Here's a hand sewing technique that can help you hem, embroider, and sew. The goal of this technique is to sew the fabric or folds of fabric into the fabric or other folds invisibly.
Step
Step 1. Thread a sewing thread of the same color as the fabric you are going to sew into the long, thin eye of the needle
Step 2. Knot the end of the thread
Step 3. Iron the fabric first if necessary (eg if you want to hem or embroider the edges of the fabric)
Step 4. Adjust the fabric to your liking and use a pin to keep the fabric from moving
Step 5. Prick the fabric with a needle from behind to attach the thread to the fabric
The knot should attach the thread to the fabric after the needle has penetrated the fabric.
Step 6. From here, your goal is to make a long stitch on one side of the fabric and a short stitch on the other
By carefully positioning the thread in and out of the fabric, you can make the thread almost invisible. View image.

Tips
- This stitch is also sometimes referred to as a soom and seam stitch.
- Make sure the color of your sewing thread is similar to the color of the fabric in the area you are sewing. This will make the thread almost invisible.
- Longer, thinner needles make smaller holes and make sewing easier.
