Paper pyramids are interesting and fun 3-dimensional objects to make, and there are several ways to create them. For example, you can make an origami pyramid that doesn't require glue or glue, or you can make a paper pyramid with a basic pattern, scissors, and enough glue or adhesive. Whether for schoolwork or just for fun, your paper pyramids can be decorated in many different ways, made with different types of paper in different designs, or even painted or colored to look like real Egyptian pyramids.
Step
Part 1 of 2: Making an Origami Pyramid
Step 1. Prepare a square of paper
To make a pyramid, you have to start with paper that is the same length and width. The thicker the paper, the stronger the pyramid. However, if your paper is too thick, the pyramid will be difficult to fold. Good paper choices include:
- Origami paper
- Construction paper
- buffalo paper
Step 2. Fold the paper and then open it again
First, fold it diagonally through the center from top right to bottom left, then unfold it. Next, fold diagonally through the center from top left to bottom right, then unfold.
Step 3. Place the paper on the table in an open state
Look at the folds that have been made (the paper will be folded to form four triangles). Whether you're using a pencil or just imagining it, label A, B, C, and D at the four folds that divide the paper into four (sequentially, counterclockwise).
Step 4. Set the paper orientation
Place the paper in front of you and arrange it so that the base of the triangles labeled D and A is facing you.
Step 5. Fold your paper into a smaller triangle
Start by folding the left side of the triangle in half so that the outer edges of sides C and D meet. Repeat on the other side, so that the outer edges of sides A and B meet.
Step 6. Fold the triangle into a square
Start on one side, then fold the bottom corners toward the center, so that each bottom corner meets in the middle. Repeat on the other side.
Step 7. Fold the rectangle into a kite
Change the orientation of the square so that it looks like a diamond, with all the flap flaps on top and the neat base point facing you. On each side of the paper, fold the two points of the side of the diamond toward the center so that the bottom edge is in line with the center edge of the square.
Step 8. Tie the folds together
On each of the four faces of the kite, unfold each fold once until you have a right triangle holding the back of the fold. Fold the small triangle down towards the front, then fold all the original folds over again. Repeat the same steps on each face of the kite.
Step 9. Fold the end of the kite down
Repeat the folds until they are neat. Now, position the kite standing on the lower end, and press it carefully on the middle end at the top. The paper will begin to unfold and the crease unfolds at the base of the crease made at the end. Once the paper unfolds into a triangle, you can form squares on the edges of the base and sides of the paper pyramid.
Step 10. Done
Part 2 of 2: Making a Paper Pyramid by Cutting
Step 1. Print or draw a sample pyramid
Use square paper to make your own pattern, or print out a pyramid pattern, then use it directly or copy it onto another paper.
A good example of a pyramid pattern has a square base, and a triangle attached to each side of the pyramid base. Two or four of these triangles have blades. Once cut, the four triangles will come together and connect at the apex to form the face of the pyramid
Step 2. Cut out the pyramid pattern
The blade on this side is important (so don't cut it) because it will be used to glue or glue the sides of the pyramid together.
Step 3. Turn the paper over and decorate
After cutting it according to the existing pattern, you now have the basic shape to make a pyramid and you can decorate it however you want. Remember that the underside of the paper will be the outside, so make sure to decorate the right side!
Try drawing a pattern of dotted lines that intersect each other so that they look like Egyptian pyramids of bricks
Step 4. Fold all the edges of the pyramid
After decorating the pyramid, flip the pyramid backwards to make folds so that the faces of the pyramid fit together well. Make sure to point the folds inward, and don't forget to fold the blades as well.
If you're using thicker paper, such as buffalo paper, consider using a knife or scissors to carefully mark the curves and folds of the pyramid
Step 5. Trim the pyramid shape
Apply glue or adhesive to all the slats on the outer edge of the pyramid (decorated side of the pyramid). Bring the four faces of the pyramid together, attaching them by positioning each sticky blade on the inside of the pyramid face. Gently press the sides of the pyramid and allow the glue to dry.
