If a pile of shoes slows you down every morning when looking for the right pair of shoes, it may be time to put it right. First of all, you need to take the time to sort through the shoes that are not in use. Then, you can choose your preferred method of sorting your shoes, making it easier to find what you need.
Step
Method 1 of 4: Sorting Shoes
Step 1. Prepare four boxes for sorting your shoes
One box for shoes you plan to throw away, one to donate, one for a garage sale or sale to a consignment store, and one box for shoes you want to keep. If you don't want to hold a garage sale, you can get rid of the box for it. You can also add a box for items you want to keep, if you want to do it for sentimental reasons.
Step 2. Think critically
Keep in mind that you may be trying to style your shoes due to a lack of space. Therefore, the best option is to get rid of the ones you no longer wear. Be tough with yourself.
Step 3. Ask yourself to help decide
For example, when was the last time you wore those shoes? Do you keep it for sentimental reasons? Do you use it often enough to justify keeping it?
Step 4. Sort the shoes into squares
Shoes that can be sold are mainly designer shoes, although they will only sell if they are in good condition. Discard anything that is badly torn or stained or smells. Only keep the ones you wear regularly. If you plan to store anything for sentimental reasons, such as wedding shoes, put it in a box for temporary storage.
Step 5. Place the box where it should be
For example, place a donation box near the door so you remember to take it with you. Bring the box to be thrown in the trash. Label the boxes for sale and storage, and set them aside for now.
Step 6. Sort out the rest of the shoes you have
That's also only if you want to keep shoes in season, especially if you have limited space. Therefore, sort the shoes that you are not currently using to be stored in the warehouse.
Method 2 of 4: Storing Shoes in a Shoebox
Step 1. Buy enough shoe boxes of the same model
Choose one shoebox model to use for all of your shoes so they stack up nicely. You can choose cardboard or plastic, depending on your taste. You can find shoe boxes at craft stores, large cardboard stores, and storage container stores.
Step 2. Put each pair of shoes in a box
Keep only a pair of shoes in each box, so they don't get crowded inside. One of the purposes of storing shoes in boxes is to protect them, and placing only one pair in each box will help to do that.
Step 3. Print photos
If the shoebox is not transparent, take a photo of each pair of shoes. Print photos and mark each box with the appropriate photo. That way, you don't have to open every box to find the shoes you're looking for.
Step 4. Arrange according to the model
The trick is to arrange all your luxury shoes in one area, weekend shoes in the next, and sneakers in the next. Try using large shelves to store all the boxes, which will make sorting them easier.
Step 5. Sort by color
After sorting by model, sort the squares by color, so all the black luxury shoes are in the same place, and so on.
Method 3 of 4: Using Wooden Pallets
Step 1. Find a wooden pallet
The best places to get free wooden pallets are independent nurseries and hardware stores, as usually no one comes and picks up the pallets there. Therefore, usually they will give the pallets to you for free.
You can also check construction areas in your area. Always ask before picking up a pallet
Step 2. Choose a clean palette
If something spills, it can be dangerous. Therefore, choose a palette that looks relatively clean. In addition, a clean pallet can result in a better final product.
Step 3. Choose one that can hold your shoe
The boards should be far enough apart for your shoes to fit in, but close enough to each other to hold your shoes together.
Be sure to wear gloves when picking up the pallets. There are usually splinters
Step 4. Pay attention to how the pallets are treated
Some pallets are stamped with a code that describes how they are handled prior to use. Uncoded palettes are generally safe to use. However, if the pallet has a EUR or MB code or if the wood is colored, do not use it. If it has a DB, HT, or EPAL code, it's generally still usable.
Step 5. Smooth the palette
Most pallets are left untreated, which can mean a lot of debris and uneven wood. Take the time to sand the wood.
- Use sandpaper no. 80. You can also use a power sander to smooth. If you want, you can use a finer sandpaper for a smoother finish.
- Some people recommend polishing the surface if you prefer a new-wood look.
Step 6. Apply the dye
You can use regular paint applied with a brush, but if you want something quicker, try spraying paint instead of dabbing it.
- When applying paint, do so with long, even strokes using a wide brush. Apply a sufficient amount, then wipe off any excess paint once it has soaked in.
- When spraying the dye, do it in even layers. Read the instructions to find out how far you need to hold the can from the object you want to color when spraying. Spray a thin layer, and wait for each coat to at least partially dry before adding the next.
Step 7. Apply the cover paint
Cover paint will protect the wood. If you want the natural appearance of the wood to stand out, try using a beeswax cover paint. Apply the cover paint in thin layers, waiting on each coat. After applying one coat, run the brush lengthwise from end to end at a 45-degree angle to smooth it out. Let the palette dry.
Step 8. Hang the shoe rack on the wall
You can put it in your closet or in your room. The shelves should be parallel to the floor.
Step 9. Divide the shoes according to the model
Place all the more luxurious shoes on one level. Insert the shoe between the boards. The top plank in each tier must be strong enough to hold it in place with the ends sticking out. Put sneakers on the next level, casual shoes on one level, and so on.
Method 4 of 4: Using a Hanging Shoe Rack
Step 1. Purchase a hanging shoe rack
Hanging shoe racks are an easy and inexpensive way to organize your shoes. Usually these racks are strong enough to hold shoes for years.
Make sure you buy enough shelves to hold all the shoes
Step 2. Hang the shelf
Attach a hanging shoe rack on the clothing rod (iron or wood across the wardrobe). The hanging shoe rack has two Velcro straps. Drape it over the clothing road and attach the Velcro.
Step 3. Arrange the shoes by model
Sort your shoes by model, by collecting luxury shoes with luxury shoes and everyday shoes with everyday shoes.
Step 4. Place the shoes on the rack
Place the shoes you use most often at eye level, so they can be picked up more easily.
