Method 1 of 2: Measuring and Cutting
Step 1. Decide whether you want to buy a frame or make your own
Making your own frames can save you a lot of money if you have the time, expertise, and tools to do the job right. Usually, the price of ready-made goods is not too expensive and can save you time and save you the headache.
Step 2. Know what type of wood to buy
Determine the size of each frame on the wall where you will install it. Wooden poles are usually nominally 5x10 cm in size, but 5x15 cm and others are also used in the construction of the house frame. You can buy the wood you need at a material store or construction store.

Step 3. Determine the size of the door
Normally, the size of a single door is usually 0.5-1 meters wide and 2 meters high. Consider the types and sizes of items that you will put in the room. For example, if the door leads to the laundry room, make sure it is wide enough to fit the washer and dryer and should be at least 1 meter wide.
Step 4. Determine the size of the door opening
The size of the door opening will vary depending on the size of the door to be installed. Usually, the door opening is 5 cm wider than the door leaf to make room for the thickness of the frame material and the jamb upholstery.
- Measure the door carefully and cut it to the size of the door opening with a reciprocating saw.
- Make an opening as wide as the door plus 5 cm, and if you need additional poles, also provide room for the pole.
Step 5. Cut the wooden posts and frame frames according to their width
Never cut the top sill of the wall! Wood that is installed in an upright position on the sides of the frame frame is called a “post” and is used to support the walls. The wood that crosses over the posts is called the "threshold".
- To make the post, measure the height of the door you want to install. Cut the wood 5x10 cm according to the height of the door plus 5 cm to provide space at the top of the frame and space to level the frame.
- To make the top of the frame, cut the wood 5x10 cm as wide as the door opening.
- The main pillar is a wooden frame that stands from the upper lintel (usually a double lintel) to the sponneng.
- The support posts are nailed to the main post, but shorter because they support the top of the frame.
Step 6. Cut the top of the frame
To make the top of the frame (the top of the door frame), cut two pieces of wood measuring 5x10 cm equal to the width of the door opening and nail them together until they are strong.

Method 2 of 2: Installing Everything
Step 1. Install the upper threshold
Nail the top sill to the top wall using 12D nails.
Step 2. Install sponge
Nail the sponge to the floor, fixing it firmly to the floor or to a barrier.
- Do not nail the sponge to the floor between the support posts as this will be removed before the door is installed.
- Use tapcon screws (or other suitable screws) to attach the sponge.
Step 3. Nail the main post in place
Use 12D nails to fix the main post into place. Tilt the nail at an angle to create a slanted joint or you can attach the post with metal joints.
Step 4. Nail the support posts to the main posts
Position the support posts on the inside of the main posts and nail them firmly.
Step 5. Install the top of the frame
Take the wood measuring 5x10 cm that has been cut along the width of the original door hole. Make the wood as the frame for the frame that will be above the door. Once the position is right, nail it until it is solid. The top of the frame must fit snugly into the main post and fit snugly on top of the support post.
Step 6. Install the grille
Measure and cut one (or two, depending on the width of the door) logs to make a lattice that will be installed between the top of the sill and the top sill. This is a grid. Use nails to secure the lattice to the frame below it and the sill above it.
Step 7. Remove sponge
Saw a sponge measuring 5x10 cm on the inside of the support post. Remove the part that has been cut from the frame.
