If you are a Christian, and believe that Jesus Christ is the Only Begotten Son of God, and He died for our sins, the celebration of Good Friday is one of the most solemn and solemn celebrations, and is one of the holiest holidays of the year.
In fact, Good Friday is not for partying, but is a day for worship.
Step
Step 1. Come to church
- For Catholics: On Good Friday there is no mass, only the reception of Holy Communion. Pray before God in the form of a holy sacrament. The rosary is good to pray on Good Friday.
- In addition to holy mass, many churches also hold a way of the cross, which you can attend.
Step 2. Some Christian communities (Catholics as well as others) show the Passion drama, which you can also attend, or may participate in, or co-organize
In the British tradition, if you invite guests, you can offer them tea in the afternoon, accompanied by a hot cross bun. It is a kind of bread filled with fruit or raisins, decorated with white dough on top. This bread can be baked first or served directly
Step 3. Some people usually fast on Good Friday
There are people who don't even eat at all, while others still eat very little. If you're still growing, you might as well eat a little. See the section for Orthodox Christians below.
Step 4. At 3:00 p.m., if you don't attend mass, stop doing anything and pray, if possible
According to tradition, Jesus died on the cross at this hour.
Step 5. Meditate on the death of Jesus throughout the day
That is the essence of the celebration of Good Friday.
Method 1 of 2: For Orthodox Christians
Step 1. Orthodox Christians are required to abstain from meat and all dairy products (including eggs)
Orthodox Christians must observe the rules issued by the local diocese.
Step 2. Attend the morning service where the Twelve Passions from the Gospels are read and the Funeral Afternoon Service
Method 2 of 2: For Protestants and other sects
Step 1. There are many different traditions held by each Christian denomination
To find out, the best way is to ask your pastor, pastor, elder, or church leader.
Tips
- Try to get to church early for Mass or Good Friday service because it will usually be so full that it can be difficult to get a seat. Of course you can stand throughout mass if you want to meditate on what Christ has done for you.
- 'Way of the Cross', composed by St. Francis of Assisi for those who cannot come to the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem (on pilgrimage). They can meditate on the Passion of Our Lord in their respective churches.
- On Good Friday (as well as other Fridays throughout Lent), Catholics abstain from meat, but eat fish. However, the fish must be boiled, not fried, with flour or without flour.
- Try to be solemn on this day. Act like attending a funeral.
- Don't go sightseeing on Good Friday. Good Friday is not a holiday for sightseeing.
