Oil stains are easy on us, but difficult to remove. If you're frustrated by colored patches staining your clothes, try a few different ways to remove both new and old stains.
Step
Method 1 of 2: Removing New Stains
Step 1. Pour a little baby powder
As quickly as possible, pour a small amount of baby powder over the fresh grease stain on your clothes. Baby powder is good, as it will work its way into the gaps between the fibers of the fabric and absorb the oil. Let the powder "set" for 10-15 minutes, and then brush off. If the traces of the oil are still visible, put it in the washing machine and wash it with cold water. The combination should treat the stain, and when the garment is dry, there should be no more traces of oil stains left!
Step 2. Rub the chalk over it
Since chalk is a very fine powder, it is easy to absorb grease marks on your clothes and make it easier for the stains to be removed. Rub white chalk over the oil stain, or scrape (scrape) the chalk over the stain. Leave it there for 10-15 minutes and then scrub it off. If the stain is still visible, you can wash it off with cold water. A rinse/dry cycle will complete the task and should completely remove the stain.
Step 3. Sprinkle with cornstarch
Yes, other very fine powders (same as baby powder and chalk), namely cornstarch work wonders at absorbing new oil marks and oil stains. Pour a small amount of the powder on the stain and leave it for a quarter of an hour. After that, you can brush off the cornstarch, or leave it alone and put it in the washing machine. Wash your clothes in cold water and your oil stains will be gone!
Step 4. Pour the loose powder
Don't have all the powders mentioned above? Try loose powder to remove the stain. Follow the same process as described above by pouring a small amount of talcum powder over the oil stain, and leaving it there for 10-15 minutes. When it has been powdered for a long time, put the clothes in the washing machine and wash them in cold water.
Step 5. Make a solution of a mixture of salt and rubbing alcohol
This solution works well for stains on thicker fabrics, such as denim or linen. Mix together one part salt and three parts rubbing alcohol, and then pour it over the oil stain. Use a soft cloth to rub the mixture over the stain, allowing it to absorb into the fibers. Let the solution soak in for 10-15 minutes, and then wash your clothes as you normally would. When the clothes have been washed and dried, the stain should be gone!
Step 6. Use the solvent used for dry cleaning
If you're planning to spend a few dollars, opt for a special dry cleaning solution that is used to remove grease stains. This solution is usually in the form of a spray or ironing liquid which is applied directly to the stain, before washing it off. Since this solution is for dry cleaning, it should be effective at removing stains immediately, leaving your clothes looking good as new.
Method 2 of 2: Remove Old Stains
Step 1. Spray some hair spray
Believe it or not, hairspray can actually remove old grease stains. Wet the old oil stain with hairspray, while using a piece of tissue paper placed between the cloth and the spray. Leave it for 30 minutes, and then put it in the washing machine to wash as usual. Dry your clothes, after washing in the washing machine, your clothes are ready to wear! If this process doesn't work at first, repeat until the stain is completely gone.
Step 2. Spread the cheese jam
Guaranteed, this sounds a bit disgusting. However, cheese jam is believed to be a fat remover by some people. Thickly coat your oil stain with cheese marmalade, and then rub it in with your finger, and put it in the washing machine. One wash should be enough to remove the stain-and so should the cheese jam.
Step 3. Try using shampoo
Shampoo is used to remove natural oils and fats from the hair and scalp, so why not use the same process on your clothes? Pour the shampoo directly over your stain, and use a piece of cloth to rub it vigorously. Leave it for 10-15 minutes, and then wash it as you normally would in a washing machine. Let the clothes air dry (don't tumble dry), and your clothes should be stain-free.
Step 4. Use waterless mechanical soap
Waterless mechanical soap-a powerful type of detergent-used in workshops around the world to remove grease (grease) from grease-stained mechanical hands. Pour the soap powder over the stain, and then rub the stain vigorously. Leave it for 30 minutes, and repeat the process. Wash clothes and let them air dry; if the stain is still there, repeat the process previously mentioned until the stain is completely gone.
Step 5. Use environmentally friendly cleaning products, such as the Simple Green brand
Simple green is a cleaning solution used by many for everyday household cleaning tasks. However, this solution is also able to remove old stains. Pour the liquid directly over the stain and let it sit for 15-20 minutes, increasing the time if needed. Then wash your clothes in cold water and let them air dry.
Step 6. Use a small amount of WD-40 liquid
WD-40 is used for a variety of cleaning purposes, including removing grease and oil stains. Pour the liquid over the stain and wait 30 minutes for the liquid to soak in. You should wash your clothes as soon as the liquid soaks in. Wash it off with cold water and then when it's done, let it air dry. Repeat this process several times if necessary to completely remove the stain.
Step 7. Pour the cola
Coke drinks have been known for a long time to be an excellent stain-removing agent, as a result of their ability to dissolve almost anything. While you may be concerned that the cola will make the stains worse on your clothes, it can remove old oil stains. Pour directly over the stain and let it soak for 1-2 hours (this is not long enough for the soda to stain your clothes). Continue this process by washing the garment in the washing machine and letting it air dry, and you're done.
Step 8. Try using Aloevera
If you're having trouble scrubbing away oil stains, you can try using aloe vera gel. Dip your clothes in cold water, and then pour aloevera (the most potent 100% aloe vera gel) over the stain. Rub the gel vigorously on the stained area for a few minutes, and then wash your clothes in cold water.
Step 9. Use a multi-purpose cleaning product, such as the Lestoil brand
Lestoil is a multifunctional cleaning solution, Lestoil is perfect for cleaning oil stains (depicted in its name). Pour Lestoil directly over the stain to allow the solution to soak in for about 20-30 minutes. Then, wash your clothes in the washing machine using cold water. If you want to remove grease from several sheets of clothing at once, you can add Lestoil directly to the washing machine with detergent.
