Veet is a hair removal product and is available as a cream or wax. Veet hair removal cream contains active ingredients that are absorbed into the hair shaft, making the hair easy to pull out. Veet wax kits use hot, dry wax to pull out hair at the roots. Although both products have their advantages, they also have some risks. Here are some ways to use Veet hair removal products safely.
Step
Method 1 of 2: Hair Removal with 3 Minute Removing Cream
Step 1. Apply a small drop of cream to the area you wish to de-hair
Wait 24 hours to see if there is an adverse reaction on the skin.
- If you have a skin disorder or are taking medications that can affect your skin, consult your doctor before using this cream.
- If your skin shows no signs of irritation, continue using the cream.
- Do not use cream if the cream is not uniform in color, or if the bottle or tube of cream is damaged.
- Avoid contact with metal or fabric, which can damage or discolor the material. In case of accidental contact, immediately clean the surface of the material with water.
- Keep Veet hair removal cream out of the reach of children. If accidentally swallowed, contact a doctor immediately and show the product packaging.
Step 2. Squeeze out a handful of cream into the palm of your hand
Squeeze out just enough cream to coat the area you want.
Avoid the cream in contact with the eyes. In case of eye contact with cream, flush with plenty of water and seek medical attention immediately
Step 3. Apply a handful of cream on the desired area
Use the spatula included in the box to apply the cream evenly and completely coat the hair.
- Apply the cream to the surface of the skin instead of massaging it into the pores.
- This hair removal cream is designed for legs, hands, underarms and bikini line. Do not Use this cream on the face, head, breast, perianal, or genital areas as severe irritation and burning may occur. If you apply cream to these areas and experience irritation, gently wash the area to remove the cream and call a doctor.
- Do not apply the cream to moles, scars, freckled, irritated or sunburned skin. Avoid contact with skin that has been shaved in the last 72 hours.
- Avoid the cream in contact with cracked or inflamed skin. If the cream comes in contact with cracked skin, wash it off with warm water and a 3% boric acid solution. Call your doctor if you still feel sore after washing.
- Do not use this cream after a hot shower. This cream contains lye and thioglycolate, which can easily irritate sensitive skin after a hot shower.
Step 4. Leave the cream on the target area for 3 minutes
Make sure you time it carefully because leaving the cream on for too long can cause serious skin irritation.
If you feel a stinging or tingling sensation during use, immediately remove the cream and rinse thoroughly with water. If it persists, call your doctor
Step 5. Gently scrape the cream using a spatula
First, use the head of the spatula to test a small area. If the hair comes off easily, scrape off all the cream with a spatula.
- Use a soft sponge or small towel to remove the cream if the spatula feels too rough.
- If needed, you can leave the cream on your skin longer before washing it all off. Do not exceed 6 minutes, as your skin may become irritated and burn.
Step 6. Wash your skin thoroughly with warm water
Wipe off the remaining cream and hair that is still attached to the skin.
The best way to do this is to take a shower and use a Loofah/bath pad or sponge to gently scrub the area
Step 7. Dry the area with a soft towel
Do this gently as the area may still be sensitive after applying the hair removal cream.
- Always Wait 72 hours between applying the cream. This will reduce the level of irritation and inflammation of the skin.
- Do not use antiperspirant products or deodorant or perfume on the area, or take a sun bath before 24 hours have passed. The skin may still be sensitive and especially sensitive to sunlight or the chemicals of these products.
Method 2 of 2: Hair Removal with Ready-to-use Wax Strips
Step 1. Apply a small amount of wax on the target area with a Perfect Finish tissue (included in the product)
Supervise your skin for 24 hours to ensure that waxing will not cause skin irritation.
- If your skin doesn't become irritated, it's likely that wax strips are safe to use.
- For first-time waxers, start by removing leg hair. This is one part of the body that is not very sensitive. Once you're experienced, move on to sensitive areas like underarms and the bikini line.
- It is not recommended to use wax strips for waxed skin.
- If you are taking medication that affects your skin, seek doctor's approval before using Veet wax strips.
- Do not use Veet ready-made wax strips if you are elderly or have diabetes, as there may be serious health risks.
- Wax can be used for pregnant women; however, be aware that your skin may bruise more easily in this condition.
Step 2. Clean the area of skin you want to wax
Take a shower or use a small towel to remove any dust or dirt that may have stuck to your skin.
Dry your skin well after cleansing. The moisturizer will prevent the wax from sticking properly to the skin
Step 3. Rub the wax strip between your hands for 5 seconds
This is done to warm the wax and prepare it to stick to the hair.
Traditional hair wax techniques usually involve heating a thick wax solution in a microwave or warm water. Although not that complicated, Veet strips still need a little heat before they can be used for waxing
Step 4. Gently peel off the strip
You can reuse the strips until they no longer stick.
Step 5. Stick the strip on your skin and rub it many times
Rub the strip in the direction your hair is growing.
- For leg wax, rub the strip from the knee to the ankle.
- Be as careful about using wax strips as you would with a hair removal cream. Do not use on the head, face, genitals, or other sensitive personal areas. Do not use wax strips on varicose veins, moles, scars, or irritated skin.
- If you experience irritation, remove the wax using the Perfect Finish tissue that is included in the Veet wax packaging box. Alternatively, you can also use a cotton ball dipped in baby oil or body oil. Since wax is made of resin, it doesn't come off with just water.
- Make sure the length of the hair you wax is at least 2 - 5 mm. Hair shorter than 2 mm may not adhere well to the wax and therefore will not pull out when the wax is pulled off.
Step 6. Immediately pull the strip back on the strip itself
The faster you pull the strip off, the more likely you are to remove most of the hair.
- Pull the strip in the opposite direction to the direction of hair growth. This increases the chances of hair pulling out.
- Stretch the skin with one hand and make sure you keep the strip parallel to the skin. This will maximize effectiveness and minimize discomfort.
- Avoid pulling the strip outward as this will only cut the hair.
Step 7. Wipe the waxed area with a Perfect Finish tissue
You can also take a shower to remove the wax residue from your skin better.
Wait 24 hours before using antiperspirant products and perfumes, or before taking a sun bath. Since waxed skin may still be sensitive, doing this before 24 hours can cause irritation or discomfort
