Vitamin E has natural antioxidant properties. This vitamin is released to the surface of the skin and works to improve skin and hair health. This vitamin is usually part of sebum, which is a natural oil secreted by gland cells in the skin. Vitamin E has many benefits on the skin, including removing harmful substances from the body and scalp, absorbing UV radiation from the sun and preventing sunburn from UV rays, promoting healthy hair growth, and slowing hair loss and the appearance of gray hair. You can use vitamin E oil instead of conditioner, or apply it to split ends.
Step
Part 1 of 2: Preparation Stage
Step 1. Choose a natural vitamin E oil
Natural vitamin E is easier for the body to absorb and use. Vitamin E has a synthetic version called tocopherol acetate. This form can react with some beauty products so it's best to use the natural form of vitamin E. You can buy it at a health food store, the vitamin section of a supermarket, or on the internet. Some cooking oils also contain vitamin E, wheat germ oil, sunflower oil, and almond oil.
Step 2. Test the oil on your skin before use
Some people are sensitive to vitamin E oil. So, test a little of the oil on your skin before using it fully. Over time, you may also become more sensitive to vitamin E oil. So, pay attention to how it looks and feels on your scalp after using vitamin E oil for a few days.
To test the oil, drop 1-2 drops onto your wrist and then rub it evenly. Wait for 24 hours and check your wrist. If you have redness, dryness, itching or swelling on your hands, don't use the oil. However, if your hands look and feel normal, feel free to use the oil
Step 3. Use a small amount of oil
The benefits of vitamin E oil last for a long time. So you don't need to use too much. Start with a coin-sized amount of oil, and add more if needed. The amount of oil used depends on the length and thickness of the hair.
Step 4. Consider taking a vitamin E supplement to promote hair growth
Oral vitamin E supplements have been shown to be effective for promoting hair growth. Try taking a 50 mg vitamin E capsule daily after meals. For example, you can take one capsule after breakfast and another after dinner.
- As with any supplement, make sure you check with your doctor first.
- Include natural sources of vitamin E in your diet. Try eating nuts, seeds, leafy greens, and vegetable oils, especially wheat germ and sunflower seed oils.
Step 5. Supplement with vitamin C
Vitamins E and C work very well together because together they are more effective in protecting skin and hair from UV radiation. If you are using topical vitamin E, you should also use topical vitamin C. Similarly, vitamins E and C are taken orally (capsules or tablets). These two vitamins are more effective together than alone.
Part 2 of 2: Conditioning Hair with Vitamin E Oil
Step 1. Use vitamin E like using conditioner
You can replace conditioner with vitamin E oil to keep your hair soft and easy to manage. Wash hair with shampoo and rinse thoroughly. After that, squeeze the remaining water from the hair and pour vitamin E oil to the size of a coin in the palm of your hand. This oil is usually thick and fatty.
Instead of using it in place of conditioner, you can also use vitamin E oil as a night cream or moisturizer
Step 2. Use your fingertips to massage the oil until it absorbs into the scalp
You can pour vitamin E oil directly on your scalp and massage it into the roots using your fingertips. Massage in a circle so that vitamin E penetrates into the scalp.
Vitamin E will be absorbed into the skin and directly to your cells
Step 3. Wrap your head with a warm cotton towel
For a deep conditioning treatment, wrap a clean, damp, warm cotton towel around your head and let it sit for an hour. The heat will help the absorption of vitamin E into the hair and scalp.
To make warm, damp towels, fill a sink or basin with hot water and soak a towel in it. After that, lift and wring the towel to remove excess water, and wrap the towel around your head
Step 4. Rinse off the vitamin E oil
After an hour has passed, remove the towel from your head, then rinse your hair and scalp with warm water. Dry hair and style as usual.
Step 5. Treat split ends with vitamin E oil
You can also use vitamin E to treat split ends. The trick, pour the oil in the palm of the hand until the size of a coin. Rub your hands together, then stroke the split ends with your palms until the vitamin E is absorbed into the ends of the hair. Do not rinse your hair and style as usual.
- This treatment can be done on dry or wet hair.
- Vitamin E is a potent moisturizer that helps bind water to the skin. Therefore, this vitamin can treat split ends. If this treatment doesn't work, trim the split ends.
Warning
- If you have a skin condition, such as eczema, psoriasis or acne, consult your doctor first before using vitamin E oil
- Remember, vitamin E can permanently stain clothes. So, be careful when using vitamin E oil on dry hair. Make sure you wipe off any excess oil from your hair so it doesn't drip onto your clothes. It's also a good idea to wrap a towel around your neck and shoulders to protect your clothes.
