One of the most annoying things is looking in the mirror and seeing a pimple on your forehead as if it's looking back at you. Fortunately, hiding the pimple is not difficult so you can move on to the next activity. First, you have to take some steps to shrink the pimple, then you can cover it with makeup. Do not worry! It's okay for you to cover your pimples with a little makeup because nowadays many people use makeup to hide imperfections in their appearance; no one will know.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Reduce Acne
Step 1. Use a gentle facial cleanser
Choose a mild soap for your face. Do not use facial cleansers that contain astringents or scrubs. In addition, choose a facial cleanser that does not contain alcohol. These types of cleaning products can make your facial problems worse.
- While harsh cleansers are not recommended, you can use some acne treatment products that can help. Look for products that contain salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. Salicylic acid clears clogged pores and can reduce inflammation and redness of the skin. Benzoyl peroxide kills bacteria and removes dead skin cells.
- Wash your face with warm water and your facial cleanser. Hot water can dry out your skin.
Step 2. Avoid facial cleansing cloths (makeup remover cloth)
Most makeup removers contain alcohol or other chemicals that can irritate your skin. Most people also tend to scrub the skin harder when using a facial cleansing cloth because it's more difficult to remove makeup with them. These effects can worsen your acne condition.
Use soap and water to remove your make-up when dealing with acne blemishes
Step 3. Rub the pimple gently
After showering or washing your face in the morning, use a towel or washcloth to gently scrub the pimple. Bathing will loosen the dead skin that is above the pimple so that it is easy to peel off just by rubbing it gently.
Step 4. Use a moisturizer after cleansing your face
When washing your face at night, make sure you use a moisturizer afterward. Use a light moisturizer that's meant for your face. You can also apply moisturizer in the morning after washing your face, but prioritize dry spots.
Step 5. Use ice
Put an ice cube in the washcloth. Place it on (clean!) facial skin for about a minute. If the pimple doesn't go away, wait 5 minutes before re-applying the washcloth with ice cubes for another minute.
Method 2 of 3: Hiding Pimples Using Primer (Makeup Base)
Step 1. Turn on the light
It's a good idea to stay in a place where there's a lot of light when you're applying makeup, especially if you're trying to hide a pimple because you need to be able to see it from all angles. Make sure there is plenty of light around you before starting.
Step 2. Choose a primer (makeup base) to use
Primer is used before concealer to help hide acne blemishes. Choose a yellow or green primer because this type can fight the redness of the skin.
Step 3. Apply the primer
Use a concealer brush to apply the primer over your pimple. Apply just a little as long as it's enough to hide the pimple. Too much primer actually accentuates the pimple instead of hiding it. Use your finger to smooth it out.
You can also use a cotton swab if you don't have a concealer brush
Step 4. Add concealer
Next, use a concealer whose color is closest to your skin tone. Use a concealer brush to apply it over the pimple. Again, apply just enough to cover the pimple.
- When buying concealer, try it on the back of your hand or the back of your jawbone to make sure the color matches. An emollient-based concealer will help moisturize the skin while hiding pimples.
- Keep in mind that you may need different concealers in winter and summer, especially if you like to bask in the sun in the summer. You can mix the two together for spring and fall use.
Step 5. Flatten the cocealer
Make sure the concealer blends in with your skin. Gently circle around with your fingers to rub around the concealer onto the rest of the skin.
Step 6. Use powder
Powder helps to set makeup so it lasts all day. Apply powder on top of other makeup using a powder polish. Press gently, but don't rub.
Method 3 of 3: Hiding Pimples with Concealer and Foundation
Step 1. Choose the right concealer
With this tip, you need a concealer that really matches your skin tone. You can still see a bit of the concealer through the last layer.
Step 2. Use a concealer brush
Apply concealer to the brush. Place the brush over your pimple, and rotate the brush back and forth to apply concealer to each pimple.
Step 3. Smooth on the skin
Use your finger to blend the concealer. Pay close attention to the corners to make sure the outer edges of the concealer don't really show through; the edges should blend into your skin.
Step 4. Apply foundation
Use a foundation that matches your skin tone. Cover your entire face with foundation. However, don't cover up the pimple; just cover around the pimple.
Step 5. Use powder
Use the powder only over the pimple. Use your finger to pick up some powder (which matches your skin tone), and apply it over the pimple area. The powder will help set the makeup.
Tips
- Try using a liquid bandage. You shouldn't wear a liquid bandage all the time, but if you need to cover up your pimple for a big event, try applying a liquid bandage over it. Apply your concealer over the liquid bandage, and the pimple will stay hidden longer because the makeup sticks to the liquid bandage.
- Avoid touching the pimple after you've finished covering it. You can ruin the makeup.
- Bring extra concealer or corrector with you so you can fix the makeup throughout the day.
