If your hair is naturally curly, the struggle with frizzy hair may become part of your everyday life. When the moisture is depleted, the hair becomes stiff and lifts up, giving it a bouncy look. When dry, the curls will absorb water from the air, making them stiffer and more fluffy. This article explains how to fix this because curls can't be straightened permanently. In addition to using natural products, changing the way you shampoo and style your hair can be a solution.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Washing Hair
Step 1. Use shampoo several times a week
if you shampoo too often, your hair will swell as it loses its natural oils. Instead of shampooing every day, use shampoo every 2-3 days.
- Buy shampoo according to hair type. When choosing a shampoo, find out what the ingredients are. Choose a shampoo that contains glycerin because it is useful for protecting and moisturizing the hair shaft so that the hair does not grow.
- Use a shampoo that doesn't contain sulfates. Usually, shampoo is sulfated to make it lather. While it doesn't damage hair, the sulfate content causes problems for some people. Choose a shampoo whose ingredients are safe for your hair.
- If you feel uncomfortable because you haven't washed your hair in a few days, use a dry shampoo.
Step 2. Use conditioner
Don't forget to use conditioner after every wash. Conditioner protects your hair by preventing it from absorbing water from the air. Let the conditioner soak into the hair shaft for about 5 minutes for maximum results.
- Look for conditioners that contain glycerin and other hydrating ingredients, such as shea butter and coconut oil.
- Some conditioners contain proteins that make hair less frizzy and look shiny.
- Treat your hair with conditioner if you don't need shampoo yet. Conditioner is useful for cleaning hair without stripping the hair of its natural oils.
Step 3. Do not dry wet hair with a towel
Hair becomes stiff and bouncy when rubbed vigorously with a towel. Avoid this by pressing the hair gently with a microfiber towel.
If the water is no longer dripping from your hair, wrap your hair in a towel. Bow your head so that your hair drops onto the towel. Wrap your hair in a towel and then pull the rolled up towel over your head as if you were wearing a turban. Leave your hair wrapped in a towel for at least 20 minutes so that your hair doesn't swell and curls better
Step 4. Comb the hair with your fingers
Instead of using a hairbrush, you should try to keep your hair from getting tangled and knotted with your fingers. Curly hair is easy to break and expand when brushed.
- After shampooing, pour a little conditioner on your fingers, then apply it to your hair.
- Do not use a comb or brush to style dry hair. If you need to straighten dry hair, wet your palms and run your fingers through the hair.
Method 2 of 3: Treating Hair with the Right Products
Step 1. Protect hair from heat
Hair is easily damaged and expands if it is dried too often with a hair dryer. Therefore, use a heat protecting spray to keep your hair safe when exposed to heat.
- If you want to dry your hair with a hair dryer, wait until the hair is almost dry before spraying / applying the product to the hair.
- So that the hair is not damaged and does not expand, make sure that only the roots of the hair are dried with a hair dryer.
Step 2. Use a cream hair moisturizer
While the hair is still wet, apply a moisturizing cream starting from the roots to the tips of the hair. Apply the cream on your palms and fingers and then warm them by pressing your palms together. Then, wrap your hair around your fingers to make the curls look nicer.
If you have a hair dryer with a diffuser funnel, use it to dry your hair after shampooing. To keep your hair from growing, make sure that the air jet is not too strong and aim the funnel at the roots of your hair
Step 3. Have an anti-frizz hair serum in an easy-to-reach place
Put anti-frizz serum in the bathroom to use after shampooing and in the desk drawer so you can use it anytime.
If you have thick hair, apply the serum from the roots to the tips. If your hair is thin, apply the serum starting from the middle of the hair shaft to the ends of the hair. Do not apply serum to the roots of the hair so that the hair does not look greasy
Step 4. Avoid products that contain alcohol
Hair becomes dry and bouncy when exposed to alcohol. Lots of hairspray and mousse with alcohol in it. If you still have alcoholic products in your house, don't use them anymore. Choose alcohol-free products to treat and style your hair.
If you want to buy alcohol-free products, look for products used in salons, but they may be more expensive than alcoholic products
Method 3 of 3: Using Home Products
Step 1. Wash your hair with apple cider vinegar
Add 1-2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to 1 cup of water and mix well. After shampooing, rinse your hair with this solution. If you've never treated your hair with a vinegar solution, dissolve a maximum of 1 tablespoon of vinegar. After some time, add a little more vinegar until you find the right amount.
- Use the vinegar solution to massage your scalp and let it soak in for a few minutes for maximum results.
- Do hair treatment with vinegar solution 1-2 times a week to maintain healthy hair.
- Apple cider vinegar solution is useful for balancing hair pH, overcoming dandruff, and relieving itching on the scalp.
Step 2. Apply the egg on the hair
Crack an egg into a bowl, add a little cold water and mix well. Apply the egg on the scalp and massage gently. Let it soak for about 20 minutes then rinse your hair thoroughly.
- The protein and fat content in eggs is a natural moisturizer. For very brittle hair, use more egg yolks than egg whites. Do hair treatment using eggs 1-2 times a month.
- Use cool water when rinsing hair. The eggs will clump if you rinse your hair with warm water.
Step 3. Make a hair mask from avocado
So that the hair is not stiff and the ends do not split, make your own hair mask. Prepare 1 avocado and 2 tablespoons of coconut oil. Use a blender to make a paste of these ingredients and then apply the mask to your hair. Let the mask soak into the hair shaft for about 30 minutes. Wash your hair with shampoo and then use conditioner.
- To make it more useful, add other ingredients to the mask, for example 1-2 tablespoons of eggs, sour cream, or mayonnaise. Mix different ingredients to find out which mask is best for your hair.
- Make a hair mask from bananas and honey. Take 1 ripe banana, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, and 1 tablespoon of honey, then make a paste using a blender. Apply the mask on your hair and let it sit for 30 minutes before rinsing it off.
Step 4. Use coconut oil to keep your hair from growing
Warm enough coconut oil and then apply it on the scalp. While massaging the scalp, rub the hair with coconut oil and let it soak for 20-40 minutes. Coconut oil functions to moisturize the hair and scalp so that the hair does not grow.
You can add a little coconut oil to your shampoo when you wash your hair, but not more than 1 teaspoon. If your hair is thin, use only a few drops of coconut oil
Step 5. Make conditioner from coconut milk and lime juice
Coconut and lime contain many vitamins and minerals that can improve hair health. Even if you need to cook, making a homemade conditioner is a way to save money.
- Put 1 can of coconut milk and 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a saucepan and heat it while continuing to stir. Add 4 tablespoons of lime juice and 2-3 tablespoons of cornstarch without stopping stirring. Maizena makes the liquid thicken until it becomes a conditioner. Add cornstarch if the liquid is too runny.
- Wait until the conditioner is not hot before use. Make sure you apply the conditioner evenly so that the conditioner coats each hair shaft.
- Wrap your hair in a shower cap or sit under a blow dryer. If you have a hat to warm your hair, that's fine. Wait for 30 minutes then rinse hair with clean water.
- Use some ingredients as a natural conditioner to keep your hair from growing. Take 1 cup of coconut milk, 1 tablespoon of coconut oil, 1 tablespoon of olive oil, and 1 cup of fat-free, unflavored yogurt and mix well. Apply conditioner to the hair evenly. Wrap your hair in a shower cap and let it soak for 45 minutes before rinsing.
