Birds are fun friends to have. And you, as the owner of this pet, must provide him with everything he needs so he can live a healthy and happy life. One of his basic needs is a bird cage. Large cages, which provide plenty of room for your bird, can be expensive and look unattractive. Making a birdcage will solve both of these problems! Get started right away by reading Step 1!

Step 1. Gather your materials

You will need 1.75 cm thick plywood or MDF, 2.5x5 cm lumber, four pieces of 5x5 cm lumber, strong metal wire (such as farm wire or something similar to this wire), glue wood, anvil screws, hinges, and a saw. You can add a hoop if you want the cage to move easily.

  • The wood you choose to build the cage should be very hard, such as plywood, and the wire fence should not be painted, but should be pasted with a layer of electroplating.

Step 6. Arrange the panels

With anvil screws, pass through the narrow side of the long strip, to the end of the short strip. You will have two large panels for the front and back of the cage, measuring 123x183 cm, with a post in the middle. You will also produce four square frames for each side, each measuring 91.4x91.4 cm.

Step 7. Cut and attach the wire

Cut wire that is large enough to cover the center of the cage frame and reach every part of the frame as well. With a staple gun, use staples to attach the wire to the wooden frame, where it will be the inside of the panels. You can soften the edges and keep things from getting stuck by tracing the edges of the wire with silicone or chalk.

Step 8. Attach the panels

Attach the front panels to the posts, so the edges are at the same level, with the anvil screws. Then, attach one side panel on each side, one cover panel on the top, and another on the bottom. Separate the two remaining panels to use as a door. Now you have a square measuring 91, 4x129.55x183 cm.

Step 10. Create the doors

Attach the two remaining panels by placing two hinges on each side. Half of the hinges must be attached to the door leaf, while the other half is attached to the center of the panel on the other side. This will ensure you have a cage with doors on both sides: one on the top for adding food and interacting with the birds, and one on the bottom to help clean the cage.

Step 13. Add entertainment features

Birds need perches and toys. Birds spend a lot of time perched. Create perches at different heights. Some good toys for your bird are mirrors, ladders, and bells. These things keep your bird under stress.

Make your cage more interesting by adding mirrors, ladders, and balls so your birds never get bored
