S'mores are a popular light snack made over a campfire. However, you don't have to wait for your next camping opportunity to enjoy this snack. One of the easiest ways to make s'mores is in the oven. It only takes a few minutes and you'll be able to make several s'mores at once. If you're impatient, just use the grill. If you don't have an oven, you can also use an oven toaster!
Ingredients
- Graham crackers
- Unsalted milk chocolate
- Marshmallows
Step
Method 1 of 3: Using the Oven
Step 1. Preheat the oven to 200°C
Step 2. Break some biscuits into two pieces
Place the crushed biscuits on the baking sheet, leaving some space between the biscuits. Save the rest for later. How many biscuits you have to break depends on how many s'mores you want to make. One cookie is enough to make one s'more.
Step 3. Place the marshmallows on top of the biscuit slices
Lay the marshmallows flat on top of the biscuit slices so they don't roll.
Step 4. Bake the s'more for 3-5 minutes
S'more is ready when the marshmallows are puffy and golden brown.
Step 5. Place a piece of unsalted chocolate on top of each s'more
The best type of chocolate to use is chocolate that can be broken into small pieces. You should be able to fit 2 to 4 pieces in each s'more.
Step 6. Cover the top of the s'more with the biscuit slices that were set aside
Press gently so that the biscuit sticks.
Step 7. Wait one minute before eating it
This will give the chocolate time to soften and become chewy. This will also give the marshmallows time to cool a bit.
Method 2 of 3: Using the Grill
Step 1. Preheat the toaster in the oven first
Make sure to use the top rack in the oven. Toaster ovens differ from traditional toasters in that the heat comes from the top of the oven. Your s'more will also cook much faster.
Step 2. Break the biscuit into two pieces
Place one cookie slice on the baking sheet, leaving a few inches between the biscuits. Set the remaining biscuits aside for later. How many biscuits you need to break depends on how much s'more you want to eat. One cookie is enough to make one s'more.
Step 3. Place marshmallows on each biscuit slice
Make sure you place it on the flat side of the marshmallow so it doesn't roll.
Step 4. Bake the s'more for 45-75 seconds
Leave the oven door slightly ajar, and watch the marshmallows closely because in the toaster, any food will easily burn. S'mores are cooked when the marshmallows have turned golden brown.
Step 5. Place the unsalted chocolate bar on top of the s'more
The most suitable types are those that can be cut into small squares. In each s'more should be able to contain 2 to 4 pieces of chocolate.
Step 6. Place the remaining biscuit pieces on top of the s'more
Press gently so that everything sticks.
Step 7. Let the s'more sit for a minute before eating it
The chocolate will soften and become chewy. This step is also useful for slightly cooling the marshmallows.
Method 3 of 3: Using the Toaster Oven
Step 1. Set the oven toaster heat to medium heat
If your oven pan has not been lined with aluminum foil, it would be best if you lined it now. This will make it easier to clean.
Step 2. Break the biscuit in half
How many biscuits you need to break depends on how many s'mores you want to make. One cookie is enough to make one s'more.
Step 3. Place half of the biscuits on the baking sheet
Set the remaining biscuit pieces aside for later. You may be able to make two s'mores at once depending on the size of your oven. Remember to leave some space between the biscuits.
Step 4. Place the marshmallows on top of the biscuits
Place it on its flat side so it doesn't roll.
Step 5. Bake the s'more
Put the pan in the oven and close the door. Allow the s'more to roast until the marshmallows turn golden brown. This step will take approximately 4 minutes.
Step 6. Place a piece of chocolate bar on top of the s'more
When the marshmallows are toasted, remove the s'more from the oven. Give two to four pieces of unsalted chocolate bars.
Step 7. Gently press the remaining biscuit pieces over the s'more
Press until everything sticks together, but not too hard and crack the biscuits.
Step 8. Let the s'more rest for a while before eating it
After about 1 minute, the chocolate should soften and become chewy. The marshmallows will also be cold enough to eat.
Step 9. Done
Tips
- If you don't have graham crackers on hand, you can use any type of honey-cinnamon flavored biscuit.
- You can bake the chocolate with the marshmallows. Place the chocolate on the biscuits before adding the marshmallows.
- Add other foods to the s'more, such as raspberries or banana slices.
- Try making with other graham cracker flavors like chocolate.
- Try making with caramelized chocolate candy or one with peanut butter.
- If you can't find marshmallows, try using marshmallow jam. However, you may need to adjust the baking time.
- If you can't find a chocolate bar, try using a chocolate and hazelnut jam like Nutella on one of the biscuits.
Warning
- Never leave the oven, especially when baking marshmallows. Marshmallows burn very easily when baked in the oven.
- Be careful when biting into s'more. The marshmallow filling can be very hot.
