Accuracy is important in the game of Golf. The accuracy of a straight-drive shot from a tee can be the difference between a birdie and a bogey. Your golf game will improve with the right practice and technique.
Step
Method 1 of 2: Performing a Straight and Far Drive
Step 1. Plant the tee high
Golf tees are planted just a little off the ground. Place the ball on the tee. This technique is called the high tee.
- The ball can be hit while swinging up because the tee is high.
- Use the high tee to hit the ball as far as possible.
Step 2. Place the ball away from your position
The ball must be in a straight line with the left foot. You can make the biggest swings in this position.
Make sure the ball doesn't go over the left foot
Step 3. Take a wide stance
The further the ball is from your feet, the more room you have. The extent of this distance will determine the power of your blow.
- Place your weight evenly on both feet.
- Keep your head behind the ball.
Step 4. Grip the golf club by the outside
Use leverage to power the punch. Hold the stick by the end of the club grip, for maximum leverage.
- By gripping the stick on the outside, you trade accuracy for power.
- Adjust the position to your body size and bat for the best grip.
Step 5. Pull the bat back
Transfer your weight to your right leg. Keep your eyes on the ball.
- Do not swing back (back-swing) too much.
- Bring the stick head further behind the ball.
Step 6. Swing
Swing the stick and hit the ball. Hit the ball from below, when the swing of the stick is pointing up.
Hit the ball right in the middle
Method 2 of 2: Drive with Dick and Accuracy
Step 1. Install the tee in half
Embed the golf tee a little deep. Put the ball on it
- Use half the length of the tee.
- Tees planted too high or low will affect the drive stroke.
Step 2. Put the ball close to your stance
The ball is placed just a few centimeters from the left foot. In this position the swing distance will be narrowed and more controlled.
- The closer the ball is to your feet, the less power you will hit.
- The farther the ball is from the foot, the less accurate the shot will be.
Step 3. Take a narrow stance
Legs spread shoulder width apart. A narrow stance will limit the range of motion and make it easier for you to control your stroke.
Do not stand too close to the ball as this will damage the swing
Step 4. Grip the bat slightly inward
Place your hand on the inside of the stick grip, away from the tip. This grip will make it easier for you to control your stroke.
- Grasping the stick on the inside trades power for accuracy.
- Keep your hands and wrists straight.
Step 5. Pull the stick back
The weight rests evenly on both feet, then shift slightly to the right leg. Keep your head and torso straight and centered on the ball.
Return the bat to medium speed
Step 6. Swing
Swing the bat over the ball. Hit the ball slightly under it at the midpoint of the swing.
- Make sure the ball is hit with the flat part of the bat.
- Swing vigorously, but don't overdo it.
Tips
- Swing is done with energy and commitment
- Keep practicing your hitting swing.
- Bend the ball by twisting your wrist as you swing.
- Remember, it takes full body movement to hit properly, not just the hands.
- When swinging your hand never in front of the head of the stick.
Warning
- Don't forget to stretch and warm up to avoid injury.
- Never play golf under a thunderstorm.
