This wikiHow teaches you how to change the font of a PDF file. You can change this using the paid version of Adobe Acrobat, or the online service PDFescape to remove and replace text if you don't have the paid version of Adobe Acrobat.

Method 1 of 2: Using Adobe Acrobat
Step 1. Make sure you have the paid version of Adobe Acrobat
The Adobe Acrobat Reader application that many people have can open PDF files, but it doesn't allow you to edit them. In order to be able to edit files, you must have Adobe Acrobat Pro.
You can also download a free trial of Adobe Acrobat from the Adobe download page to use the editing features for free and temporarily
Step 2. Open the PDF file in Adobe Acrobat
If Adobe Acrobat is set as your computer's primary PDF reader, simply double-click the PDF file that you want to open.
If Adobe Acrobat has not been set as the main PDF file reader program, open Adobe Acrobat, click the “ File ", choose " Open… ”, select the PDF file, and click “ Open ”.
Step 3. Click Tools
It's in the upper-left corner of the Adobe Acrobat window.
Step 4. Click Edit PDF
It's a pink icon at the top of the “Tools” tab. After that, a sidebar will appear on the right side of the PDF file.
Step 5. Select the text you want to edit
Find the text you want to edit, then click and drag the cursor over the text to select it.
Step 6. Edit the text
Use the tools on the right side of the window to change the following properties or aspects:
- Font – Click the drop-down box under the " FORMAT " label, then click the font you want to use.
- Text size – Click the drop-down box containing the number, then click the larger or smaller number. You can also type in a number to use your own preferred font size.
- Text color – Click the colored box to the right of the numbered box, then click the new color.
Step 7. Save changes
Click the menu " File, then select " Save ” from the drop-down menu.
You can also choose " Save As ” to change the file name and/or location.
Method 2 of 2: Using PDFescape
Step 1. Open the PDFescape website

Step 2. Click Free Online
It's a red button on the left side of the page.
Step 3. Click Upload PDF to PDFescape
This link is at the top of the page. Once clicked, a new window will open.
Step 4. Click Choose File
It's a gray button on the left side of the page. A File Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac) window will appear.
Step 5. Select the PDF file
Click the name of the PDF file you want to edit to select it.
You may first need to click the PDF file's storage folder on the left side of the window
Step 6. Click Open
It's in the lower-right corner of the window. The selected PDF file will be opened on the PDFescape website.
Step 7. Click the Whiteout tab
It's in the top-left corner of the page.
Step 8. Remove or delete the text you want to replace
Click and drag the cursor from the upper-left corner of the text you want to replace to the lower-right corner. A white box will appear above the text.
Step 9. Click the Text tab
It's in the top-left corner of the page.
Step 10. Create a new text field
Click the far left of the deleted segment.
Step 11. Select the text property
In the toolbar at the top of the page, change the following options:
- Font – Click the name of the currently used font, then click the font you want to use from the drop-down menu.
- Text size – Click the number currently displayed on the right side of the font, then click the number or font size you want to use. The larger the number selected, the larger the text size.
- Format – Click the icon “ B ” to create text thick, knob " I ” to make text italic, or button “ U ” to make the text underlined.
- Color – Click the "Color" box, then click the desired text color from the drop-down box.
Step 12. Enter text
Type the text you want to use to replace the old text. The typed text will use all the text properties you previously set/selected.
You can also type text, select it, and change its properties
Step 13. Download the edited PDF file
Click the green, downward-pointing arrow on the left side of the page. The edited PDF file will be downloaded to the browser's main downloads repository ("Downloads").
