This wikiHow teaches you how to remove Deep Freeze on Mac and Windows computers. To remove Deep Freeze, you must first disable Deep Freeze by entering your password and setting this program not to run when the computer boots. If you have forgotten your Deep Freeze password, back up files on your computer, wipe all data on your hard drive, then delete Deep Freeze.
Step
Method 1 of 2: On Windows Computer
Step 1. Look for the Deep Freeze icon
It's a polar bear-shaped icon in the lower-right corner of the screen. Maybe you should click ^ first to bring up a list of services that are currently running.
Step 2. Run Deep Freeze
Holding down Shift, double-click the Deep Freeze icon to open the login window.
You can also do this by right-clicking the Deep Freeze icon
Step 3. Enter the password
Type in the Deep Freeze password, then click Log in.
If you forget your password, you will need to back up the data on your computer, erase the contents of your hard drive, and then reinstall Windows
Step 4. Click the Boot Control tab in the upper-left corner of the window
Step 5. Check the " Boot Thawed " box in the middle of the window
With this setting, Deep Freeze will be disabled when you restart your computer.
Step 6. Click Apply and Reboot
It's in the lower-right corner of the Deep Freeze window. The computer will restart.
- Maybe you should click OK, then Yes when prompted, before the computer restarts.
- Restarting the computer from this menu takes a long time. So let the computer do its job.
Step 7. Wait for about 30 minutes
After restarting, the computer will run very slowly and some features (e.g. menu Start) will not appear for a few minutes. Allow the computer to complete its task of loading the system for approximately 30 minutes.
Step 8. Locate the installation file
Look for the EXE file used to install Deep Freeze.
- Deep Freeze does not provide an option to uninstall the program (uninstall). Instead, you can remove the program by running the file that was used to install it. If the file no longer exists, you can download it again on the Deep Freeze site.
- The files for Deep Freeze 5 are DF5Std.exe
- The files for Deep Freeze 6 are DF6Std.exe
Step 9. Run the installation file
Double click the installation file, click the button Uninstall in the window that appears, then follow the instructions given. Next, the computer will restart and Deep Freeze will be completely removed.
Any files related to Deep Freeze will also be deleted when you uninstall this program
Method 2 of 2: On Mac Computer
Step 1. Run Deep Freeze
Find and click on the icon that looks like a polar bear's face. A drop-down menu will be displayed.
You can also run Deep Freeze by pressing Ctrl+⌥ Option+⇧ Shift+F6
Step 2. Click Login in the drop-down menu
This will bring up a text field for entering the password.
Step 3. Type in the Deep Freeze password
Type in the password used to enter Deep Freeze, then press Return.
If you forget your password, you'll need to back up the data on your computer, erase the contents of your hard drive, and then reinstall macOS
Step 4. Click Boot Control
It's in the upper-left corner of the Deep Freeze window.
Step 5. Check the " Boot Thawed " box in the middle of the window
With this setting, Deep Freeze will be disabled when you restart your Mac.
Step 6. Click Apply in the lower right corner
Step 7. Restart the Mac computer
Click Apple menu
click Restarts…, then click Restart Now when requested. The Mac computer will restart.
Step 8. Wait for about 30 minutes

Step 9. Run and unlock Deep Freeze again
Click the Deep Freeze icon, then click Login, and type in the password.
Step 10. Click Uninstall
It's in the top-right corner.
Step 11. Check the " Delete Existing Thawspace(s) " option if it exists
This option is in the middle of the page Uninstall.
Step 12. Click Uninstall which is at the bottom of the Deep Freeze window
Step 13. Follow the given instructions
Next, the Mac computer will restart and Deep Freeze will be removed.
