Broadband is a network connection technology that provides a connection to the internet at high speeds. Broadband has become a necessity for both the office and home. However, to connect to the internet using broadband, you must first install a broadband system. To set up broadband, you need to understand some basic steps.

Part 1 of 2: Beginning Stage
Step 1. Sign up for broadband service first
Broadband uses the telecommunications company's network, so you'll need to register for the service before you can start using it. Contact the nearest internet service provider or telecommunications company to find out what types of broadband services are available.
Step 2. Check your broadband package
After registering, you will be provided with a broadband equipment package which includes:
- An internet modem or router with a power adapter.
- 1 piece internet cable
- 1 piece telephone cord
- Phone filters
- 1 ADSL splitter
- The tools above are the things you'll need to set up broadband internet, and how to do that is explained in the next section.
Part 2 of 2: Installing Broadband
Step 1. Connect the ADSL branch with your phone
Start by unplugging the telepot from the wall jack, then connect it to an ADSL branch.
Broadband works with digital signals, while telephones work with analog signals. The splitter separates the incoming analog and digital signals from the telephone wires between the computer and telephone, so the signals are not mixed
Step 2. Filter other phone branches
If you have other telephone sets in the house, take a telephone filter and connect the filter between the telephone and the wall jack, just as you would an ADSL branch.
Telephone filters work like ADSL splitters, but instead of dividing analog and digital signals, they filter digital signals so that the phone doesn't mess up when in use
Step 3. Connect the phone to one of the ADSL branch ports labeled "Tel
Take the telephone cable that you get from the broadband package, then plug the cable into the DSL port on the branch.
Step 4. Plug in the other end of the telephone cable and reconnect it to the supplied modem/router
There's only one hole on the router/modem that fits a phone cable (the smaller one), so connecting the cable to the right hole should be an easy thing to do.
Step 5. Take the internet cable from the broadband package, then plug the cable into one of the internet ports on the back of the router / modem
Most routers have four internet ports; You can plug the cable into any of the four holes.
Step 6. Take the other end of the internet cable, then plug that end into the internet port on the back of the computer (located near the speaker jack) or laptop (along the side of the laptop or on the back)
There's only one hole on the computer that fits an internet cable, so it shouldn't be difficult for you to find one.
Step 7. Connect the power cable to the router or modem, then plug the cable into a wall outlet
Press the Power button on the modem/router and the light on the router or modem should flash; this indicates the modem / router is being turned on.
Once the light is steady, turn on your computer, then open a web browser, and start browsing the network
Tips
- Broadband services vary by region. Talk to the nearest internet service provider to inquire about available broadband networks.
- Most internet service providers (ISPs) provide the installation process with their technicians free of charge.
- When you successfully register for broadband service, a router / modem is usually included in the package, but you can choose to use routers and modems purchased from third parties.
