This wikiHow teaches you how to tell when someone was last seen active on Facebook. However, if your friend has logged out of the Facebook chat, his last active time will no longer be visible.

Step 1. Visit https://www.facebook.com via a web browser
If you don't see your timeline page, type your login ID in the top right corner of the page. After that, click enter.

You only need to do this if you don't see a list of contact names on the right side of the Facebook page. You can skip this step if the list of active contacts is visible on the right side of the page.
Step 3. Find the name of the friend you want to know the last time he was active
You can see the last time he was active to the right of his name.
- For example, if you see "1 hour" it means it was last active 1 hour ago. Whereas if you see "22m" it means, he last used Facebook 22 minutes ago.
- The list on the right of the Facebook page only shows a list of the people you have contacted most frequently and recently. The friend you're trying to find out may not appear on your list if you haven't talked to him in a while.
