You love the beautiful look of your stainless steel refrigerator. However, one day a dent appeared in the refrigerator. Instead of getting frustrated, try to repair the dent in the stainless steel refrigerator yourself. However, be aware that not all dents can be repaired at home. To remove dents, you can try hot and cold methods. However, be prepared to use the services of a professional when all your efforts are fruitless.
Step
Method 1 of 2: Using Hot and Cold
Step 1. Use hot air
Take a hairdryer or heat gun. Blow hot air directly on the dent, for about 1 minute. You need to really heat this metal so it expands. Once cool, the metal will shrink and return to a smooth finish.
Step 2. Use dry ice
Dry ice is very cold. Therefore, you can use dry ice to shrink and repair the dent. You should first wrap the dry ice in a cloth to protect the metal and your hands and prevent scratches. Apply for 1 minute or until you see the metal appear to have cooled.
Make sure you wear protective gloves. Dry ice can burn fingers like a stove fire
Step 3. Blow out the condensed air
Prepare a can of air that is used to blow your keyboard. Now, ignore the guidelines that say don't overturn the can. Blow air into the dent using an inverted can to blow out the cool condensed air. Blow several times. The cold air from the can will shrink the dent so it's smooth again.
Don't let the cold air hit your hands. This air can burn the skin like dry ice
Method 2 of 2: Using a Suction Tool
Step 1. Clean the dented area
Some defect repair kits usually have a cleaning solution. However, this liquid is usually just isopropyl alcohol. Rub the cleaning solution on the dented area to remove the grease. You will be using glue in this method so the metal surface must be clean for the glue to stick. The oil and coating will cause the glue to peel off immediately.
The metallic finish may be lost when rubbed with isopropyl alcohol. So, it's best to do this method as a last resort
Step 2. Purchase a car dent repair kit
You can buy it online or in a repair shop. This tool has a suction cup that is glued to the dented metal with hot glue.
Step 3. Glue the suction cup of the car dent repair tool
Heat the glue gun. Choose a suction cup that is larger than the dent. Apply glue to the cup, and stick it to the dent in the metal.
You can use any hot glue gun, but high temp guns do better
Step 4. Position the blade on the tool
There is a screw sticking out of the back of the suction cup, and connecting with the blade on top. This blade has a plate on each end. Once these blades are attached to the refrigerator, attach the knobs to the screws on the back of the suction cup and lightly twist them tightly together. Don't press too hard at this time as all the components are still not in place.
Step 5. Bring the plates together with small cups
Most of these tools have a way of adjusting the two plates to produce a retractable lever. Place it as close to the center of the suction cup as possible. Thus, the metal is not attracted too much to the outer edges.
Step 6. Tighten the center of the suction cup
Once everything is in place, you can simply continue to tighten the crown screw in the middle. In this way, the suction cup will be under pressure, and will be pulled in slowly. In the end, all parts will be smooth again.
Step 7. Repeat as needed
This will reduce dents in the metal. However, the process is not fast. So, sit on a chair and wait comfortably. It may be necessary to repeat this process 10 times until the dent is no longer visible.
Step 8. Try using a toilet vacuum
Sometimes dents in the refrigerator can be repaired without the help of glue. Clean the toilet sucker and place it in the dented part of the refrigerator. After that, try to suck until the dent returns to normal.
