Snapchat may lock or block your account if you use third-party apps or plug-ins, post unwanted or violent content, or add too many friends without verification. Accounts can also be locked or blocked if they are suspected of being misused by others. If your Snapchat account is temporarily locked, you'll usually be able to access it again after 24 hours. This wikiHow teaches you how to re-access a locked or blocked Snapchat account.
Step
Method 1 of 2: Using the Unblock or Lockout Page
Step 1. Remove third-party Snapchat apps or add-ons
If you use an unauthorized third-party app or add-on to access Snapchat, you'll need to remove the app or add-on in question from your iPhone or Android device before trying to access your account again.
Sometimes, unauthorized apps that only work on a jailbroken iPhone or iPad cannot be permanently removed. If you're having issues like this, you'll need to update your operating system to the latest iOS version in order to uninstall the app
Step 2. Visit https://accounts.snapchat.com/accounts/unlock via a web browser
If your account is temporarily locked, you can use this website on a computer, phone or tablet to access it after a few hours. For more serious violations, you may need to wait up to 24 hours before being able to access your account again.
Step 3. Log in to your Snapchat account
Enter the same username and password as the entry used to access your Snapchat account via the app, then click or tap “ Log in ”.
Step 4. Click or tap Unlock
It's a yellow button at the bottom of the page. If the elapsed time is deemed sufficient, you will see a message indicating that the account has been re-opened. If the duration isn't enough, try again in a few hours.
Step 5. Verify your email account with Snapchat
After logging into your account again, it's a good idea to re-verify your email account with Snapchat so you don't get deactivated because you added too many friends. Here's how:
- Open the Snapchat app on your phone or tablet. This app is marked by a yellow and white ghost icon.
- Tap the profile icon in the upper-left corner of the screen.
- Tap the gear icon in the top right corner of the screen.
- Touch " E-mail ”.
- Enter a valid email address and tap “ Save ”.
- Enter the Snapchat account password and tap “ Continue ”.
- Check your email and open the verification message from Snapchat.
- Touch " Confirm email ”.
Method 2 of 2: Contacting Snapchat Pihak
Step 1. Visit https://support.snapchat.com/en-US/i-need-help via a web browser
If you can't re-access your account after 24 hours using the previous method (using the unlock page), you can still contact Snapchat to unlock or block your account.
Step 2. Click or tap the circle next to "My account login"
This option is the first option under the words " What can we help you with? ".
Step 3. Click or tap the circle next to "I think my account was hacked"
This option is one of the options under the "Oh no! Tell us more" heading.
Step 4. Click or touch Yes
It's next to the " Need help with something else? " header at the bottom of the page. A form will appear and you can fill it out to contact Snapchat via email.
Step 5. Enter your username, email address, and phone number into the fields provided
Step 6. Type in a polite email message asking for account re-activation
Use the space provided to politely describe the situation you are in. Explain what locked your account and reassure Snapchat that you will follow their terms of service from now on. Use language as politely as possible.
Step 7. Click or touch Send
It's a yellow button at the bottom of the page. If the explanation you include in the message is polite and reflects understanding, you can convince Snapchat to unlock or block the account. If the letter you sent was rude or disrespectful, or you repeat the same offense frequently, there's a good chance that you won't be able to regain access to your account.
