This wikiHow teaches you how to create a frame around text, images, or pages in a Microsoft Word document.

Method 1 of 2: Adding Frames to Document Content
Step 1. Open a Word document
Double-click the Word document that you want to add a frame to. After that, the document will be opened.
If you haven't created a document yet, open the Word program, click " Blank documents ”, and create the necessary documents before continuing.
Step 2. Click the Home tab
This tab is at the top of the Word window. After that, the appropriate toolbar will be displayed.
Step 3. Select content
Click and drag the cursor over the text or image you want to add a frame to.
Step 4. Look for the “Borders” button
This button looks like a square divided into four smaller squares. You can find it in the "Paragraph" section of the toolbar, just to the right of the paint bucket icon.
Skip this step if you are using a Mac computer
Step 5. Click
next to the " Borders " button.
This down arrow is to the right of the " Borders " button. Once clicked, a drop-down menu will open.
On a Mac computer, click the “ Format ” at the top of the screen.
Step 6. Click Borders and Shading…
This option is at the bottom of the drop-down menu.
On Mac computers, it's in the middle of the drop-down menu. Format ”.
Step 7. Select the frame settings
In the left column, click the frame option that you want to use.
For example, if you want to add a simple frame that surrounds the text, click the option “ Box ”.
Step 8. Choose a frame design
In the " Style " column, scroll through the screen until you find the frame design you want, then click the design.
If necessary, you can change the color and thickness of the frame from the " Color " and " Width " menus
Step 9. Click OK
It's at the bottom of the window. After that, the frame will be applied to the selected text or image.
Method 2 of 2: Adding a Frame to a Page
Step 1. Open a Word document
Double-click the Word document that you want to add a frame to. After that, the document will be opened.
If you haven't created a document yet, open the Word program, click " Blank documents ”, and create the necessary documents before continuing.
Step 2. Place the cursor to create a new segment
If you don't want to add a frame to every page of the document, place the cursor at the bottom of the page before the page you want to add a frame to.
If you want to apply a frame to every page in your document, skip this step and the next
Step 3. Create a new segment
By creating a segment, the frame will not be applied to the entire document:
- Click the tab " Layout ”.
- Click " Breaks ” in the "Page Setup" section.
- Click " Next Page ” from the displayed drop-down menu.
Step 4. Click the Design tab
It's at the top of the Word window.
Step 5. Click Page Borders
It's at the far right of the toolbar " Design " After that, a pop-up window will be displayed.
Step 6. Select the frame settings
In the left column, click the frame option that you want to use.
For example, if you want to use a simple frame that surrounds the text, click the “ Box ”.
Step 7. Choose a frame design
In the " Style " column, scroll down until you find the frame design you want to use, then click on it.
If necessary, you can also change the color and thickness of the frame from the " Color " and " Width " drop-down menus
Step 8. Select the desired page
If you created a new segment previously in this method, click the "Apply to" drop-down box, then click the segment you want to add a frame to in the drop-down menu.
To apply a frame to the first page of the segment, for example, click “ This section - first page only ” in the drop-down menu.
Step 9. Click OK
It's at the bottom of the page. After that, the frame will be applied to the selected document page.
