This wikiHow teaches you how to activate Adobe Flash Player, the only plugin for Google Chrome, and how to install an extension to Google Chrome for desktop computers. Since most plugin-based services are already integrated with Chrome, Google no longer allows users to install their own add-ons. Chrome extensions are not available for the mobile version of Google Chrome.

Part 1 of 2: Enabling Flash Player
Step 1. Open Google Chrome
The app icon looks like a green, yellow, red, and blue ball.
Step 2. Click
It's in the upper-right corner of the window. After that, a drop-down menu will be displayed.
Step 3. Click Settings
This option is at the bottom of the drop-down menu.
Step 4. Scroll down and click on Advanced
This option is at the bottom of the page. Additional options will be displayed under the “ Advanced ”.
Step 5. Scroll down and click Content settings
This option is at the bottom of the "Privacy & security" group of options.
Step 6. Click Flash
The jigsaw puzzle piece icon is in the center of the page.
Step 7. Activate Flash Player
Click the white "Allow sites to run Flash" switch
. The switch color will change to blue
. This color change indicates that Flash Player has been activated in your browser.
You can also click the " Ask first " switch to automatically disable or enable Flash on all websites. If the “Ask first” option is enabled, you need to click the “ Allow ” or the Flash icon on websites that require Flash before loading.
Part 2 of 2: Adding Extensions
Step 1. Open Google Chrome
This app is marked by a red, yellow, green, and blue ball icon.
Step 2. Click
It's in the upper-right corner of the window. Once clicked, a drop-down menu will appear.
Step 3. Select More tools
This option is at the bottom of the drop-down menu. A pop-out menu will appear after that.
Step 4. Click Extensions
It's in the middle of the pop-out menu. Once clicked, the extensions page (“Extensions”) will be opened.
Step 5. Scroll down and click Get more extensions
It's in the lower-left corner of the page. After that, you will be taken to the Chrome Web Store.
Step 6. Enter the search key word or phrase
Click the " Search the store " text field in the upper-left corner of the page, type a search word or key phrase, and press Enter. After that, the extension that matches the search entry will be searched.
Step 7. Find the extension you want to install
Scroll through the entries displayed in the " Extensions " section at the top of the page until you find the extension you want, or change the search word or key phrase to find another entry.
Step 8. Click + ADD TO CHROME
It's a blue button to the far right of the extension's name.
Step 9. Click Add extension when prompted
The extension will be added to Chrome after a few seconds. You may be asked to reload the page before you can use the extension.
Tips
- Extensions are not the same as plugins, but some extensions offer web page functionality that cannot be accessed without the extension itself.
- Now, various plugins cannot be installed manually as most of the plugins are preinstalled on Google Chrome.
