Zooming in and out (zooming in and zooming out) on a computer is very simple, and you can even do it with just the press of two buttons. Some people may say they want to zoom out, but what they really mean is changing the screen resolution, which makes the screen look minimized.
Step
Method 1 of 6: Using the Keyboard
Step 1. Click the page you want to shrink
This method works best for most users. This method is the fastest and easiest to do, especially for laptop users who do not have a mouse (mouse).
Step 2. Press and hold the Ctrl key
Step 3. Press the - button at the top of the keyboard, which is between zero and the equals sign
Alternatively, press and hold the Ctrl key, then scroll the mouse up.
Method 2 of 6: Using Mouse or Trackpad
Step 1. Click the page you want to shrink
This method may be a bit tricky if you're using a laptop trackpad because the trackpad is difficult to control, but mouse users may prefer this method.
Step 2. Press and hold the Ctrl key
Step 3. Roll the center wheel on the mouse or swipe the trackpad up
Method 3 of 6: On Google Chrome
Step 1. Find the menu icon
By default, the menu icon consists of three horizontal lines at the top right of the window. If you don't move it, the icon should align with the URL bar in your browser.
Step 2. Find the "Zoom" option
It's in the middle of the menu list, with a - and a + sign flanking the screen magnification percentage.
Step 3. Press - until the size is what you want
Method 4 of 6: In Mozilla Firefox
Step 1. Click the menu button
By default, the Firefox menu icon should be three horizontal lines in the top right corner. If you don't move it, it should be next to your browser's URL bar.
Step 2. Find the Zoom function
Just below the Copy option, you'll see the percentages flanked by - and + signs.
Step 3. Press the - sign to zoom out
Method 5 of 6: Using Microsoft Edge
Step 1. Find the menu icon
By default, the menu icon is three dots in the upper right corner of the screen. If you don't move it, it should be next to the URL bar in your browser.
Step 2. Find the display sizing function
The function should be labeled "zoom", with a + and - sign to the right of it.
Step 3. Press the - button to shrink the display until the page content reaches your desired size
Method 6 of 6: Changing the Screen Resolution
Step 1. Open the Start menu
Click the Win button at the bottom left of your keyboard. By doing so, the desktop screen will be minimized to the maximum, so that all windows are displayed at a smaller scale within one larger workspace. In this way, the screen looks more spacious.
Step 2. Open settings on the computer
Click Settings to do so.
Step 3. Click System > Display > Advanced Display settings
The Advanced Display Settings options are located under the Display options.
Step 4. Change the screen resolution
You can do this by clicking the drop-down arrow under "Resolution". The higher the resolution number you choose, the "smaller" the screen will appear. You'll need to confirm your selection to make the changes you make.
Tips
- Press Ctrl+0 to return the screen to normal size
- If you are having trouble reducing the display, try restarting your computer. All displays should be reverted to the standard zoom size, but the screen resolution will not be reverted to the standard resolution.
- You can use the Magnifier app to select a specific area of the screen that you want to zoom in or out of. You can find the application by going to: Start >> Programs >> Accessories >> Accessibility >> Magnifier. Alternatively, you can search for the keyword "magnifier" using the search function on your computer.
