Apple computers are equipped with features that can help you burn CDs and DVDs. DVDs can hold more than CDs. You can create DVDs with customized content in minutes. Follow these steps to burn a DVD with a Mac computer.

Part 1 of 3: Checking System Specifications
Step 1. Determine if your computer can write data to a DVD before you try to burn a DVD with a Mac
- MacBook Air computers without disc drives don't have the Mac SuperDrive needed to burn DVDs.
- Some older Mac laptops and computers don't have a SuperDrive; however, SuperDrive is usually built into newer Macs.
Step 2. Check the system specifications of the computer to make sure that the computer can write data to the DVD
- Log in to the desktop. Click the Apple icon in the top-left corner of the screen.
- Select "About This Mac." Wait for the dialog box to appear. Click on "More Info…"
- Select "Disc burning" in the list of topics in the left column. Look for "DVD-Write:" in the list column on the right.
- If it says "-R" and "-RW" on the list, you can burn a DVD.
Part 2 of 3: Collecting Mac Files
Step 1. Go back to the desktop
Step 2. Right-click with the mouse on an empty space
You can also press "Control" and "Enter" located under the track pad.
Step 3. Select "New Folder"' from the list of options. You can also select "New Burn Folder" on some computers.
Step 4. Name the fold that is being highlighted
Click and drag movies, files, and other data into the new folder.
If you want to take a movie from a DVD and burn it onto a new DVD, you'll need a program that can rip the DVD. While there is no such licensed Mac application, you can download a free program like Mac the Ripper to rip DVD content
Part 3 of 3: Burn DVD
Step 1. Double click on the new folder
You should see the files listed in the folder.
Step 2. Click the gear icon at the top of the folder dialog box
There will be the word "Action" under the gear icon.
Step 3. Select Burn Name Folder to Disc …"
Step 4. Insert a blank writable DVD into the disc drive
Step 5. Wait for the disc to start burning automatically or click Burn. "
Step 6. Let the Mac burn and finish the DVD burning process before you try to access it
Click the DVD to play it, or eject the DVD and run it in the DVD player.
