Clash of Clans is a good game, but what do you do when upgrades start to get more and more expensive? In the later stages of the game, you may need to spend days waiting for the source of income you need. This is when farming comes into play. Farming is a practice where you deliberately lower your level so that you can attack weaker players and steal their wealth. See Step 1 below to learn how to farm effectively and make the upgrades you need.
Step
Part 1 of 4: Preparation before Farming
Step 1. Understand the basics of farming
Farming is a term that describes attacking a weaker city to get its wealth. This involves deliberate defeat in order to lower yourself to a lower level, giving you the opportunity to attack weaker opponents. Since Clash of Clans has several systems to prevent farming, you will need to manipulate a few things to your advantage.
Farming depends on trophies and Town Hall level. You will receive a penalty if you attack a city that has a Town Hall that is one level or lower than your Town Hall, so you need to balance your levels and trophies. That will be discussed further later
Step 2. Set your city
Before you start farming, make sure that your city is set up appropriately enough to protect your wealth and can let you lose enough trophies to get down to your desired level. There are several strategies to keep in mind when designing a city.
- Protect your store of wealth (storage). Since you're farming to get rich, don't let your fortune be taken by lucky invaders. Place your treasure chest in the center of the city, surrounded by several walls and various defensive buildings.
- Place the Town Hall outside the wall. This may seem like a pain, but this is the point. Apart from giving more space between the walls to place the treasure stores, it also allows other players to lower your trophies more quickly, which is important for you to stay at your desired level.
- Spread the wealth store buildings all over your walled fortifications. Do not place the stores of wealth next to each other.
- Place high-level resource collectors inside the walls and place the others outside. Always check the game every 6 to 8 hours and collect wealth from collectors.
Step 3. Get the "Sweet Victory" achievement
These are achievements that are awarded after you have won a certain number of trophies from multiplayer battles and you will be rewarded with almost enough gems to purchase a third Builder's Hut. This is important in the process of upgrading your city.
Step 4. Get approx 1,100-1,200 trophies
This is considered an ideal trophy range for farming as you can get a significant amount of wealth without running into too strong an opponent. If you have a good army and strong fort, you can move up to the 2000-2500 trophy range because at that level you can usually find more treasures to rob, especially dark elixir.
Step 5. Don't rush to level up the Town Hall
Town Hall determines the amount of wealth you can loot from other cities. If you attack a town with a Town Hall 2 levels lower than your Town Hall, you will only get 50% of the loot, and if you attack a Town Hall 3 levels above you, you will get double the loot.
- Maximize all defense building upgrades, troop buildings, and walls before upgrading Town Hall.
- The best Town Hall level for farming is generally 5-7.
Part 2 of 4: Building an Army
Step 1. Build at least four barracks
Of course you want your troops to be constantly strengthened, so you need as little time as possible between attacks. With four barracks, you can regain a large number of troops after the previous attack is complete.
Step 2. Build a good troop mix
There's a lot of variation on the best setup for a farming troop, but in general you'll need a combination of several Goblins, Archers, Barbarians, Giants, and Wall breakers.
- Giant has a high price, so make it in small quantities.
- Players at the initial level only need to focus on an army consisting of many Barbarians.
- At advanced levels, the number of Goblins will generally outnumber the troops, although there are also some strategies that suggest building more Archers.
- As you level up the Town Hall, the size of the troop holding will increase, so the troops you can carry are more varied.
Step 3. Consider using Minions too
Minions are trained very quickly at a price that is not too expensive, so Minions are good for quickly strengthening troops. Minions can be very useful if you're trying to farm as quickly as possible because you can replenish your troops between battles quickly.
Step 4. Know the troop costs
When you are deciding whether to attack a city or not, it helps to know how much it will cost to build your army. Calculate the total cost of your troops, then calculate 1/3 of the total cost (This will help you determine the right time to withdraw). Don't let your loot be worth less than the troops you sacrificed.
Part 3 of 4: Finding the Target
Step 1. Look for a specific type of wealth
You'll be more successful when you're farming if you focus on a specific type of wealth, not on a city with a variety of riches. Having a variety of wealth also makes you a target for other players who are also farming.
Pay attention to the upgrades you need next and focus on the wealth they need
Step 2. Look at the total wealth
Ideally, the city you're targeting has a hundred thousand riches at your disposal and doesn't require many troops to retrieve them. You can also look for cities that have more wealth and are not well protected.
Step 3. Look for an inactive city
This is the best goal you can find, because you can usually get a lot of results with very little effort.
- If a city has a gray league shield, then that city has been inactive for at least this season.
- If the Builder's Hut is "sleeping", it looks like the player has abandoned the fort.
- Pay attention to the round numbers on lootable wealth. This usually indicates that the treasure chest is unfilled and the collector is in full condition, which can be easily retrieved.
Step 4. Pay attention to the Town Hall level
Make sure that you always pay attention to your opponent's Town Hall level. You will be given a penalty of 10% deduction if you attack a Town Hall 1 level below you and 50% for a Town Hall 2 levels below you. If you think you can, attack the city that has a higher Town Hall because you will get a bonus reward.
Part 4 of 4: Attacking the City
Step 1. Raid the collector
These are usually the best in farming as collectors are more vulnerable to attack than treasure hoarders. Make sure that you only do this when you find a city with a full collector.
Step 2. Raid the store of wealth
If you can't find a city with full collectors, then you need to raid the store of wealth. Try to find cities with sub-optimal fortifications or poorly protected stores of wealth so that you have enough time to destroy them and rob them of their wealth.
Step 3. Lower troops in small numbers
Send troops in groups of approximately five troops to minimize the effects of Mortars and Wizard Towers, which can destroy troops gathered in large groups.
- Use Giant as a diversion because Giant can withstand a lot of attacks.
- Do not lower Wall Breaker when Mortar attack comes.
Step 4. Focus on wealth first
When the attack begins, focus and prioritize your opponent's wealth. Destroy the wealth or the store of wealth, depending on your raid. This usually results in an average destruction of 30%.
Step 5. Avoid using magic
Magic can turn the tide of battle, but magic can also be very expensive. Try not to use magic if possible or you won't benefit from the attack.
Step 6. Get the destruction rate up to 50%
Use Archers to destroy multiple unprotected buildings to increase their destruction rate by 50%. This will help you win some trophies so you can keep your cup level.
Step 7. Keep your trophy level
Try to always have trophies in the 1100-1200 range. If your trophy goes above 1200, then you can purposely lose some fights to get your trophy down again. If you are at a trophy level too high, then you will have a very difficult time finding suitable targets in an effort to do farming.
