Step
Method 1 of 4: Honey Lip Gloss
Step 1. Take a medium sized bowl
Add one spoon of honey and one spoon of petrolatum (or Vaseline). Mix until smooth.
Step 2. Melt the ingredients that have been mixed well in the microwave
Step 3. Take another bowl
Step 4. Add vanilla extract or other flavors to taste
Step 5. Add a small drop of strawberry and mango essence
Step 6. Stir until well blended
Pour the mixture into the bowl of honey and petrolatum and mix again until all of the ingredients are a smooth consistency.
Step 7. Pour the finished mixture into a container
Place the container in the freezer for at least half an hour.
Step 8. Lip Gloss ready to use.
Method 2 of 4: Soft Lip Balm
This method will produce a creamy lip balm.
Step 1. Take a microwave-safe bowl
Place the petrolatum (or Vaseline) in a bowl. Use as much as needed to make a lip balm (1-4 tablespoons). Remember that the more you use petrolatum, the clearer the lip balm will be. On the other hand, the less petrolatum you use, the more vivid the lip balm will be.
Step 2. Add the color you like
It's a good idea to add color little by little until you get the color you want.
Optional: Make a colorful lip balm. Clean up a small cosmetic palette (for kids) and use an empty palette to print out colorful lip balms
Step 3. Stir the ingredients until well blended
If you don't mix it well, the resulting lip balm is not what you expected.
Step 4. Put the mixed ingredients in the microwave
Run the microwave for 10 seconds, no more. The material will be soft and warm, but not melted.
Step 5. Transfer the softened balsam to an old lip balm container or small tin
Step 6. Freeze in the freezer for 25 minutes
After that, the lip balm is ready to use.
Step 7. Congratulations on your new lip balm
Method 3 of 4: Lip Gloss with Lipstick or Eyeshadow
Step 1. Melt the petrolatum in the microwave for 25 seconds
Step 2. Take it out
Add a little lipstick or eye shadow according to your favorite color.
- You can also mix colors to come up with new, unique colors.
- The color will look lighter when applied to the lips.
- Recommended colors are pink and red. Other colors, such as blue and green, will appear lighter.
Step 3. Use a spoon to stir the ingredients until well combined
Step 4. Put it in a suitable container
Step 5. Freeze or chill in the refrigerator for about 20-30 minutes
Step 6. Congratulations on using your homemade lip balm
Method 4 of 4: Tinted & Glossy Lip Balm
Step 1. Place the petrolatum in a small container
Make sure the container is microwave safe.
Step 2. Open the lipstick cap
Cut the lipstick stem in half and mix it with the petrolatum to make a paste. Cut the lipstick into small pieces to make it easier to melt.
Step 3. Sprinkle some glitter
For a shimmery lip balm, sprinkle some glitter into the mixture.
Step 4. Heat in the microwave for 20 seconds
Use a fork to make sure all the ingredients are well mixed. Pour into a permanent container.
Step 5. Freeze for an hour
This step helps the lip gloss to harden.
Step 6. Remove the lip gloss from the refrigerator
Wait until the lip gloss reaches room temperature. Lip gloss is ready to use!
Tips
- Don't use your favorite lipstick for the first try. If the resulting lip gloss does not live up to expectations, the lipstick will be wasted. Instead, use cheap lipstick or extra lipstick.
- After applying lip gloss, and you are not satisfied with the gloss, try applying a transparent lip gloss over it to make the look more glossy.
- Do not use petrolatum which contains fragrance.
- You want a more dense, non-transparent lip balm? Use cocoa butter instead of petrolatum. You can buy them at your local drugstore.
- Buy good quality petrolatum for a good lip gloss.
- Use fine glitter so it doesn't scratch your lips.
- If you don't have a microwave, crush the lipstick and mix it with petrolatum and dip the container in hot water.
- Melt the petrolatum in a mini oven for 2-3 minutes.
- Try using banana extract instead of vanilla.
- If you don't have a tool to heat the ingredients, crush them until they are very smooth and have a petrolatum-like texture.
Warning
- Make sure you use a microwave safe container. Do not directly touch the lip balm mixture as it may be very hot. Use the correct tools to handle hot lip balm.
- Make sure you do an allergy test for all the ingredients used to make lip gloss.
