Step
Method 1 of 4: Making a Fruity Kool-aid Lip Gloss
Step 1. Melt the petroleum jelly
Put the petroleum jelly in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat for 30 seconds. Remove the jelly and stir, checking for consistency. Continue heating for 30 seconds until it turns to liquid.
- Be careful when you remove the bowl from the microwave. This bowl will feel very hot.
- You can also heat the jelly on the stove. Place the jelly in a preheated bowl and place it over a saucepan of boiling water. Make sure the bowl doesn't touch the water. Stir until the jelly turns into a liquid.
Step 2. Enter Kool-aid
When this jelly has turned into a liquid, let it cool for a while. The temperature of this liquid jelly should be the same as room temperature. Pour the Kool-aid into the liquid jelly. Stir until the crystals from the Kool-aid have dissolved.
- You can use any Kool-aid flavor or color. This choice depends on your taste.
- If you don't like Kool-aid or want a more natural fruit alternative, add 1-2 teaspoons of fruit juice.
- Don't wait too long. This jelly can harden again. If this happens, heat the jelly again.
Step 3. Finish this lip gloss
Pour this mixture into a small lip gloss container. Allow this mixture to cool in the container. The mixture should turn firm in about two hours. When it's been two hours, check for consistency. If it's still too runny, leave it for another hour.
The number of containers of lip gloss needed to accommodate it depends on the size of the container used. You can buy containers like these at beauty supply stores
Method 2 of 4: Making a 'Lip Gloss with Peppermint Flavor
Step 1. Bring the water to a boil
Add water to a height of about 2.5 cm in the pot. Cook on the stove over medium heat. Heat the water until it is steaming with steam.
Step 2. Melt the ingredients used
Place all ingredients in a heatproof bowl. Place the bowl over the boiling water, making sure the bottom of the bowl doesn't touch the water. Use a small spoon or spatula to stir these ingredients together. Keep stirring these ingredients until all the ingredients are melted and evenly mixed. It should only take 5 minutes.
You'll know when all the ingredients are melted when the mixture is soft
Step 3. Put the mixture into a container
Pour these ingredients into a small, sterile lip gloss container. Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature. This should take 1 hour.
Maybe you can put it in the fridge to cool it down faster
Step 4. Use this homemade lip gloss
Apply to lips with a small brush or fingertips. Keep this lip gloss in a bag. Lip gloss can melt back when the temperature is high. If this happens, place the container in the refrigerator to harden it again.
This recipe provides one container of lip gloss that can last for two months
Method 3 of 4: Making Rose Lip Gloss
Step 1. Melt all ingredients
Place all ingredients in a small saucepan. Heat over low heat until all ingredients are melted and mixed with each other.
- You can also use flower petals or other herbs if you don't like roses.
- You can also heat all the ingredients in a glass bowl in the microwave at 30 second intervals until they are melted and soft.
Step 2. Strain this mixture
Pour the mixture through a small sieve into another bowl underneath. This will separate the rose petals from your lip gloss.
If you wish, you can leave the petals mixed into the mixture. It looks cuter
Step 3. Finish this lip gloss
Pour the mixture into a sterile lip gloss container. Let the mixture cool for 2-3 hours or until it solidifies. Lip gloss is ready to use.
- This recipe makes 6 small containers of lip gloss.
- The beeswax used to make this lip gloss is hard enough to fit in a tube container. You can buy it at a beauty supply store.
Method 4 of 4: Making Lip Gloss with Peppermint Flavor
Step 1. Melt the oil and wax
Place the almond oil and beeswax in a glass jar. Close this jar. Place these jars in a saucepan of water over medium heat. Leave the jar in the water until the wax melts.
Make sure there is enough water in the pot to the same height as the mixture in the jar
Step 2. Add flavor
Remove the jar from the pot and open the lid. Stir these ingredients until evenly mixed. Add the peppermint oil to the mixture in the jar.
- Don't add too much peppermint oil as it can burn your lips. Start by dripping 8 drops of this oil. You can add it if you feel it's not enough.
- You can add a little bit of lipstick to the mix if you want to add color to your lip gloss.
Step 3. Cool the lip gloss
Pour the mixture into a clean container. Leave the container open for 2-3 hours or until it hardens.
You can use an old mint candy metal container to store lip gloss. The minty scent lingers in this metal container just the right size to store the lip gloss produced by this recipe
