Applying lubricant for the first time may sound difficult, but not to worry! K-Y Jelly is a water-based lubricant that can make sexual activity and masturbation more comfortable, and can be used together with condoms. If you use K-Y Jelly for sex or masturbation, apply 1 or 2 drops of the product to the genital area or sex toy and add as needed. To use the K-Y Jelly Yours + Mine product, use the blue gel to lubricate the penis and apply the purple gel to the vagina. Although K-Y Jelly is relatively safe to use, this product can sometimes trigger allergic reactions or bacterial infections of the genitals.

Method 1 of 3: Having Sex or Masturbating
Step 1. Apply 1 or 2 drops of K-Y Jelly directly to the penis or sex toy
It's a good idea to apply lubricant to the penis or sex toy because the gel will later spread to the vagina or anus during sex.
- For easier application, drip K-Y Jelly into your fingers, then apply to a penis or toy. Remember, this method will make the use of the product more wasteful.
- If you apply lubricant to your vagina or anus, you may experience pain from the friction that is too intense when your penis or sex toy touches an unlubricated area.
Step 2. Apply lubricant to the surface of the condom when you use it
You can use regular K-Y Jelly to lubricate the condom and it is best to apply the lubricant on the outside of the condom. Position the bottle just above the condom and dispense 1 or 2 drops of lubricant.
You can use K-Y Jelly even if your condom has been lubricated. However, using too much lubricant can reduce sensitivity during sex because it reduces friction
Tip:
Apply 1 or 2 drops of lubricant to the tip of the condom before putting it on to prevent the condom from rubbing against the top of your penis.
Step 3. Use your fingers to lightly spread the K-Y Jelly
Apply the lubricant thinly until evenly distributed over the entire surface of the penis or sex toy. A penis or sex toy will feel a little slippery to the touch with your hands when used correctly, but not too slippery or soaking wet.
If the penis feels very slippery or wet, use a towel to wipe off some of the excess lubricant. There is no reason to worry when you apply too much lubricant because this product is easy to clean
Step 4. Add K-Y Jelly as needed to cover the entire surface of the penis or sex toy
If your penis or sex toy still feels dry or less slippery, add 1 or 2 drops of lubricant to it. Keep adding lubricant until you feel the texture is quite slippery.
The amount of lubricant needed depends on the size of your penis or sex toy, as well as the amount of natural lubricant that comes out of the vagina at that time

Step 5. Have lubricant nearby so you can add it as needed
K-Y Jelly dries quickly because it contains water. As such, you may need to add more lubricant when having sex or masturbating. Place the lubricant on the side of the bed or in a nearby area. After that, apply more lubricant if you start to feel more friction.
You can also reactivate the lubricant by adding water, if desired
Method 2 of 3: Try Yours + Mine Products
Step 1. Do not use Yours + Mine products with condoms as this can cause damage
While regular K-Y Jelly is safe to use with condoms, Yours + Mine products may cause damage or leakage. Do not use this product if you rely on condoms to protect yourself from pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases.
- Since Yours + Mine products don't protect against pregnancy, you'll need to wear other protection to avoid getting pregnant.
- If you are concerned about the risk of sexually transmitted diseases, you should only use condoms and do not use Yours + Mine products.
Step 2. Apply 1 or 2 drops of blue lubricant (Yours) to the penis
Position the blue bottle over the penis, then squeeze until the contents come out 1 or 2 drops. Use your fingers to spread the lubricant over the entire surface of the penis until it forms a thin layer. Make sure the penis feels smooth enough to touch with your fingers.
Add more lubricant if you feel the penis is not coated evenly
Step 3. Apply and apply 1 or 2 drops of purple lubricant (Mine) to the vagina
Apply a few drops of lubricant to your finger or drop 1 or 2 drops of lubricant directly into your vagina. After that, use your finger to rub the outside of the vagina so that the K-Y Jelly lubricant is evenly distributed and forms a thin layer.
You can increase the amount of lubricant if necessary

Method 3 of 3: Using K-Y Jelly Safely
Step 1. Call your doctor if you use a topical medication in the genital area
K-Y Jelly is a topical product so it rarely reacts with any medications you are currently taking. However, this product can react with topical medications you use around the pubic area. If you are taking any of these medicines, consult your doctor first before using K-Y Jelly.
For example, some medicines for genital warts are used topically
Step 2. Consult a doctor before applying lubricant to injured, sore, or irritated skin
In addition, you may have a higher risk of developing an allergic skin reaction. Consult a doctor before applying K-Y Jelly on injured skin to make sure it is safe.
Your doctor may advise you to wait until the skin heals
Step 3. Seek help immediately if you have an allergic reaction
Even if it is very rare, you may be allergic to the content of K-Y Jelly. The reaction can be serious. So, you should immediately contact your doctor if there is an allergic reaction that appears. Call your doctor if you experience any of the following symptoms after taking K-Y Jelly:
- Burning sensation
- Feeling like being stung
- red rash
- Irritability
- Difficulty breathing
- Swelling of the face, lips, or eyes
- Itchy feeling
Tip:
Rinse K-Y Jelly off your skin before calling your doctor if the product triggers a skin reaction. This method may be able to reduce the symptoms you feel.
Step 4. Stop using K-Y Jelly and use another lubricant if you have a bacterial infection
While K-Y Jelly is usually safe, it does contain an ingredient called glycerol that can cause bacterial infections. If you have an infection, contact your doctor immediately for treatment. During treatment, ask your doctor what type of lubricant is safe for you to use.
- Glycerol usually only affects women who are prone to bacterial infections.
- Symptoms of a bacterial infection include vaginal itching and irritation, pain when urinating and having sex, vaginal pain and tenderness, redness in the vulvar area, swelling, red rash, and discharge from the vagina.
Tips
- If the K-Y Jelly you are using dries up during use, you can re-wet it with water.
- K-Y Jelly does not leave stains on fabrics.
- Although K-Y Jelly can relieve vaginal dryness during sex, you should use a vaginal moisturizer as a long-term treatment for this problem.
