You may not include your face and neck on your exercise “target” list. However, learning how to tighten a saggy neck with facial yoga and practicing it daily can help your neck look and feel toned so you'll look younger. Many facial yoga exercises are customizable and can be done in any way.
Step
Method 1 of 2: Practicing Facial Yoga
Step 1. Do the pout stretch
Place your lower lip at the point where you pout. Hold this facial posture for a few seconds. Then, lower your jaw while keeping your face and lower lip in a pouting position. Repeat the exercise 10 times.
- This movement focuses on building the strength of the chin and upper neck area which tends to sag easily.
- You can do this exercise several times a day, anywhere and anytime.
Step 2. Try the “kiss the sky” move
Sit in a chair with your back straight. Tilt your head slowly until you are looking up at the ceiling. Lips should be closed but in a relaxed (slack) position. Pursed lips as if kissing the ceiling. Hold this powerful kissing pose for a few seconds. Repeat 10 times.
Repeat the exercise several times a day. This exercise will feel like a stretch in the neck and lower jaw
Step 3. Do the owl stretch
Stand straight with your arms relaxed by your sides and your shoulders down. Take a deep breath through your nose. Slowly turn your head until you are looking at your left shoulder. Hold for a few seconds. When finished, repeat the style by turning your head to the right.
- The bottom of the chin and along the sides of the neck will feel stretched if the exercise is done properly.
- Repeat this movement on each side 10 to 15 times twice a day.
Step 4. Try the “chewing gum” motion
Turn your head to the right as much as possible. Demonstrate mouth movements while chewing gum 20 times. Repeat on the other side of the head.
- The jaw muscles, both sides and front of the neck, and the chin will feel stretched if the exercise is done properly.
- Perform chewing gum with your mouth while swinging your head down and toward the ceiling as a variation of this exercise.
Step 5. Make the dog look up
Lie on the floor and lift your body using your forearms, with your elbows straight under your shoulders. Push your body up until it forms an upside-down C and tilt your chin outward. Hold for a few seconds then repeat.
Step 6. Try the swallow stretch
Look up at the ceiling and tilt your head back. Stick your tongue to the roof of your mouth and make a swallowing motion. Bend your head to the right and make a swallowing motion, then bend your head to the left and swallow again. Repeat in each direction 4 times each.
- In order for the above movement to tighten the sagging neck, the tongue must be pressed against the roof of the mouth during the exercise.
- This exercise may be difficult to perform. Therefore, remember to relax and keep trying if you don't do it right on the first try.
Method 2 of 2: Trying Other Natural Methods
Step 1. Sleep with your neck straight
This is a simple trick that can help to make neck wrinkles less obvious. When you sleep with your neck flexed to one side or vice versa, your skin tends to stretch and become loose. Instead, try sleeping with your back and neck straight.
Step 2. Try a skin tightening cream
The skin on the neck is thinner than the skin on the rest of the body and tends to dry out and wrinkle more easily. Use a lotion that functions to moisturize the skin every day to keep it firm and elastic. If you want extra nourishment, try a skin-tightening cream that contains retinol and an anti-wrinkle formula. This can help repair your skin and keep it looking young.
- Apply the cream in gentle circular motions from the bottom of the neck towards the chin. Avoid pulling and rubbing the skin down, as stretching it in different directions will only make the problem worse.
- In addition to cream, also use sunscreen on the neck. Sun damage can cause wrinkling and damaged skin.
Step 3. Cover it with makeup
This method is a quick nonsurgical option that can reduce the appearance of a sagging neck. Just choose a foundation that matches your skin tone, mix it with a moisturizing cream, and apply it on your neck. Even out skin tone can reduce the appearance of wrinkles and dark lines that make sagging skin look more pronounced. You can also cover your saggy neck by wearing a turtleneck, a high-collared sweater, or a scarf.
