Using a spray deodorant is a simple and quick way to keep your body fresh and clean. Lately, spray deodorants have become popular because they dry quickly, don't leave underarms feeling sticky and don't stain clothes. Spray deodorants are not antiperspirants and will not stop you from sweating. However, spray deodorants are often made of essential oils that help mask body odor. Proper spraying is the most important part of using it.
Step
Part 1 of 2: Buying the Right Spray Deodorant
Step 1. Consult a doctor if you have a skin condition such as eczema or psoriasis
Deodorants can make certain skin diseases such as psoriasis worse. If you have a skin condition, consult your doctor before changing your deodorant. Tell your doctor that you want to use a spray deodorant. Your doctor will be able to recommend a brand of spray deodorant that is safe to use.
Step 2. Purchase a spray deodorant at the nearest store
All supermarkets, grocery stores, and pharmacies will sell many types of spray deodorants. Take about 10-15 minutes to find the right spray deodorant for you.
Step 3. Choose a gentle spray deodorant if your skin is sensitive
Armpits are easily irritated. Also, if you have a skin condition like eczema or psoriasis, it's important to use a non-irritating deodorant. Aluminum, alcohol, fragrance, and parabens are the main irritants found in some deodorants, including spray deodorants.
- Check the back of the spray deodorant and see what the ingredients are.
- Don't buy spray deodorants that contain these ingredients.
Step 4. Check the fragrance
If your skin is not sensitive, you can buy a spray deodorant that is scented. However, make sure to test the scent first and choose a scent that you like.
- Test the fragrance of a deodorant by smelling the top of the can. Open the lid of the deodorant can before smelling it.
- Strong fragrances can be too strong and some people don't like.
- Softer fragrances are less intense but may need to be re-sprayed if you are active.
Part 2 of 2: Spraying Deodorant on Clean Skin
Step 1. Make sure that your skin is clean before applying deodorant
The best time to apply spray deodorant is after a shower or after cleansing your underarms. Dry the skin before applying deodorant.
Step 2. Take off your clothes
This is the easiest way to keep your clothes from getting sprayed on. If you can't completely undress, pull the sleeves up to the armpits.
Step 3. Open the spray deodorant cap
Most spray deodorant containers will have a lid. Place the lid in a safe area so it doesn't get lost.
Step 4. Hold the container
With one hand, spray the deodorant on the armpits. For example, if you are spraying your left armpit, hold the deodorant in your right hand.
Step 5. Shake the can for about 10 seconds
Shake the spray deodorant before using it. You should do this every time you apply spray deodorant.
Step 6. Hold the can a few inches from the armpit
In this step, your hands should be raised so that your armpits are exposed to the deodorant. The container will have a hole through which the deodorant comes out, be sure to direct the hole towards your armpit. That way, when spraying deodorant on your armpits, the spray won't hit your face or body.
Step 7. Spray underarms with deodorant
Spray underarms for 4-5 seconds. The liquid should cover the entire armpit.
- Be careful not to get the deodorant in your eyes.
- The deodorant dries quickly.
- Repeat this step on the other armpit.
Step 8. Close the deodorant again
After spraying it on both armpits, close the lid and save the deodorant.
