You have lots of free options for editing pictures, whether you've got a blurry, red-eyed holiday photo or want to try editing an image like the one you see on funny image manipulation sites. Read the guide below to choose and download the program that is right for your needs.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Basic Photo Editing
Step 1. Use Microsoft Paint for basic editing
Paint is a very simple program for editing and finishing photos, but it's still quite useful. Right-click the photo, then select the "Open With" > "Paint" option. You can easily rotate, resize, and crop photos using Paint. You can crop and zoom to "clarify" certain parts of the photo, although the quality of the photo will be worse. Paint can save photos in a variety of popular formats, including-p.webp
- Paint is also useful for adding text to images. Make sure you select the transparent text box option so that your text doesn't appear as a white text box that blocks the image underneath.
- The other options in Paint are useful for doodles, but not for editing photos.
- If you don't have Paint, download the better Paint. NET program. Paint. NET started as a Microsoft project to replace Paint, and has many more features than Paint. The link to download Paint. NET is at the bottom of this article.
Step 2. Download Serif Photo Plus
This free version of the elegant Serif photo editor may not have the most advanced features of Photoshop, but it's very easy to use for light editing. The color and red-eye fixes, as well as various basic effects and filters make this program ideal for people who want to edit their family reunion photos to make them look a little better.
You can safely download Serif Photo Plus on the Serif website
Step 3. Use PhotoFiltre to easily add effects and filters
If your photo doesn't require too many finishing touches, but might look more beautiful with a little bit of layer manipulation and filters, you should use PhotoFilter to edit it. The program offers a variety of professional-quality and easy-to-use transparency and contour filters that can change the appearance of almost any type of photo. This program is also easy to use and quite small in size.
- PhotoFiltre can be used for free for personal use, but if you want to use it commercially (such as to create advertisements), you must pay for a license. Licensed PhotoFiltre is a little more powerful than the free version.
- You can safely download PhotoFiltre on the official website.
Method 2 of 3: Advanced Image Editing
Step 1. Download GIMP
Despite its odd name, GIMP (which stands for GNU Image Manipulation Program) is a popular and widely used Photoshop alternative. Although this program is not as pretty as Photoshop, GIMP can create almost any effect that Photoshop can create, and fortunately, GIMP is completely free to use.
- GIMP is not easy to learn. In addition to the basic functions, you should be prepared to spend time learning how the tools in GIMP work. Luckily, it's a really great program -- no other free program offers such powerful manipulation capabilities as GIMP.
- GIMP is the best free option if you want to make significant changes to your image, such as adding or removing objects, changing a person's face significantly, or adding realistic special effects. GIMP is also a good option for detail work, such as editing certain flower petal properties in garden photos.
- GIMP offers a library of custom-written plugins that can add textures, effects, and many other things. Like GIMP, usually these plugins are also free. Apart from that, GIMP also has a PSPI plugin that allows the use of Photoshop plugins. With PSPI, the GIMP plugin library is even bigger than Photoshop.
- You can download GIMP safely on the official website.
Step 2. Try using Paint. NET
Paint. NET is an old program that was originally designed to rival Microsoft Paint. This program is alive and well and continues to be developed by a dedicated hobbyist, and now, it has a lot of photo editing features. Paint. NET is a more user-friendly alternative to GIMP, though not as rich as GIMP.
- Paint. NET is preferred by many people over GIMP, because this program offers most of the tools commonly used by non-professional photo editors. It's also less cluttered and less confusing, because it doesn't have any extra options. Paint. NET can apply filters, handle photo layers, and more, with a fairly intuitive interface.
- Paint. NET is quite capable of handling advanced image editing (much like Photoshop contests on the Internet), but the edits will look more amateurish than GIMP edits.
- You can safely download Paint. NET from its official site.
Step 3. Try Photo Pos Pro
Photo Pos Pro was once paid software and its functionality is somewhere between Paint. NET and GIMP, and the quality is noticeable. Since becoming free software, Photo Pos Pro has become a popular choice for people who want a variety of effects without the need to learn GIMP. The program offers blurring, sharpening, noise adjustment, red-eye correction, and other effects you need (even photo layers!) to give your photos the right look. Photo Pos Pro also turns out to be easy to use.
- The Photo Pos Pro installation program looks fine, but it will try to redirect your browser's front page to the MyStart site, which is notorious for its annoying (though harmless) add-on, MyStart Incredibar. This add-on can be difficult to remove once installed. Make sure you disapprove of changes to your browser's homepage, as well as programs other than Photo Pos Pro.
- You can safely download Photo Pos Pro at the Cnet direct download link. Clicking this link will instantly download Paint Pos Pro, but avoid the useless Cnet installation tools.
Step 4. Hijack Photoshop
If you really need Adobe Photoshop and don't want to buy it, you can install Photoshop for free. You may have to use an older version of Photoshop, but that old version is certainly better than other software.
- The best way to get pirated Photoshop is to use torrents. To download Photoshop with a torrent, you'll need to find the torrent containing the version of Photoshop you want (which can be easily searched using Google), then download the torrent file, and open it with a torrent reader program, such as BitTorrent.
- Downloading the program alone is not enough to open it; You need a license. The easiest way to get a license is to run crack, which will issue a fake license code and trick the program into thinking you're a legitimate user. If possible, download crack with Photoshop as a package; Finding a separate crack is a difficult and dangerous process.
- Although many people agree that Photoshop is too expensive, that's no reason to hijack Photoshop. You might get stuck in trouble after hijacking it.
Method 3 of 3: Online Options
Step 1. Enjoy (some of) Photoshop's best features at Photoshop.com
Photoshop.com's Express Editor is a simplified online version of Photoshop. Photoshop.com has far fewer features than the original version, but it still has far more features than its competitors offer. In addition, the interface of the site is easy to use and practical. Photoshop.com has a wide range of powerful tools, including dodge-and-burn, highlighting, distortion and vignette effects, and many other features.
- The Photoshop.com Express Editor interface is slightly different from the original Photoshop. Photoshop-savvy users may struggle with Photoshop.com, and vice versa.
- Photoshop.com offers 2GB of cloud storage space for photos. As professionals know, this storage space isn't enough to handle serious, high-quality images, but it's perfectly adequate for simple images.
Step 2. Choose the tools you like on Pixlr.com
The image editing site Pixlr offers three separate, interconnected tools for editing images. The program with the most features, Pixlr Editor, lets you resize, crop, rotate, and apply various effects and filters. Pixlr Express, which is easier to use and more efficient than the Pixlr Editor, offers ready-made effects that you can use with one click. The easiest interface, Pixlr-o-Matic, only applies filter and frame effects, just like Instagram.
Switching between areas in Pixlr is a little inconvenient, so start editing where you need it, then use the simpler tools once you're done
Step 3. Quickly make basic edits at Fotor.com
Fotor is an easy-to-use image editing tool that provides filters and other basic finishing touches through predefined steps. Fotor can't be used for advanced editing, but if you just want to edit photos quickly without learning a lot, Fotor is quite useful. Fotor also offers some interesting effects and frames that you can try once your image is finished "cleaning up".
To apply the changes you made, you must click the "Apply" button at each step. Unfortunately, this button sometimes shifts on its own and is hard to find. Be patient, and search the button carefully to find it
Tips
Search online for a guide to the software of your choice. Almost all programs have a user guide. Be patient with yourself as you learn the program you are using, and you will quickly master the program of your choice
Warning
- Downloading new programs is always risky. The links in this guide are tested and clean, but make sure your antivirus is running before downloading any programs.
- Do not approve the installation of programs other than the program you want. Denying the installation of toolbars or other adware will not prevent the actual program from installing, even if the dialog box says otherwise. Read each step carefully before moving on to the next.
