You just saw a great dance move on "YouTube" and want to learn it? Want to see how people react second by second when they play “Scary Maze”? You're in luck, because some of the easy steps below can help you slow down videos on "YouTube," so you don't miss a part.

Method 1 of 2: From "YouTube" Site
Step 1. Select the video on "YouTube" that you want to slow down
As a first step, simply open the "YouTube" video you want to view in slow motion. You can find it in various ways. You can use the search field, the URL of the video, or a video link from an outside site.
Step 2. Look for the settings button in the "YouTube" player
When the video has started running and the ad has run out, look in the far right corner of the video. You'll find a button that looks like a cog wheel. Click this button.
Don't worry if you don't find the button. As you can see below, you can still play "YouTube" videos in slow motion, even if the settings button doesn't appear at first
Step 3. Select one of the slow motion options from the " Speed " menu
Click the settings button and the contents of the menu will appear from the next corner of the video. Select the "Speed" menu ("speed"); so you can decide how slow this video you want to watch. There are two slow motion speed options:

0, 5:
will play the video at only half the speed. The sound from the video can still be heard but will be greatly affected by the slow motion effect.

0, 25:
will play the video at only a quarter of the speed. No sound from playing video.
Step 4. If you don't find the slow motion option, you can use "HTML 5"
But depending on the search engine you're using, you might not find any setting options to set the rewind speed at first. Usually this happens because you are using the default "Flash" "YouTube" version instead of the latest "HTML 5" version. To enable "HTML 5", you can visit this link: youtube.com/html5. Step 5. Use the space bar to activate the “frame by frame” (“scene by scene”) feature
Previously, just by using the J and L buttons, you could watch back and forth the video you wanted, scene by scene. Unfortunately, this feature has been removed. However, since the spacer functions as a play/pause button, you can still get more or less the same function.
- Click once on the video you want to select. The video will pause. If it's stopped, click again to play it.
- Press the SPACEBAR to play the video. Press again to pause the video. For a “frame by frame” effect, quickly press the space bar and the video will alternate from play to pause.
- Set the video speed to 0.25 and use the space bar to activate the “frame by frame” feature for those of you who are still using the basic version of "YouTube".
Method 2 of 2: Using “RowVid”
Step 1. Go to the “RowVid.com” website
Another way to watch YouTube videos in slow motion is to use other websites that provide slow motion features. This is a great option if you can't enable the slow motion feature described above. There are several websites that also provide slow motion features, but Rowvid.com is arguably the best choice of all. This section will use “RowVid” as an example.
Another option that is also quite good is, as the name implies, Youtubeslow.com. One of the advantages of "youtubeslow.com" is You can use it on your phone.
Step 2. Enter the URL of the “YouTube” video that you want to watch in slow motion
On the main “RowVid” screen, you will see a text field located in the middle. Find the URL of the “YouTube” video you want to slow down, copy it, and enter it into the field. Click “Watch Video” after that.
If you're a Windows computer user, a quick way to copy and paste is Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V. Meanwhile, Mac computer users can use Command+C and Command+V
Step 3. Use speed options under video display to slow down
On the next screen, you will see the “YouTube” video you selected in a bigger screen. The video will play automatically, but you can pause it as usual. Below are some options for setting the video speed:
- If you click "0.25" or "0.5", the video speed will change to a quarter or half of normal. Option "1" changes the video speed back to normal.
- Note that you may be redirected to youtube.com/html5 so that you change your search engine settings when changing video speed.
Step 4. Use the button “<" and " >” to move from one scene to another.
One of the options that “RowVid” provides, but which is missing in the basic version of the “YouTube” player is the ability to watch each video scene individually. Use the button " > ” in the lower left corner to move to the next scene and use “ < ” to move to the previous scene. Video viewing will automatically stop when you click one of the buttons above.
