Have you ever wondered how to create your own email account? Thousands of emails are sent every day, all over the world, and many web services are usually unusable without an email address. With this written guide, you'll be able to complete the simple process of creating your own email account in no time.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Creating an Email Account
Step 1. Visit the page of the website that offers the email service
Notable ones are yahoo.com, google.com, and hotmail.com, all of which are free forever.
Step 2. Find the page to register
Usually there is an image or text in the form of a small link that says "register" or "sign up", although you may have to go to the login page to find it.
Write "free email account" and website of your choice into a search engine. Click on the appropriate link, which will take you to the registration page for the desired email account
Step 3. Follow all the instructions on the page, fill in all the required details
In some cases, you may feel uncomfortable providing certain information. Don't worry, email accounts usually don't need information like phone and address, and you can skip that.
Step 4. Read the service agreement and click the box that states that you agree to abide by the rules on the email system
When you're done, click the "Submit" or "Enter" button at the bottom of the screen.
Step 5. Congratulations
You have created an email address. Continue importing your contacts, sending messages with friends, or composing emails, and much more.
Method 2 of 3: Collecting Contacts
Step 1. Tell your friends and family about your new email, gather information about them and add them to your contact list
Note that current email accounts save your contacts automatically when you send an email to or receive an email from a person or institution.
- To view contacts, look for the contacts tab. Or, simply type the first or last name of the person you want to email, or the prefix of their email address. Their email address and contact information should appear automatically.
This means you don't have to "save" someone as a contact in order to email them
Step 2. Import your contact list if you changed email account
Browse through the "Contacts" tab, look for the import button; then follow the prompts that appear. Usually this is as easy as dragging and dropping files into your browser program window.
Method 3 of 3: Sending Email
Step 1. Look for the "Compose" button when logging into your email account
This button shouldn't be hard to find; often the buttons are different colors.
Step 2. Write down the email address of the person you want to email
If you don't remember someone's email address but have emailed them before, your account may recognize the saved email address if you write down their name.
- If you want to give someone a copy of the email, click "CC", which stands for "carbon copy".
- If you want to give someone a copy of the email without the real recipient knowing, click "BCC", which stands for "blind carbon copy".
Step 3. Write a subject (subject)
This is what the email is all about.
Step 4. Write the message or body of your email
This is your communication or what you want to convey to the person.
Step 5. After checking and making sure there are no errors, click "Send"
Make sure your contact's email address is correct, and that your message contains no spelling or formatting errors. Send us your email.
Tips
- You'll get tons of emails filling your inbox in no time.
- Make sure that you have the correct email addresses of your friends and family so you can email them.
- Email them about your new address so they can make contact with you.
- If you want to be notified, a good program for this is Google Alerts. You can sign up for free notifications, and news on any topic you want.
Warning
- Create your e-mail easy to remember.
- Don't be discouraged by emails that haven't received a reply. People have lives of their own and may not always answer non-essential emails.
- Don't send email to people you don't know.
- Don't constantly check email for new messages. This will only make you more desperate.
- Don't delay your email because when you check again, your email box may be too full!
- Don't waste your email checking every 2 to 4 months because many email service providers will close your account after a certain time if your account is inactive. But at least, what you can do to make sure your account remains active is to do a monthly check.
- Don't despair if your email box is still empty. It takes time to get the email.
