There are certain days you may be in a hurry and don't have time to style your hair for too long. While on other days, you may want to enhance your appearance with a slightly different hairstyle. Luckily, there are lots of cute hairstyles to choose from that are easy to learn, and only take a few minutes!
Step
Method 1 of 5: Tying a Ponytail
Step 1. Determine where to tie the ponytail
A ponytail is suitable for a variety of occasions, and its location can have a huge impact on how you look.
- Tie a ponytail at the top of your head so it can be seen from the front. This style is very attractive and stylish.
- Tie your hair a few cm lower, so that your appearance is more dynamic.
- Tie a low ponytail at the nape of the neck can make you look simple.
- A less common style of ponytail is the side tie, not the back of the head. A sideways ponytail will make your appearance unique and attractive.
Step 2. Squeeze the hair near the top of your head
Pick up a small section of hair at the top of your head--the part that starts to curl downwards. Gently comb the hair in this section forward in two or three motions.
- To tease your hair, take a section of your hair and pull it vertically from your scalp. Comb from the center of the hair down to the front, towards the roots of the hair. Repeat this step a few times until the collected strands of hair can become a bulging cushion on the top of your head.
- If you're in a sideways ponytail, tuck a small section of hair just above where the ponytail is.
- If your hair is curly, skip this step.
Step 3. Gather your hair at the back of the head
Use both hands to pull most of your hair back, then hold it in one hand. To keep hair away from your face in a neat and practical ponytail, include your hair with bangs. To create a more relaxed look, don't tie your bangs in a ponytail.
To make a sideways ponytail, gather your hair to the side of your head
Step 4. Tie your hair
Take a hair tie and attach it to your hair from behind. Once the ponytail hits the base of your ponytail, twist it into a figure 8. Pull and thread your hair through the holes in the hair tie. Next, repeat until the knot is tight and your ponytail doesn't shift from your desired position.
To make it more stylish, you can use a colorful hair tie. For a simpler look, use a regular hair band
Step 5. Try making a double ponytail
One trick to keep your ponytail styled longer is to create two vertical ties. Don't tie all your hair together, but divide it all in half at the top and bottom. Tie the two sections of hair one by one. Comb the ends of the hair of the two strands together, so that they gather and form a very long ponytail.
Method 2 of 5: Making a Simple Bun
Step 1. Prepare the hair donut
The most important thing for making a simple bun is the donut-shaped tool that will be the base. The hair donut will keep your bun in a neat shape. You can buy hair donuts, or make your own from socks that you cut off the soles of. Remove the soles of the feet. The remaining part of the sock will become your hair donut. You don't have to shape it; This sock will form a donut by itself.
Step 2. Tie your hair in a ponytail
Use the method described in the previous section. Tie your hair where you want to make the bun. The most common position for a simple bun is on the crown of your head, by first making a high ponytail. Thin hair bands are better suited for this style than bulky hair bands that can hold up your bun.
Step 3. Pull your ponytail into the center of the hair donut
If you're using a hair donut, tie it like a regular hair tie. However, if you're wearing socks, place them at the base of your ponytail, then take one end and wrap it around the other to form a donut around your hair.
Step 4. Curl hair around the donut
Attach the donut to the end of the ponytail. Smooth your hair over the donut. Then, slowly roll your hair toward the base of the ponytail, wrapping your hair around it.
Step 5. Roll the hair donut around the base of the ponytail
Tuck the strands of hair into the donut. If there's still a section of the donut that isn't covered by hair, brush a section of your hair to cover it. Depending on how tightly you curl your hair and how thick your hair is, you may not need to attach the bobby pins to hold it in place anymore. However, if your hair is very thin and your curls are loose, attach a bobby pin to hold it in place.
Method 3 of 5: Making a Simple Twist Bun
Step 1. Use a comb to part your hair in the middle, and gather all of your hair at the back
A twist bun is a simple hairstyle that is a combination of a ponytail and a regular bun. Be sure to prepare 2 large bobby pins and 4 small bobby pins if you want to style your hair like this.
Step 2. Twist your hair
Grab the hair you've joined in one hand, and twist it counterclockwise by twisting your wrist. Be careful not to break your hair or hurt your scalp. Continue twisting your hair from the nape of the neck to the ends, forming a tight spiral.
Step 3. Curl your hair into a bun
Hold your hair in one hand, so it doesn't unravel. With the same hand, curl your hair clockwise around the base. Place the index finger of your other hand in the center of the bun to maintain its shape. Once your hair is done in a bun, tuck the ends of your hair under the bun that's formed.
You can also make a bun that is rolled counterclockwise. If you prefer this option, start by twisting your hair counterclockwise in step 2
Step 4. Keep your bun in position
Pin large bobby pins to either side of the bun to hold it in place. Shape your bun by pulling out the sides with your fingers. Once the bun is the way you want it, pin 4 small bobby pins so they don't move.
You may want to add some finishing touches to make the bun appear fuller. Tuck the handle of the comb over the top of your head. Gently pull your bun out and up. You can also use the same method on the outside of the bun
Method 4 of 5: Braiding Hair
Step 1. Make a ponytail
Use the method described in the previous section. Tie the ponytail where you will base the braid.
Step 2. Separate your ponytail into three equal parts
Mark A, B, and C on each of the three sections of hair.
Step 3. Make the first braid by taking section A and then crossing it over section B
The order of the positions of the three hair sections is now B, A, C.
Step 4. Next, take section C and cross it over section A
Now, order the positions of the three sections of hair into B, C, A. This forms the first braid of your hair.
Step 5. Repeat steps 2-4 until the ends of the hair
Tie the ends of your hair with a hair band and enjoy your new look!
Method 5 of 5: Tucking Hair in a Bandana
Step 1. Attach an elastic bandana to the top of your head
Place the front of the bandana above your forehead or 2.5-5 cm behind your hairline. Place the back of the bandana in a hidden part. The place that is usually chosen is the nape of the neck.
Step 2. Make sure that your bandana is the right size
The bandana should be tight enough to keep it from shifting throughout the day, but loose enough that hair can be tucked in. Your bandana should not shift at all on your head. You should be able to slip two or three of your fingers under the bandana. Don't wear a bandana that feels like it's pressing your head.
Step 3. Tuck the hair into the bandana
Start at the front little by little. Take a section of hair in your hands and roll it inward, under the bandana.
If your hairstyle looks too flat, make it fuller. Take a comb and tuck it under the hair at the top of your head, and/or tuck it into a bandana. Gently pull the comb to lift your hair slightly upwards. Rearrange the strands of hair that have fallen off the bandana
Tips
- Bandana is a hair ornament that can beautify the appearance of an ordinary hairstyle.
- In general, make sure that your hair is completely dry and untangled before bundling it up or tying it. However, tucking your hair into a bandana is one of the hairstyles you can do on wet hair when you're in a hurry.
- If you have straight hair and want to make it look fuller in a ponytail or bun, use curling irons, which can temporarily make your hair wavy.
- Use dry shampoo if you don't have time to wash your hair. This shampoo can also make your hair look straighter and easier to manage longer.
- Cooking too often can damage your hair. If you choose this method, be sure to treat your hair with sufficient conditioner when shampooing.
- To avoid damage to your hair from the heat from a blow dryer or curling iron, spray a protective product on your hair if you use them.
