You don't need expensive treatments to get smooth and shiny hair. Milk and eggs available in the kitchen are rich in protein that can nourish and strengthen hair. You can use both ingredients as a mask or hair care product, or separately with other ingredients to moisturize your hair and increase its shine. More importantly, these ingredients don't cost a fortune so you can get beautiful hair without having to spend a lot of money.

Step
Method 1 of 4: Making a Hair Mask from Eggs and Milk
Step 1. Separate the eggs by hair type
Which part of the egg is more effective depends on your hair type. Crack the egg, and leave the part that is more suitable for your hair in the bowl.
- If you have oily hair, use egg whites for a mask.
- If you have dry or damaged hair, use egg yolks.
- For normal hair, you can use the whole egg.
- If you have long, thick hair, you may need to use 2 eggs when making the mask.
Step 2. Beat the eggs
The mask mix is easier to make if you at least have crushed or mashed the eggs. Once the portion of the egg to be used is placed in the bowl, use a whisk to beat the eggs.
If you don't have an egg beater, you can use a fork
Step 3. Add milk and olive oil
Once the eggs are beaten, add 240 ml of milk and 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of olive oil. Beat the mixture until all the ingredients are evenly mixed.
You can use coconut oil as olive oil if you want
Step 4. Add the lemon juice
Once the eggs, milk, and olive oil are evenly mixed, squeeze a lemon over a bowl to remove the juice. Stir all the ingredients so that the lemon juice is evenly mixed.
Be careful not to squeeze too much lemon. One time is enough. The citric acid in lemon juice can dry out your hair, so don't let the mask contain too much juice. If you have dry hair, it's a good idea not to add lemon juice at all
Step 5. Massage the mask on the hair
After the mask mixture is finished, apply it on the scalp. Smooth over the hair, starting from the roots to the tips. Make sure all sections of hair are evenly coated by the mask.
Step 6. Cover your head with a shower cap and leave the mask on
Due to its dilute concentration, the mask may drip once applied to the hair. Put on a disposable hair hood to prevent the mask from dripping off, then let it sit on your hair for about 15 minutes.
If you don't have a shower cap, you can cover your hair with plastic wrap to hold the mask in place
Step 7. Rinse hair with cold water
When you're ready to wash your hair, use cool or cold water to prevent the eggs from overcooking and making them more difficult to remove. Continue cleaning with your usual shampoo to remove any residual egg odor.
- Make sure you use conditioner after shampooing to keep your hair soft and shiny.
- You can use this mask once or twice a month to soften and condition your hair to make it look shinier and smoother.
Method 2 of 4: Make a Hair Mask from Almond Milk, Egg and Coconut Oil
Step 1. Mix all ingredients
Place 4-5 tablespoons (60-75 ml) of almond milk, 2 egg whites, and 1-2 tablespoons (15-25 ml) of coconut oil in a bowl. Stir all ingredients until smooth.
- You can replace coconut oil with olive oil if you want.
- To determine how much almond milk and coconut oil you need, consider the length and thickness of your hair. Long, coarse hair requires a larger dose of both ingredients.
Step 2. Apply the mask on the hair and leave it on
When you're done, massage the mask into your hair. Start from the roots to the ends of the hair. Leave the mask on for about 20 minutes.
- Because the texture of the mask is runny, it's a good idea to wear a shower cap or cover your head with plastic wrap to prevent the mask from dripping.
- You can sleep with the mask still attached to your hair as a deep conditioning treatment. However, make sure you wear a shower cap or cover your head with plastic wrap to prevent the mask from staining the sheets or pillowcases.
Step 3. Rinse hair with cold water and shampoo
When ready to clean your hair, rinse your hair with cold water so that the egg whites don't boil. Continue the treatment by washing with a mild shampoo to remove the remaining mask.
- It is important that you use conditioner after shampooing your hair.
- Use this mask once or twice a week to keep hair smooth and shiny.
Method 3 of 4: Making a Hair Mask from Milk and Honey
Step 1. Mix milk and honey
In a microwave-safe bowl, mix 120 ml of milk with 1 tablespoon (20 ml) of honey. Since honey has a thick texture, it will be difficult to mix the two ingredients thoroughly. However, keep stirring the two ingredients until combined.
You can use any type of honey, but organic honey is a better choice
Step 2. Heat the mixture in the microwave and stir again
After mixing the milk and honey as much as possible, put the bowl in the microwave. Heat the mixture over high heat for about 10 seconds to warm the honey to make it easier to stir. After that, remove the bowl and stir the mixture again to mix the ingredients thoroughly.
Step 3. Apply the mask on the hair and leave it on
Once mixed, the mask can be transferred to a spray bottle and sprayed on the hair. You can also stand in front of the sink and pour the mixture directly into your hair. Once your hair is damp, smooth the mask with your fingers to cover the entire section of hair. Leave the mask on your hair for about 20 minutes.
The mask may drip after applying to the hair. It's a good idea to wear a shower cap or wrap your head with plastic wrap
Step 4. Rinse hair with warm water and shampoo
To remove the mask, rinse your hair with warm water. Continue cleaning with your usual shampoo and conditioner, then dry your hair naturally by aerating it.
Use this mask at least once a week to get smooth and shiny hair
Method 4 of 4: Making a Hair Mask from Egg Yolk and Olive Oil
Step 1. Mix eggs and olive oil
Place 2 egg yolks and 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of olive oil in a small bowl. Use a fork or an egg beater to stir all the ingredients until they are evenly combined.
You can replace olive oil with coconut oil if you want
Step 2. Apply the mask on the hair
Start applying the mask from the roots and massage it all over your hair using your fingers. Apply the mask all the way to the ends of the hair so that all parts of the hair are covered.
Step 3. Cover your hair with a shower cap and leave the mask on
Due to its runny texture, the mask drips off easily. Put on a shower cap and leave the mask on for about 30 minutes to 2 hours to fully absorb it into your hair.
If you don't have a shower cap, cover your head with plastic wrap to hold the mask in place
Step 4. Wash your hair with shampoo as usual
When you're done, rinse and wash your hair with your usual shampoo. You may need to wash your hair twice to remove any residual egg odor.
- After washing your hair, use conditioner to keep your hair moisturized.
- You can use this mask once or twice a month.
Tips
- As much as possible, do not wash your hair too often. Wash your hair with shampoo no more than once every two days to keep your hair moisturized. Always continue the treatment with conditioner to keep hair shiny and soft.
- To keep hair smooth and shiny, do not style your hair with heat sources. Extremely high temperatures can dry out hair, making it look dull and unmanageable.
