Finding the perfect pair of jeans is a difficult task. As your body changes, so does a change in style that is good for your body. You can buy jeans that match and fit your budget with the following shopping recommendations.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Finding the Right Jeans for Women
Step 1. Spend at least 1 hour trying on the jeans
Start looking at a shopping center or at a large department store so you can compare different styles.
Step 2. Measure your waist and inseam (length from groin to ankle) before leaving
Pay attention to the choice of "waist" size jeans, namely pants with a low waist (hips), medium (above the hips) or high (near the navel). Waist size is more important than inseam size, because jeans can be shortened.
- If you are very tall, look for jeans that have an inseam of 91 cm. Brands such as Habitual and Rock n'Republic are special brands for long jeans.
- People who are small can try jeans from Kasil, Banana Republic and Caslon brands.
Step 3. Know the style of your jeans
The following are models of jeans that are commonly used:
- Cutbrai jeans. This type of jeans quickly became a trend and quickly turned out to be out of date. These pants have a cut that extends between the knee and ankle. Cutbrai pants can highlight the curves of the body.
- Bootcut jeans. This is the type of jeans that is most suitable to be combined for various types of women's bodies. These pants have very little width at the bottom, but are just right enough to fit high heels or boots.
- The wide-leg type of jeans (wide-legged and straight cut) is similar to the cutbrai type. These pants are a trouser style that will look great when paired with high heels and boots. These pants are easy to put on and suitable for both curvy and straight body types.
- Straight type jeans follow the length of the leg and do not widen. These pants can make your legs look slimmer, but make sure they are not tight in the calf area.
- Skinny type jeans. These jeans are perfect for wearing under high boots. These pants should be cut snugly from the buttocks to the ankles, but still comfortable to wear. These pants can be the most difficult style to fit into your body, especially for women who have a curvy/bulky body shape.
- Relaxed fit or boyfriend-fit jeans. Just like the name suggests, these jeans have a loose cut along the legs. These pants will be stylish if rolled up to the ankles, and the model should not be loose in the buttocks area. These jeans generally look better when worn by tall people than by small people.
Step 4. Choose medium-waisted pants instead of pants that have a low cut at the waist, unless you believe you have a short torso
Low-waisted jeans have hips and waists that are about 20 to 25 cm smaller than medium-waisted pants. If you're fatter in the hips, buttocks or belly area, low-waisted pants tend to form an unattractive "bulb of fat" in your belly, or fat that sticks out above the waist of your pants.
Step 5. Choose a dark pair of jeans that have little detail
Avoid contrasting stitches, pocket trim or pleated stripes patterns. All of these can make them less snug, and the details are more indicative of "fashion" jeans, not everyday-style jeans.
- The pleated stripes pattern is the result of a deliberate emphasis on the jeans around the hips and buttocks. This pattern usually looks like horizontal stripes around the hip joint.
- Dark jeans look slimmer than lighter blue jeans or sanded wash (jeans that are thinner due to the rubbing process of paper that contains a kind of sand).
Step 6. Try a pair of jeans one size smaller, if you prefer a tighter style of pants
The jeans will stretch about 0.6 cm across the entire length of the pants. However, if you can't fit a finger between the hipbones and the waist, the pants are too tight.
Always bring 2 to 3 sizes of jeans into the room. All brands are different, so your pants may be bigger or smaller than you think
Step 7. Highlight the curves of the body with details
If you want your bottom to look bigger, choose jeans with button pockets. If you want your hips to look more curvy, you can try faded pattern jeans (manufactured) that accentuate the hip seams.
Method 2 of 3: Finding the Right Jeans for Men
Step 1. Ask the salesperson to take your measurements
If you haven't measured your jeans in a long time, you'll need to take an accurate waist and inseam measurement. If the store doesn't provide that service, find an old pair of pants that are the right size and then buy a cloth tape measure and measure both areas yourself.
- Waist size is a measure of the circumference of the waist. In your body, waist circumference is generally located at the widest point above the hip bone.
- The inseam is the measurement along the inside of the leg from the top of the groin to the end of the ankle seam on the pants.
Step 2. Choose jeans that have an inseam and waist size
Avoid jeans that are manufactured according to common sizes so you can get a pair of jeans that actually fit what you need. Some men's jeans only have a waist measurement. In this case, the pants usually have an inseam size of about 76 or 81 cm.
Step 3. Consider the fit/fit of the jeans based on the back look
If they fit snugly in your butt area without sag, you've got a decent-sized pair of jeans.
Step 4. Then pay attention to the groin area
Sit down and see if the jeans get caught in the groin area. If so, look for pants that have a larger inseam size.
Step 5. Try wearing jeans with shoes that you wear frequently
However, keep in mind that you can always adjust the length of your jeans, as long as they have the right waist, inseam and bottoms.
Step 6. Choose a pair of darker indigo jeans
The original blue color is usually a sign that the fabric of the jeans is stronger and the color lasts longer. These pants are also suitable for almost all body types.
Step 7. Don't choose a pair of flimsy jeans
This style can make a good pair of jeans look unusual, making the jeans look less fitting when worn, even if they are the right size. Focus on making your own tattered impression on jeans with repeated use.
Step 8. Ask the shop if they have a tailor
If not, look for a tailor in your local phone book. Make sure you take your measurements in your usual shoes.
Method 3 of 3: Choosing Where to Shop
Step 1. Start looking at the convenience store
You're more likely to find branded/designed jeans, but the salesperson may know which style will look best on you. You can save as much as 30 minutes or more by browsing the options on the shelves.
Some department stores provide tailoring services (for customization/modification) with the purchase of branded/designed jeans
Step 2. Try on jeans from different price ranges
Jeans that cost IDR 400,000, 00, IDR 900,000, 00, and IDR 2,000,000, 00 will feel different because the more expensive pants generally have a tighter weave. This tight weave means the pants will last longer and retain their shape better after washing.
If you're looking for jeans to wear in a business casual setting, you might want to consider branded/designed jeans
Step 3. Visit specialty stores, if your pants size is large (size 14/78-82 cm or more for women)
Brands like Svoboda, Levi, Lane Bryant, Chicos or Newport News have plenty of jeans in styles that range from size 14 (78-82 cm) to size 30 (130-138 cm).
Step 4. Buy some jeans if you find a pair of jeans that really fit
The fashion style of jeans is often discontinued. Stylists suggest that women buy 2 pairs of jeans and customize one of them to match flats and the other for high heels.
