This is a fun as well as interesting trick and is a great start for a novice magician or someone who enjoys pranking his friends. This trick is easy, fun to perform, and requires no special tools or abilities. But remember that if you don't tell it, you can drive your friends a little crazy!
Step
Method 1 of 2: Removing the Ballpoint Pen Behind Your Ear
Step 1. Take a ballpoint pen from your pocket and hold it with your right hand
Say to your audience, "Watch it! I'll make this ballpoint pen magically disappear in front of you."
If you want to make a spectacle with this (which will be very entertaining), convince your audience that this is a regular ballpoint pen. Wave a little, flick with your finger, and swing. Give your audience time to prepare to see your magic
Step 2. Raise your left palm in front of Adna
In this trick, to be more convincing, it's a good idea to count out loud and gesture with your other hand. This verbally and visually will distract from what you are actually doing.
Tap the ballpoint pen in your left hand as if this will remove your pen. The more you do it regularly, the more awesome this trick will be
Step 3. Hold the ballpoint pen close to the tip and lift it next to your head
You should be facing perpendicular to your audience's line of sight. This way anyone watching won't be able to see the ballpoint pen when you put it near your ear or to the side of your head.
This is entirely to build tension. Once you've placed it on the side of your head, bring it back to its original position, as if teasing your audience
Step 4. Tap the ballpoint pen in your left hand and move it towards your head one more time
You can count, say one, two, then eliminate it on the count of three. It's going to take a lot of effort to make a ballpoint pen disappear-you've got to be quick!
In this trick section you can do it however you like. You can pretend to warm the pen first, shake it, or rub it against your hands to make the trick work. Your friends won't know
Step 5. On the count of three, place the pen behind your ear
Now is the real action. When you raise your hand for the third time, carefully and not too late, place it behind your ear. You should do it smoothly while focusing on the hand in front of you.
This calculation is important to help you perform the correct cue every time you raise the hand holding the ballpoint pen. Try to lift it quickly to prevent you from getting caught
Step 6. Clap your right hand against your left hand smoothly and limply
Bam! The ballpoint pen is gone! Proudly show both sides of your hand that the ballpoint pen is nowhere to be found. Be careful not to turn your head, showing your ballpoint pen.
Step 7. Decide if you want to make the pen reappear
Whatever you do, don't look like you're forcing yourself not to turn your head and face your audience. If you don't want to do any extra tricks or are running out of time, just say you're going to tie your shoelaces and bow; when they're not looking, quickly pull the pen from behind your head.
If you want to display it, put your hand on your head as if you were in great physical pain to get it out. Holding your head agonizingly, slip the pen into your hand and remove it from wherever you see fit
Method 2 of 2: Getting the Ballpoint Pen Down Your Sleeve
Step 1. Wear a long-sleeved shirt with wide sleeves
For this method, you will use the “sleeve” technique – when the ballpoint pen magically disappears… into your sleeve. To do this, you'll be wearing a dark t-shirt with sleeves that are open and not tight around the wrist but also not hanging down like a magician. Look for something in between.
You are better off choosing a color that matches your pen. If you're using a white ballpoint pen, then it's okay to wear a white T-shirt. The darker the color of your ballpoint pen, the darker the color of your shirt of choice
Step 2. Hold the ballpoint pen with both your hands
Take a pen slowly and hold one end with your index and thumb and the other end with the index and thumb of the other hand. At this point, your finger will be facing the viewer. With whichever hand is dominant, apply pressure to the ballpoint pen with your fingers, as if to push it back into the palm of your hand.
The ballpoint pen should be held in front of you as if showing it. 30 cm in front of you is good enough - you want your elbows to relax as if it were easy to do so
Step 3. With your middle finger, flick the ball towards your wrist
Practice this part more often before doing it in front of your friends. You'll want your middle finger to flick the pen back against the palm of your hand when you're going to hold it for a few seconds. Do this part as quickly as possible so it looks like it's gone.
- Rotate your thumb when the ballpoint pen has been flicked. This will allow the ballpoint pen to be covered with your fingers. Your fingers will now be facing inward as when you gave the “good” gesture.
- As you flick it, make a swinging motion up and down. It's not really necessary to do this, but it looks good to your audience and makes it look like you're doing something to make the ballpoint pen disappear and your body to be slightly affected by it, thus creating a swinging motion.
Step 4. Tuck the ballpoint pen into your sleeve
With the ballpoint pen pressed against your wrist, slide it quickly (very, very quickly) into your sleeve. Once inside, open your hand, showing the shocked audience that the ballpoint pen is nowhere to be found.
Rotate your hand, palm facing up, to show that there is no ballpoint pen in your hand. Then flip it over and wave it slightly, to prove that the ballpoint pen isn't covered by a certain angle that your audience doesn't see
Step 5. Pull on your sleeves for added effect
After you've waved your hand a little, tug on your sleeves for more reassurance. To make sure the ballpoint pen stays in your sleeve, pinch it slightly as you push it. The pen will be under the arm by gravity and will not be noticed by your spectators.
If you like, as you get really good at this trick, pull up your sleeves a little before even doing the trick. But don't move it too much-just enough to give the illusion that you're moving it a little. If you slide it too much, you can shake your hand a little to lengthen it a bit before removing your pen
Step 6. Practice doing this in front of a mirror until you get good at it
You'll either make a few mistakes and the pen won't go up your sleeve and slide behind you, or you'll flick the pen at an awkward angle so it hangs right under your hand. To make sure you do it right, practice in front of a mirror until you can do it a few times very convincingly.
Add some splendor to your show, too. Start by pointing at the ballpoint pen, arranging your hands as if you had to do it perfectly, concentrating hard, or even throwing the pen away. The better your show, the more distracting your audience will be
Tips
- Make sure your audience is looking down at your hand, not up at your hand. To make the audience pay attention to your palm, move it slightly. This will make the audience a little confused. Another way is to put a coin in the palm of your hand and say "I'm going to get rid of this coin…"
- It might help if you have long hair.
- A good distraction is to take the pen cap off and put it in your hand, making it look as if you're trying to make the cap disappear, then when the entire pen is gone, pretend like you've made a mistake, while the audience will remain in awe.
- Make your movements fluid and natural like something you're used to doing.
