This simple accessory can be tucked away in your coat pocket or trouser pocket. Its simple design and ease of use make it a great place to store banknotes. Check out tips on using a money clip below.
Step
Part 1 of 3: Setting the Money Clip
Step 1. Learn the basics of using a money clip
Once you know how to use a money clip, this accessory will make it easier for you to save money. If you've never used a money clip before, read the instructions below. Basically, here's how to use a money clip:
- Collect your banknotes and credit cards.
- Fold the money in half.
- Insert the money into the clamp (fold in first). Your money will be securely squeezed.
- Clamp the credit card. Some money clips have pockets or rubber bands for storing cards.
- Put a money clip in your pocket. Some clothing pockets have a material that can be clipped with a money clip for easy access.
- If you want to take the money out of the clip, you can either take the sheet of paper directly from your pocket or remove the clip first from your pocket.
Step 2. Arrange the banknotes
At the bottom of this page, we explain how to use a money clipper efficiently. In arranging banknotes, there are two kinds of ways that can be used:
- To convenience, arrange the money with the large nominal on the bottom and the small nominal on the top. In this way, when the money is folded it will be easy to withdraw small nominal money from the middle of the fold to make daily payments.
- To security, arrange the money with a small nominal below. This way, only small amounts of money will appear in the folds of the money so they don't attract the attention of pickpockets.
Step 3. Insert the money and cards into the clamp
Insert the folded banknote (fold in first) into the clip. The pressure from the tongs will hold your money in place so it doesn't slide. If you're using a regular money clip, slip your card (identifier as well as debit and credit cards) into the fold. Next, trim the clamps so that the money and cards don't move.
- If you are using a money clip that has a pocket for cards, put your card (ID and debit and credit cards) in the pocket. Next, clamp the money with money clips and trim it so that the money does not shift.
- If you use a magnetic money clip, keep your card elsewhere. Magnetism can remove the magnetism in your card over time and eventually your card will be damaged.
Step 4. Keep the money clip in your pocket
Now your money clip is ready to use. Below are several options for storing your money clip:
- Pants front pocket provide easy access. However, your pocket will become full if you also keep your cell phone, keys and other items in this pocket.
- Back pocket can be a convenient choice. However, you will be easier to pickpocket. In addition, some people also complain of back pain from putting objects (such as thick wallets) in their back trouser pockets.
- chest pocket in a jacket or coat can provide a sense of security, but don't forget not to leave your jacket.
Step 5. Take money as needed
With a little practice, you'll be able to easily take a bill out of a money clip. Even if you remember the arrangement, you can take a note without removing the moneyclip from your pocket. However, taking the money by removing the money clip from your pocket and removing the clip is also fine.
Part 2 of 3: Choosing the Right Money Clip
Step 1. Try a single-clip money clip
Most money clips have this model. This model clamps your money with metal or plastic tongs. These models are usually shaped like a clothespin, a nice large paperclip, or a folded piece of metal.
This model money clip is very simple but also very elegant. The clamp of this model can't hold as many objects as other models, but the classic design is quite attractive. Very good models will wear expensive leather or metal
Step 2. Try a money clip with a card pocket
This pocket can hold your credit, debit or ID cards. Pocket size varies.
This model money clip provides more space than other models if you want to store multiple cards. However, this model is quite thick
Step 3. Try a money clip with a rubber band
This model has an elastic band or fabric wrapped around extra money and cards. These additions are often found with pockets for cards.
This model money clip is great for storing objects with irregular shapes. However, this model makes the clamp thick
Step 4. Try a double-sided money clip
Some money clips have an additional clip on the back for storing money. These tongs function the same as regular money clips.
This model money clip provides more space and does not add significant thickness. However, because you keep the money on both sides of the clip, it can be quite difficult to clip it into your pocket so it's better to place the money clip in your pocket without being clamped
Step 5. Try a magnetic money clip
These models usually have two small magnets attached to a leather or cloth strap. The two magnets stick together so that the money can be squeezed tightly.
The downside of this model is that this money clip is not great for credit cards. The magnets from the tweezers can slowly damage the magnetic chips in the card
Part 3 of 3: Moving from a Wallet to a Money Clamp
Step 1. Select the most important items from your wallet
A money clip can only hold a few items, so you'll need to get rid of things you don't need. Generally, you need to bring paper Money and some important cards in the money clip, and there will be no room left for anything else.
Be selective in choosing the items to be moved. Throw away anything that isn't used. Remember, you are using a money clip because of its compact size. Including a lot of unimportant items will eliminate your purpose in using a money clip
Step 2. Select the card you want to put on the money clip
Even a money clip with a pocket for cards has less space than a wallet. Some important things you think you need to bring:
- ID/SIM card. ID cards are needed in a variety of situations, from vehicle raids to the purchase of alcoholic beverages.
- One debit card. You may have more than one debit card, but for efficiency, bring the one card that you use the most.
- One credit card. Just like debit cards, you may have more than one credit card. Bring one credit card that you use most often. You can replace the credit card that you carry with another credit card every day, week, or month.
Step 3. Find another place for items in your wallet that can't be carried in the money clip
Items that are rarely used but important (such as membership cards and items such as photos and keepsakes) are best kept elsewhere. Find another unmissable place to store these items.
- For example, your car club membership card could be placed in the glove compartment of the car. Your gym membership card can be placed in the side pocket of your gym bag. Office ID cards can be placed in your briefcase.
- Don't forget where you put these things! You can carry small folded notes on tongs to remind you until you get used to remembering them.
Step 4. Transfer the various denominations of the banknotes to the clips
You can bring any amount of money, but it's better if you bring money with various nominal. By bringing money with various nominal values, you can pay for your purchases without having to accept a lot of change. For example, the combination of banknotes below makes it easy for you to make payments of up to IDR 200,000:
-
-
- Five IDR 2,000 bills
- Two IDR 5,000. bills
- A sheet of IDR 10,000
- A sheet of Rp. 20,000
- A sheet of IDR 50,000
- A sheet of Rp. 100,000
-
- You are free to add IDR 10,000, IDR 20,000, IDR 50,000 and IDR 100,000 as needed. You don't need to add IDR 5,000, IDR 2,000, or even IDR 1,000 because you will get it as change.
