Hypnosis may seem like magic, but it turns out that there is a lot of practice and science behind the act of hypnotizing someone. One of the most effective ways to hypnotize someone is to use the eyes, which are the windows to the heart. However, do this exercise only with someone who is willing to be hypnotized and always takes your responsibility.
Step
Part 1 of 3: Doing Eye Focus Exercises
Step 1. Try to maintain eye contact for a long time without blinking
Look at yourself in the mirror and count how long you can maintain eye contact without blinking.
- You can also do face-to-face competitions with other people to test your skills.
- Mastering eye movements will help you maintain steady eye contact with the other person during the hypnosis process.
Step 2. Practice your ability to focus with your eyes
Do this by looking at an object up close, such as a pen or pencil, then an object far away in the room.
- Hold the pencil close to your eye. Focus on the pencil.
- Move from focusing on the pencil to a more distant object, such as a painting on a wall or a doorknob.
- Get back to focusing on the pencil. Then, on a distant object. Continue this exercise to increase your flexibility of focus.
Step 3. Increase awareness of your peripherals
This is your ability to see objects and movement on either side of you without having to turn your head. To increase this ability:
- Sit in the background of a busy place on the sidewalk. Or sit in front of the TV or computer screen playing a busy background.
- Try to look at the busy background with your head turned to one side. Then, look at the background with your head turned to the other side. Try to see as much background as possible on both sides.
- Make sure you practice from left to right.
Part 2 of 3: Hypnotizing with the Eyes
Step 1. Ask someone for permission
Ask: “Can I hypnotize you?” Make sure the person answers "yes".
- It's best if you practice hypnosis with your eyes on a friend or lover who trusts you, as they will be willing to be hypnotized.
- The person must be willing to be a participant. If he refuses or doesn't want to be hypnotized, chances are the hypnosis won't work.
Step 2. Ask the person to sit in an upright and comfortable position
Don't stand up, as he will likely relax a lot during the hypnosis and will fall asleep standing up.
Step 3. Tell the person to focus on a point under your right eye
Tell him not to look away while you talk to him.
Step 4. Stare at him without blinking
Start counting from five to one in a low, soft voice. After you do the math, say:
- “Your eyelids will get heavier and heavier.”
- "Your eyelids will get heavier, as if a very heavy weight is pulling them down."
- "Soon, your eyelids will become very heavy and will close."
- "The more you try to open your eyes, the more heavy, sleepy and limp your eyes will become and the more they will want to close."
- Repeat these sentences many times after you have counted from five to one.
Step 5. Tell the person that you are going to touch their shoulder and they will go limp
It is important to tell the person you are hypnotizing what will happen before you touch them. This will shape his mind to understand that you are going to give him an order and he will respond by doing what you tell him to do.
Tell him: “When I touch your shoulder, you will go limp. Ready?"
Step 6. Touch the person's shoulder and tell him it's time to relax and relax
Don't be surprised if the person slumps or falls back into the chair. This is a sign that he is completely relaxed and under hypnosis.
Step 7. Reassure the person that he or she is now under hypnosis
It is important that he is aware of the relaxed state he is in due to hypnosis or being in a hypnotic state.
It's also important to reassure the person that he or she is safe and in good hands. Reassure him that he continues to trust you and listen to your commands
Step 8. Tell the person that his right arm will become weak and heavy
Tell him his arm will feel weak and relaxed. Then, touch his arm to get a response from him.
- Raise his arm to make sure he is now limp and relaxed. Lower the arm back.
- This ensures that the person is now in a semi-conscious state. It also indicates that it will listen to your voice and commands.
Step 9. Make him just follow your voice
Count down from five to one. Say when you get to the count of “one,” he will only hear your voice.
- Flick your fingers as you count “one” to get him to focus on your voice. Tell him your voice will relax him even more. Then, instruct him to hear every word you say and only hear what you say.
- Instruct him to strictly follow only your voice, and no other sounds around him.
Step 10. Test the hypnotic state
Now that you have hypnotic control over them, you can test your skills by having the person touch their nose or ears. You can also ask him to move his arm or leg at your command.
Remember that hypnotic controls must be used with care and responsibility. The person you are hypnotizing has already trusted you, so don't abuse it by humiliating or hurting them while they are under hypnosis
Part 3 of 3: Understanding Hypnosis
Step 1. Do not interpret hypnosis as being asleep or unconscious
Hypnosis is actually a deeply focused state of mind that makes you more aware of suggestions and more receptive to them.
- It is important to remember that a person under hypnosis will not lose control or always obey the hypnotist's words. Instead of doing so, he will be more open to suggestions and hints.
- Often, we are under the influence of some kind of hypnosis or semi-conscious. Think of a time when you lost concentration in class, or were lost in daydreaming. Or, when you are so serious about watching movies or television, you don't pay attention to the people around you. These are all examples of a semi-conscious state.
Step 2. Realize the benefits of hypnosis
Hypnosis isn't just a fun trick or a way to get your friends to dance. In fact, hypnosis has been shown to help a person cope with insomnia, smoking, overeating, and other disorders.
Step 3. Remember that hypnosis is a trained skill like any other
There are currently no government regulations regarding hypnosis. However, hypnotherapists can be certified with basic or advanced hypnosis and hypnotherapy courses. However, it is a profession with its own regulations.
- This certification course covers issues such as professional codes of ethics and basic hypnosis skills.
- Seek out a certified hypnotherapist for more information on the health benefits of hypnosis.
