This wikiHow teaches you how to find out which version of Android you're using on your tablet or phone. The names of the menu options may vary slightly depending on the device you are using. However, the steps are very simple and easy to do once you know how.

Step 1. Open Settings
on Android devices.
The gear-shaped Settings app can be found in the app list.
Step 2. Touch About phone or About devices.
You may have to scroll down the screen to find it.
If the option is not there, try touching System first.
Step 3. Touch Software Information or Android Versions.
Since Android devices are different, the option names may not be the same as those described here.
On some Android devices, you don't need to touch Software Information or Android Version. You just need to open the About screen to find out the version.
Step 4. Look for the "Android version" section on the page
You'll find the version number, for example "Android 10", under or next to "Android version".
Step 5. Learn the name of your Android version (this is only optional)
Most versions of Android are given a name, in addition to the number next to "Android version". This name will come in handy when you're downloading apps, contacting support, or figuring out the device's update schedule.
- Android 11 and 10 are referred to by the same name, namely "Android 11" or "Android 10".
- Android 9.x is called Pie.
- Android 8.x is called Oreo.
- Android 7.x is called Nougat.
- Android 6.0 is called Marshmallow.
- Android 5.0 is called Lollipop.
- Android 4.4 or 4.44 is called Kit Kat.
- Android 4.1 to 4.3.1 is called Jelly Bean.
- Android 4.0 to 4.04 was called Ice Cream Sandwich.
