Empire: Total War is a strategy-based video game developed for the Windows operating system. The game is set in modern times in the 18th century. The main objective in the game is to conquer your opponents and control the world - both land and sea. In order to achieve the main objective of the game, you must think of your wits and tactics. This may be difficult at first, but with the right skills, you can reach the pinnacle of your empire's heyday.
Step
Part 1 of 5: Gathering Resources
Step 1. Start a new campaign
Choosing a good country is a very important aspect to win the game. If you want to start the game in a favorable position, the United Kingdom is one of the better choices. Great Britain has a strong naval force, so you can control the oceans of Europe, India and the New World.
The island kingdom will be left untouched unless the opposing nation succeeds in creating a powerful warship
Step 2. Make exchange and alliance agreements
Exchange agreements and alliances formed at the beginning will give you an advantage. In this way, your profits will increase and the relationship with the country you want to work with will improve. Increasing your income early in the game is an important aspect of building your military might.
- There's a chance the alliance country will cut ties, so make sure you make the most of it.
- Build a port of exchange. The more exchange ports you have, the more exchange partners you can get. You can also make exchanges with land neighboring countries.
- If you're using the UK, you'll need to have a port of exchange so that your inventory can be exported and so that you can receive resources from exchange partners.
- Piracy is a great way to reduce an opponent's resources. To do so, command your naval forces to block your opponent's exchange path.
Step 3. Increase your rice field and production
Building and upgrading rice fields will help build a bigger army, and produce like fur, cotton, sugar, and coffee will increase your economic power.
Step 4. Destroy the Church School and replace it with a school (School) so you can do your research
Research is carried out in schools. The more you upgrade your school and fill it with gentlemen, the faster the research process will go. If you have multiple schools, you can research multiple technologies at the same time, but schools can't work to do research on the same technology.
- Doing research on a technology requires you to pay some research points. Research points will be generated regularly by the school. The higher the school level, the more points are earned.
- Gentlemen will also give you points and increase the time it takes to complete research, so make sure that you include Gentlemen inside the school building to get this bonus.
Part 2 of 5: Building a War Machine
Step 1. Upgrade Your Technology
Do research on military technology such as Plug Bayonet, Ring Bayonet, Formations, and others. In this way, the troops in the battlefield will be strengthened. Doing research under the Military tab will give you new war units and more powerful weapons upgrades, you can also create training buildings, which give you access to more powerful troops.
- The same is true for naval military upgrades. In addition to being able to make ships faster and cheaper, high-tech marine military also increases the range of movement of warships, so that trips can be made much faster. Marine military upgrades increase accuracy when you use ship cannons.
- You can upgrade explosive materials for cannons.
- Military ships can be loaded with military units. This way, you can conquer lands across the ocean, but make sure that you have enough troops to storm the capital.
Step 2. Help the alliance country
Once you have a stable economy and a strong military unit, don't hesitate to help the allied countries whenever they ask for help. In this way, relations with these countries will strengthen and you will also have the opportunity to conquer new lands.
- To declare war on a specific country, click the Diplomatic Relations button, then find the country's name in the list and click on the desired name. Make sure that your potential opponent's friends are not part of your friend group to avoid breaking the alliance agreement you have built. Now, click Open Negotiation, then Declare War.
- If you declare war on your own alliance members, the fabric of the alliance that is formed will automatically be broken.
- If you declare war on an opponent that is the same as a friend's country, you can ask them for help. This is useful in bringing down countries that are constantly getting in your way.
- Refusing the help of a friend country may break the existing alliance, but it may not.
- Helping a friend's country take down your opponent's will increase your chances of acquiring new lands. With their military help, you don't have to send too many troops to take control of a city.
Step 3. Use a fort filled with troops
Forts that have been filled with troops have control zones that work exactly the same as control zones for troops. This makes fortifications ideal to use to defend certain paths that can force opponents to attack before they can pass through that path.
- Fortifying a fort by adding troops to increase its defenses can make it very powerful, so you'll have enough time to call in reinforcements to kill any invading foes.
- By using General or Admiral, you can immediately recruit troops.
Part 3 of 5: Choosing the Target Country to Conquer
Step 1. Make a plan
Plan ahead about which country you want to beat first. Make sure that the country is close to your main city and within your reach, or it could be a country that is close to your alliance country. Most players target countries that are struggling in war. Joining a fight like that might come across as lowly or humiliating, but it was a very good strategy.
Step 2. Determine your alliance and opponent countries
In the Diplomatic Relations window, you can see the status of each country and the way each country treats other countries. Look for countries that allow you to become common enemies, and make countries that can provide you with enough help as an alliance.
Step 3. Make regular troops, draft troops, or elite troops to taste
Move troops to get closer to the target. With troops gathered beyond your target limits, open the Diplomatic Relations window to declare war on the target country or you can simply invade its territory.
A window will appear asking if you want to ask the alliance country for help. Remember, you can only ask for help from nearby countries so that reinforcements can arrive quickly
Part 4 of 5: Conquering a Small Country
Step 1. Conquer the small country first
In Empire: Total War, there are two types of countries, namely large countries and small countries (Major and Minor). Small countries usually only had one city, but it was still possible to have a strong army if given enough time. Find small neharas around the starting point and make them your initial target.
- If you give small nations too much time to build up troops, they can become a serious threat and slow down the expansion of your empire significantly.
- You can use a small country as a training ground for troops to earn XP. Keep attacking the country with one city, and let the small country be rebuilt after being destroyed. This will give you easy targets continuously for the troops.
Step 2. Attack unprotected cities
If there are no opposing troops nearby, you should always attack unprotected cities as much as possible. Even if you only have a few troops, your troops are still at an advantage when compared to the opposing forces protecting the city. Attacking and besieging cities is a more effective way to fight other nations than meeting opposing forces on the battlefield.
- If the area around the opponent's city is protected, then besiege the opponent's city with a large army. Use other troops to take on the nearest enemy, or let them attack your troops who are besieging their city. Whichever method you choose, you will be in a position that is more advantageous than your opponent, and the opposing army will also be divided.
- When attacking a city, make sure that you have enough troops to capture the city and use the Auto-Resolve option. The computer will give you a bigger advantage than usual. If enemy troops come out of the city to attack your siege troops, then play the battle manually. If your opponent attacks one of your cities, play the battle manually as well.
Part 5 of 5: Conquering Other Lands
Step 1. Enter into a new land
Conquering Europe is only the first stage, and you shouldn't just focus on Europe. Use your strongest naval forces, and fill your ships with land troops, then start exploring the other side of the world. You should be able to step on the New World by at least 1700.
- Conquering America is far more ideal than conquering India, because America has more resources and ports of exchange at your disposal.
- Some of the best New World provinces you can take are Huron-Wyandot or Northern Quebec. You are less likely to be attacked by other countries if you are in the far North area, so your fort will remain safe. You can also move south or west to conquer other countries that are trying to dominate the New World, because usually these countries are not protected very tightly.
- If you use Great Britain, you can start attacking America with troops in Nassau and Port Royal. If you're still protecting the Thirteen Colonies, you can enlist their help in conquering Native Americans.
- You will face France too if you go to war with America; otherwise, avoid severe confrontations until you can master Native American tribes.
Step 2. Build and expand your empire
Once you've entered America and taken control of a Native American city, build and expand your empire. Increase your resources, upgrade training buildings, and prepare troops to be positioned in the lands you just conquered to protect them from invaders.
- The newly occupied city will have an unstable economy. This is due to population dissatisfaction.
- Once you take control of a city, don't forget to improve it. The city needs to be in decent shape so you can start upgrading and developing the city, as well as building more troops.
- Exempt the region from taxes if necessary; this will increase the happiness of the residents in the area. Once the residents have calmed down, you can start collecting taxes for income.
- Build, upgrade resources, build an army and then expand the empire. Repeat this step continuously. With high resources, you don't have to worry about income problems. Focus on continuing to beat your opponent, then move to India to continue your journey for world domination.
Step 3. Manage your expenses
As your army grows, your income will become inadequate and insufficient compared to your military spending. Balance the balance between the empire you have to expand and rule and the amount you can afford to incur.
Taxes are a great solution to avoiding bankruptcy at the end of the game, especially if you're playing in a kingdom (Monarchy). Collecting taxes from the rich will bring you a large income without sparking riots
Step 4. Get rid of the rebellion
Every time a city was attacked or captured, the happiness of the city's residents would drop drastically. Rebellions, protests and other problems may occur. To eliminate this, attack any rebels that appear around the city you have captured. Rebels will cause problems in your economic condition, as well as on your total world domination.
Step 5. Focus on the remaining countries
As you enter the end of the game, you will realize that there are only a few opponents left. Defeat all of them at once by making sure that your troops are spread out wide enough.
You need to start defeating alliance countries too. Make sure that you only attack one alliance country at a time. If you attack one alliance country, the other alliance countries will also get angry, but they may be too scared to try to attack you. Attacking several allied nations at once will make them unite against you
Tips
- At the beginning of the game, don't build an army first. Focus on building buildings to earn a steady income.
- If you have enough gold, you can buy technology from other countries through negotiations. This is a good strategy to get one step ahead without needing to end the turn.
