A cloak or cape is a rare item in Minecraft. If you have a cloak, players can wear it in-game to be stylish or brag. Prior to 2018, anyone who attended the MINECON event would receive a special robe. In the past, robes were also given to players as a reward for their achievements. However, Minecraft is no longer cloaking in that way. However, there are several ways to get them in Minecraft, depending on how you play. This wikiHow teaches you how to get a cloak in Minecraft.
Step
Step 1. Use mod (for java edition)
The only way to get new cloaks in Minecraft Java is to use mod. With Minecraft mods, you can technically get any kind of cloak. However, this will not be visible to other players, unless they are also running the same mod. Some mods worth trying include:
- The Advanced Capes Mod is very often used to acquire capes, and can be installed as long as you have Minecraft Forge. After the Advanced Capes Mod is installed, you can customize the capes by pressing the button C, then add the cloak URL. If you want to make your own cloak from scratch, download a cloak template, edit it with Paint (or another image-editing program), then upload your edited cloak to a free image hosting site, such as Imgur.
- The Optifine mod also includes capes, but only you can see them. However, having a nice cape is always fun, especially when you're streaming gameplay. If you want to change the appearance of the robe, go to Settings > Skin Customization > OptiFine Cape, then select Open Cape Editor.
Step 2. Download the skin that already contains the cape
If you're playing Bedrock Edition on Android, iOS, Windows computer, or game console, you can use some of the skins in the marketplace that already includes robes. If you buy a skin on the Minecraft Marketplace that already includes a cape, you can use it as a make-up item through Character Creator.
You can also try Mskins, a website that provides free downloadable skins. This site provides a special section called "Skins with cape" which you can explore
Step 3. Switch from Java Edition to Microsoft account
If you've played Minecraft Java Edition, you've probably heard that Mojang will soon officially ask you to have a Microsoft account in order to continue playing. As of February 2021, no accounts have been migrated. However, this will become mandatory soon. And if this happens, all users who migrate will get a free cloak (only by migrating).
