This wikiHow teaches you how to make charcoal in survival mode in the Minecraft game. Charcoal is used to make torches when you haven't had time to mine for coal. Charcoal can be made in all versions of Minecraft, such as computer, mobile, and console editions.
Step
Method 1 of 3: On Computer
Step 1. Mine a minimum of 4 blocks of wood
Find a tree, then click and hold the mouse on the tree trunk until it splits into blocks of wood. Repeat this step for each block of wood you mined.
Step 2. Open the crafting menu
Open the inventory (inventory) by pressing the E key on the keyboard (keyboard). Inventory has a small crafting section in the top right corner.
Step 3. Make 12 boards
Right-click the stack containing 4 wooden blocks and select half of them. Next, click the box in the crafting section, right-click the pile in the inventory again to select one more block of wood. Place the block in the " Crafting " box with the other boards, then click and drag the board to the right side of the window so that it is in your inventory.
Be careful, leave at least one block of wood intact
Step 4. Make 4 sticks
Place one block in the box to the top left of the "Crafting" section, then place another block below it. Next, click and drag the resulting stick into the inventory.
Step 5. Make a craft table
Place a block of boards in each box (containing 4 "Crafting" squares), then move the crafting table you created to the quick-access bar, which is the row of squares at the bottom of your inventory.
Step 6. Exit the inventory by pressing the Esc key
Step 7. Place the crafting table on the ground
Select the crafting table, then right click on the ground.
Step 8. Open the crafting table
You can do this by right-clicking the crafting table.
Step 9. Make a pickaxe, then exit the menu
Place a stick each in the bottom center square and the middle square in the " Crafting " section, then place a board block in the top left, top center, and top right squares. A pickaxe will be made. Click and drag the pickaxe to the quick access bar.
Step 10. Mine 8 cobblestone blocks
Take the pickaxe by selecting it, then find and mine at least 8 cobblestone blocks. Cobblestones are blocks that are light gray in color.
Step 11. Return to the crafting table and open the table
The "Crafting" window will be displayed again.
Step 12. Make a furnace, then exit the menu
Place a cobblestone in every "Crafting" box except the first one, then click and drag the furnace into the quick access bar.
Step 13. Place the stove on the ground, then open the furnace
Select a furnace, right-click the ground, then right-click the furnace.
Step 14. Add the ingredients to make charcoal
How to do it:
- Click the remaining block of wood, then click the top square of the stove.
- Click the pile of boards or sticks, then click the bottom square of the furnace.
Step 15. Put the charcoal in the inventory
Select the successfully generated charcoal, then click inventory.
Method 2 of 3: In Minecraft PE
Step 1. Mine a minimum of 4 blocks of wood
Look for a tree, then tap and hold the block of wood underneath it until it splits. You will need a minimum of 4 wooden blocks to make all the ingredients needed to make charcoal.
Step 2. Tap which is in the lower right corner
Step 3. Tap the crafting table tab
This tab is in the upper-left corner of the screen. The crafting table will open.
Step 4. Tap the "Wood Plank" icon
The icon is a box with several horizontal lines. A wooden board will open on the right side of the screen.
Step 5. Tap 4 x three times
The button is on the right side of the screen. This action will produce 12 wooden planks.
Make sure you leave at least 1 block of wood that is not plank
Step 6. Reopen the crafting window, then tap the "Crafting Table" icon
The icon is similar to the tabs of the crafting window.
Step 7. Tap 1 x which is on the right side of the screen
A crafting table will be created and placed in the inventory.
Step 8. Place the crafting table on the ground
Select the crafting table in the inventory bar at the bottom of the screen, then tap the ground in front of you.
Step 9. Tap the crafting table to open it
Step 10. Make a stick
Tap the " Stick " icon, then tap 4 x one time. This will result in 4 sticks.
Step 11. Make a pickaxe
Tap the " Pickaxe " icon (pickaxe), then tap 1 x. This produces a wooden pickaxe that can be used to mine cobblestones.
Step 12. Mine 8 cobblestone blocks
Cobblestones are light gray stones scattered throughout the Minecraft world. Bring a pickaxe to do it.
You can take the crafting table back into your inventory so you don't have to build it again
Step 13. Return to the crafting table and tap on it
The crafting table interface will reopen.
If you put a crafting table in your inventory, put it on the ground first
Step 14. Make a furnace by tapping the " Furnace " icon and tapping 1 x
Step 15. Place the stove on the ground, then tap on it
The furnace will open.
Step 16. Select the material to be put into the furnace
Tap the box Input, then tap the wooden block. Wooden planks cannot be used here.
Step 17. Select the fuel for the furnace
Tap the box Fuel (fuel), then tap the board or stick. Charcoal will begin to be made in the furnace.
- This will produce one charcoal for each block of wood.
- If you encounter coal while mining cobblestone, you can use it as a substitute fuel.
Step 18. Double-tap the “Charcoal” (charcoal) icon
The icon is in the Result box. Once you do that, the charcoal will be moved to your inventory. You have successfully made charcoal.
You can use the crafting window to make a torch as long as you have at least one wand
Method 3 of 3: On the Console
Step 1. Mine a minimum of 4 blocks of wood
Look for the tree, then navigate to the block of wood below it and press the right trigger button on the controller (controller).
To make the tools used in coal-making, you will need a minimum of 4 blocks of wood
Step 2. Open the crafting menu
Press the button X on Xbox or circle on PlayStation.
Step 3. Make 12 boards
Select the " Wooden Planks " icon, then press X (for PlayStation) or A (for Xbox) 3 times.
Be careful, leave at least 1 block of wood intact
Step 4. Make 4 sticks
Scroll one slot to the right in the crafting menu to select a wand, then press X (PlayStation) or A (Xbox) once.
Step 5. Make a craft table
Scroll right 3 more times to select the " Crafting Table " icon, then press X (PlayStation) or A (Xbox).
Step 6. Exit the crafting menu
Press the circle button (PlayStation) or B (Xbox).
Step 7. Place the crafting table on the ground
Use button RB or R1 on the controller to select the crafting table, then press the left trigger button while facing the ground.
Step 8. Open the crafting table
Hover over the crafting table, then press the left trigger button.
Step 9. Make a pickaxe, then exit the menu
Press the button R1 (PlayStation) or RB (Xbox) to open the "Tools" tab, select pickaxe, then press X or A. Exit from this menu by pressing the circle button or B.
Step 10. Make 8 cobblestone blocks
Take the pickaxe by selecting it, then find and mine at least 8 cobblestone blocks. Cobblestones are light gray colored blocks.
Step 11. Return to the crafting table and open the table
Press the left trigger while facing the crafting table.
Step 12. Make a furnace, then exit the menu
Scroll to the crafting table icon, scroll down one space to select a furnace, then press X or A.
Step 13. Place the stove on the ground, then open the furnace
This will open a window containing 2 boxes on the left and one large box on the right.
Step 14. Add the ingredients to make charcoal
How to do it:
- Select a block of wood (not a board), then press the triangle or button Y.
- Select a board or stick, then press the triangle or button Y.
Step 15. Transfer the charcoal to your inventory
Select the charcoal that appears, then press the triangle or button Y.
Tips
- Charcoal cannot occur naturally in the Minecraft world.
- Plant trees around your house if you want an endless supply of charcoal.
- Charcoal will burn longer than sticks or wooden planks.
