Let's say you're playing Minecraft and come across something cool. You want to prove the discovery. Just take a screenshot so you can show it off to your friends. Screenshots can be taken from any computer. However, the trick is to know the directory where the screenshots are stored.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Viewing Screenshots of Minecraft on a Windows Computer
Step 1. Exit the game
Save the game and exit Minecraft to access the screenshot. The screenshot is saved to the computer as a specific file.
Step 2. Locate the screenshot storage directory
On a Windows computer, you need to find a directory
%appdata%
using the computer's built-in search function. Access this function by pressing Win+S key.
You can also open the "Run" application to run a search
Step 3. Access the “roaming” folder
After typing the entry and pressing Enter, you should see a " roaming " folder that you need to access to open the Minecraft directory.
Step 4. Locate the screenshots folder
Select the ".minecraft" folder. After going to the folder, select the " screenshots " folder to see all the screenshots of the game.
Step 5. Select a screenshot
The snippet is saved in-p.webp
Step 6. Use shortcuts
If you want to easily find the screenshots folder, type
%appdata%\.minecraft\screenshots
on the search bar. You will be immediately taken to the folder.
Method 2 of 3: Viewing Screenshots of Minecraft on Mac Komputer
Step 1. Understand the search process on a Mac computer
This process is relatively similar to the process of searching the Minecraft directory on a Windows computer. The difference is only in the location and terminology of the folder.
Step 2. Open Finder
To access the Minecraft screenshots folder on a Mac, you'll need to access the "Macintosh HD"/"Users"/"your username"/"Library"/"Application Support"/"minecraft"/"screenshots" directory via the Finder. The user's “Library” folder is hidden by default and you may need to show it or change settings in order to see hidden folders.
Step 3. Show hidden files
If you can't see the “.minecraft” folder, it is hidden. To display it, open the "Terminal" application which is located in the directory address "/Applications"/"Utilities".
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE
. The terminal will close the Finder window to apply the changes. On some newer versions of MacOS, use the "YES" option instead of "TRUE" (eg.
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles YES
).
Step 4. Restart Finder
Re-access the “.minecraft” folder storage directory and browse to the “screenshots” folder. This folder is now available and accessible.
Step 5. Use shortcuts
Press Command+⇧ Shift+G. Type "~/Library/Application Support/minecraft" to access the Minecraft game folder, then click the " screenshots " folder. You can also type "~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/screenshots" to access the screenshots folder directly.
Method 3 of 3: Viewing Screenshots of Minecraft on a Linux Computer
Step 1. Access the main directory (“Home”)
All you need to do is access the main directory or “Home” on the computer.
Step 2. Select the ".minecraft" folder
This folder is in the main directory. If you don't find the ".minecraft " folder in your main directory, you haven't set your computer to show hidden folders and files. To display it, press Ctrl+H.
This file is named “~/.minecraft/screenshots”
Step 3. Find the photo or screenshot
Like other folders, the " screenshots " folder is stored in the ".minecraft " directory. Now, you can access the desired screenshot.
