In certain Pokémon game series, Water Stones are valuable items that you can use to make certain Water-type Pokémon to evolve. Usually, Water Stones (like other elemental stones) are hard to find - there are often only a few elemental stones available in each game. In Pokémon Emerald, there are two ways to get Water Stones: you can exchange blue shards to get one Water Stone in the Treasure Hunter's house, or you can also find it on Abandoned Ship.
Step
Part 1 of 3: Getting Water Stones from Treasure Hunters
Step 1. Get the Blue Shard
This method uses a shard exchanger (also known as a Diving Treasure Hunter) to exchange a Blue Shard for a Water Stone. To get started with this method, you will need Blue Shard. You can find these fairly rare objects in various places, including:
- Beneath the rocks are certain locations where the underwater path can be accessed using the Dive skill (eg Route 127, 128, etc.).
- You also have a chance to get it by defeating the wild Clamperl.
Step 2. Go to the Diving Treasure Hunter's house
Once you have the Blue Shard, you can go to Diving Treasure Hunter. The Diving Treasure Hunter's house is located in an island cottage on Route 124.
Step 3. Talk to the Treasure Hunter
He will give you an offer to exchange your Blue Shard for a Water Stone. Accept his offer and you will get a Water Stone.
Part 2 of 3: Getting Water Stones on Abandoned Ship
Step 1. Go to Abandoned Ship
Another way you can do to get the Water Stone does not require Blue Shard at all. In this way, the Water Stone can be found inside a wrecked ship called the S. S. cactus. This ship is located on Route 108 (in the lower left corner of the world map).
You need a Pokémon that has the Surf skill to reach Abandoned Ship. You'll also need a Pokémon that has the Dive skill to get the Water Stone - Water Stones are not found underwater, but in an inaccessible place without going under the sea first
Step 2. Get in the boat, then go to the part where there is deep water
Once you get to the Abandoned Ship, follow these directions to navigate through the maze-like interior of the ship:
- Climb the ladder, then enter the first door you come across.
- Walk towards the top, then turn right and go down the stairs at the top right.
- Walk down to the door directly below you.
- Walk up to the puddle.
Step 3. Use the Dive skill to enter the deep waters inside the ship
As mentioned above, you'll need a Pokémon that has Surf and Dive skills to get through this section. Use the Surf Pokémon skill at the water's edge to start swimming, then head down and use the Dive skill to walk the underwater path to reach the next part of the ship.
Dive (HM08) can be found in Mossdeep City. You need a Mind Badge to use this skill
Step 4. Take the underwater path, then climb back up to the surface
Follow these simple directions to go through the underwater passages in the ship:
- Walk to the left, then enter the door at the top left of the hallway.
- Walk a few steps into the interior of the room, then rise to the surface of the water.
Step 5. Get the Water Stone in the room behind the third door
Once you get to the surface, walk to the right, then enter the third door. Inside this room, you'll see two balls filled with objects: one on the top right and one on the left. The ball on the left holds the Water Stone.
Part 3 of 3: Using the Water Stone
Water Stones are used to evolve certain water-type Pokémon - without Water Stones, they won't evolve, even if you level up continuously. Take a look at the table below to see which Pokémon in the game Pokémon Emerald require Water Stones to evolve.
Early Pokémon | Evolved into… |
---|---|
Eevee | Vaporeon |
Shellder | Cloyster |
Staryu | Starmie |
Poliwhirl | Poliwrath |
Lombre | Ludicolo |
Tips
- Be aware that Water Stones will disappear when used to evolve Pokémon. Since Water Stones can be hard to get, it's a good idea to think carefully about which Pokémon you want to evolve with them.
- You can also find Scanners on Abandoned Ship - you'll need a Dive to get them too.
