Magneton evolves into Magnezone when leveling up at certain locations in Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Black, White, Black 2, White 2, X, Y, Omega Ruby, and Alpha Sapphire. The locations you need to visit depend on the version of the game you're playing. If you're playing HeartGold or SoulSilver, you can get Magnezone by moving Magneton to Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum and evolving it there, then returning it to HeartGold or SoulSilver. Magneton cannot evolve in Pokémon Blue, Red, Yellow, Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, HeartGold, or SoulSilver because these evolutions have not been introduced in these versions.
Step
Part 1 of 2: Evolving Magneton
Step 1. Add Magneton to the group
Magneton can be at any level to evolve into Magnezone. Meanwhile, Magnemite can not evolves into Magneton in Pokémon Blue, Red, Yellow, Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, HeartGold, or SoulSilver.
- You can evolve Magnemite into Magneton by leveling up to 30, or simply catch Magneton in various locations in the game.
- Magneton will need to be level 99 or less. A level 100 Pokémon cannot evolve because evolution occurs when leveling up and 100 is the Pokémon's max level.
- If you play HeartGold or SoulSilver, Magnezone can be obtained by moving Magneton to Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum, evolving it there, and returning it. See the next section for more details.
Step 2. Visit a specific location in the game to evolve Magneton
Magneton only evolves in special locations, depending on the game being played:
- Diamonds, Pearls, Platinum - Visit Mt. Coronet. This mountain is in the center of the Sinnoh region, and can be accessed from Snowpoint City, Hearthome City, Eterna City, Celestic Town, and Oreburgh City.
- Black, White, Black 2, White 2 - Visit Chargestone Cave. You can enter the cave from Route 6 or Mistralton City. In Black and White, you need to beat the Driftveil Gym first.
- X, Y - Visit Kalos Route 13. You can find it in the northern area of the map, which connects Coumarine City and Lumiose City.
- Omega Ruby, Alpha Sapphire - Visit New Mauville. This location is under Mauville City, and can be accessed by Surf from Route 110 under the bridge.
Step 3. Level up Magneton
Once at the right point, Magneton will evolve when leveling up. You can level up by battling wild Pokémon or using Rare Candy.
Part 2 of 2: Getting Magnezone in HeartGold and SoulSilver
Step 1. Find a friend who has Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum
The only way to get a Magnezone in HeartGold and SoulSilver is to transfer it to Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum, evolve it, then return it to HeartGold or SoulSilver.
The two consoles will need to be close together to be able to trade with each other. This console is not yet able to trade via the internet
Step 2. Make sure both players meet the barter requirements
Each player must have a Pokedex and at least two Pokémon.
Step 3. Head to the nearest Pokémon Center in both players' games
You can start bartering from any Pokémon Center in the game.
Step 4. Head to the second floor of the Pokémon Center
This is the barter area.
Step 5. Start the bartering process
Once you're at the Pokémon Center, you can start bartering:
- Talk to the person in the center of the room on the second floor. If you agree, you will be taken to the barter room. Both players need to do this.
- Enable DS Wireless Communication when prompted. Both players will be asked to do this step. DS Wireless Communication needs to be enabled so that both players can connect and trade.
- Talk to other players and choose "Trade" (barter). The bartering process will begin.
Step 6. Exchange Magneton from HeartGold/SoulSilver player
Exchange to players Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum.
Step 7. Have the Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum gamer evolve Magneton on Mt
Coronet.
Players need to take Magneton to Mt. Coronet and level up there. Magneton's level can be raised by fighting wild Pokémon or using Rare Candy. Magneton will evolve into Magnezone.
Step 8. Return the Magnezone to the HeartGold/SoulSilver player
Follow the bartering process above to get your Pokémon back. HeartGold/SoulSilver players now have Magnezone, which was previously impossible.
Tips
- Magneton cannot evolve in Pokémon Blue, Red, Yellow, Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, HeartGold, or SoulSilver. This is because Magnezone first appeared in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl.
- HeartGold and SoulSilver players can obtain Magnezone by bartering for Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum, evolving it at Mt. Coronet, and returns Magnezone.
