Downloading games over the internet can take a long time because of their large size. So it's natural for Xbox to take time to get games, but that doesn't mean you need to stop playing while the console is downloading. You can set the Xbox to download games after the console is turned off.

Method 1 of 3: Xbox One
Step 1. Go to the home screen
This is the X-box's main menu, and you'll see it when the power is first turned on. To achieve this, press X on the controller and select "Go Home".
Step 2. Press the Menu button on the controller
This button is in the middle right.
Step 3. Find "Power & Startup" in the Settings menu
Click "Settings" → "Power and Startup". Here you can set the Xbox to use stand-by mode when it is turned off. This mode will search for and complete downloads and updates automatically.
Step 4. Select "Instant-On Power Mode"
This mode will keep the Xbox One on standby so it will complete the download when the Xbox is turned off.
Method 2 of 3: Xbox 360
Step 1. Complete all downloads initiated before turning off the Xbox in "Low-Power" mode
The Xbox 360 can only complete downloads that are started when the system boots up. This feature is activated automatically so if you start the download and then turn off the Xbox, the game will download later.
The following steps guide you how to enable low-power mode
Step 2. Press the middle X button and select \"Settings
" You can do it on any screen.
Step 3. Select "System Settings", then "Console Settings"
From here, you can change the power settings.
Step 4. Go to “Background Downloads” and make sure the mode is enabled
You can find it in the "Startup and Shutdown" section of the settings. Now, your download will be active.
Method 3 of 3: Xbox
Step 1. Go to Xbox Dashboard
Select "Home" from the top right corner.
Step 2. Select Console Settings from the drop down menu
Step 3. Go to Startup and Shutdown
You'll see an option for when to turn off the Xbox and allow you to enable downloads.
Step 4. Select download while turned off
Step 5. Turn off Xbox when finished playing
- The Xbox will not completely shut down and the power button will flash.
- The game will download at normal speed.
