Pastilla, or pastilla de leche, is a sweet and sugary dessert favored by many in the Philippines. You can make this dessert with little or no cooking. To know how to make pastilla, see Step 1 below to get started.
Ingredients
- 2 cups milk powder
- 1 can (400 g) condensed milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon margarine

Method 1 of 2: Making Pastilla Without Cooking
Step 1. Pour the powdered and condensed milk into a bowl
Simply pour 2 cups of powdered milk and 1 can (400 g) of condensed milk into a bowl. This recipe will make about 80 candies.
Step 2. Mix powdered and condensed milk
The mixture may be a little thick and difficult to mix, so stir it patiently and use a thick, sturdy spoon.
Step 3. Add margarine to the mixture
Add 1 tablespoon of margarine to the mixture; or, you can use real butter. These ingredients will help add an extra creamy taste to the dish. Mix with other ingredients.
Step 4. Shape the candy into a circle or cylinder
Choose the shape you want; The shape can be circular or cylindrical like Tootsie Rolls. Just use your hands to shape the way you want; You can wear gloves if you want. Place the candy that has been shaped on the party plate.
Step 5. Pour the sugar on the plate
Pour half a cup of sugar on a plate.
Step 6. Roll the pastilla in the sugar
Make sure that all parts of the pastilla are covered.
Step 7. Wrap the pastilla with plastic wrap
You can cut the plastic wrap beforehand to get the shape you want. Then place the pastilla in plastic wrap and tuck the ends.
Step 8. Serve
Put the candy on the plate and enjoy. This dish can be served as a dessert or a snack whenever you like.
Method 2 of 2: Cooking Pastilla
Step 1. Combine condensed milk, powdered milk and sugar in a saucepan
Be sure to stir all the ingredients thoroughly as they heat until they form a paste.
Step 2. Bring the mixture to a boil
Step 3. Add Butter
Continue mixing the ingredients thoroughly.
Step 4. Remove the pan from the stove
Remove the pan from the stove and transfer the mixture to a bowl. Allow to cool for a minimum of 5-10 minutes, until the mixture is cool enough but still slightly warm.
Step 5. Form the mixture
Use your hands or a knife to form the mixture into small candies. You can make circles, cylinders, cubes, or any shape. You can make about 80 candies.
Step 6. Roll the candy in the sugar
Use your hands to make sure each piece is lightly covered with sugar.
Step 7. Roll the candy in plastic wrap
Place each piece of candy in the center of the plastic wrap and roll it into a cylinder or any shape, tucking the ends of the plastic wrap into the roll.
Step 8. Serve
Enjoy these delicious candies any time of the day.
