On a hot day, you'll love it… Slurpee. This sweet, frozen treat beats the heat and goes through your throat with a melting ice-like sensation. You want one now, right? We'll show you how to make one before you can say “I can't believe it's 36° today!”
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 can of any type of soda (a can or small bottle of the drink)
- 3 cups of ice
- Blender
Step
Step 1. Mix the ingredients
Pour the sugar, Kool-Aid, and half a serving of club soda (or soda, if that's what you're using) into a blender and press to mix until the sugar dissolves. This mixture should be thick like mush.
Step 2. Add ice
Press the blender to blend until it reaches the usual consistency like Slurpee®. Make sure the ice doesn't completely dissolve, but mix until smooth.
Step 3. Finish
Add the remaining club soda and stir until evenly mixed.
Step 4. Enjoy your drink
Ahhhh, delicious!
Tips
- To make the Slurpee thicker, place it in the freezer for 15-30 minutes, then mix for a few more seconds.
- If you're using a sweeter soda like Sprite or 7-up, use a quarter cup of sugar to balance it out.
- For a stronger flavor, you can look for cherry, grape, or orange flavored extracts to add. Add only about teaspoon or the taste will be too strong.
- Instead of using ice cubes, plan ahead and freeze some Kool-Aid® in your ice bin.
- For a more unique Slurpee, instead of using soda or Kool Aid, mix flavored syrup with club soda, or add a little flavored liquor to the mix.
- This recipe will make a lot of Slurpees, so we recommend sharing it with friends.
Warning
- Make sure you don't have any allergies to the products used in this recipe.
- You can experience a brain freeze (headache caused by drinking cold drinks too quickly).
