Burritos are an easy and delicious breakfast option. This dish can be made in a number of ways. However, there are certain ingredients and cooking techniques that are often used to make classic breakfast burritos.
Ingredients
- 2 eggs
- Peppers, onions, tomatoes, mushrooms (diced)
- Sausage/smoked beef (diced)
- Milk or half and half (enough to make soft scrambled eggs)
- Tortillas (large size)
- Rice (to taste)
- Peanuts (to taste)
- Avocado (to taste)
- Spices (to taste)
Step
Part 1 of 3: Preparing Materials
Step 1. Crack two eggs and pour them into a clean bowl
Next, use a whisk or fork to beat the eggs until well combined. Do not beat the eggs for more than 20 seconds because if you beat them too long, the eggs will thicken.
- Consider adding a few tablespoons of milk or half-and-half to soften the texture of the egg. You can also use the same amount of water.
- Consider adding cheese to the beaten eggs. Add your favorite grated cheese. Cheddar and jack cheeses are usually great additions to burritos.
Step 2. Finely chop the vegetables
You can use whatever vegetables are available, or you can buy special vegetables to make a burrito. Commonly used ingredients in burrito recipes include:
- Fresh peppers, roasted peppers and chilies.
- Onions: all kinds, cooked.
- Fresh, ripe tomatoes: keep in mind that tomato juice can make a burrito mess.
- Mushrooms: fresh and clean, all kinds.
- Potatoes: finely diced and cooked. Potatoes will make the burrito healthier. Most of the other vegetables do not have to be cooked, but the potatoes should be cooked first.
Step 3. Add the meat
If you eat meat, add your favorite meat to make a more filling burrito. To make a classic breakfast burrito, use meats commonly served on breakfast menus such as sausage, bacon, or chorizo. You can also use other meats (chicken, turkey, steak, etc.) that are available at home.
Cook meat with vegetables, unless you are making several servings of burritos at once for vegetarians and meat eaters. If so, separate the ingredients
Step 4. Cook the rice and beans
While many people find these two ingredients essential in a burrito recipe, rice and beans are not a must. You can simply add rice or beans!
- Rice takes a while to cook, unless you've prepared it beforehand. On the other hand, rice can be a great source of carbohydrates for your burrito.
- Beans are easy to cook. Simply heat black beans, pinto beans, or mashed beans to add them to a burrito. You can cook the beans in a saucepan with the vegetables, or roast them in the microwave and add them separately.
Step 5. Puree the avocado
Choose a ripe avocado, peel it, and mash it into guacamole. Although it doesn't have to be added, avocado is a great ingredient to add flavor and texture to a burrito. For maximum freshness, don't peel the avocado until the other ingredients are cooked through and you're ready to wrap your burrito.
- If you're not using the whole avocado, store it in the refrigerator in a container with a little lime juice.
- In a meatless burrito, you can use avocado as the main filling for meat substitutes. Avocado is commonly used as a meat substitute.
Part 2 of 3: Cooking Burrito Ingredients
Step 1. Cook sequentially
Keep in mind that some burritos will take longer to cook than others. Start by cooking the rice, then continue to cook the potatoes and beans. Next, cook the meat raw, unless you're using bacon or sausage. Roast peppers and cook onions, tomatoes, mushrooms, and other easy-to-cook vegetables at the same time. Lastly, cook the eggs as they only take a short time.
If you're using pre-cooked meat, you can simply grill it along with the chopped vegetables. Fast-cooking meats include sausage and bacon
Step 2. Cook the scrambled eggs
If you want to separate the eggs, vegetables, and meat, fry the eggs in one pan, and cook the other ingredients in another. Or, put all the ingredients in a bowl with eggs and fry them together in a large skillet.
Alternatively, put all the ingredients in an egg bowl and bake in the microwave for about 3 minutes. The time it takes to bake may vary, so pay attention when the eggs start to rise. Don't let the eggs spill out of the bowl
Step 3. Cook the meat and vegetables
Add the diced vegetables to the skillet with the meat, and cook for a few minutes over medium heat. Add herbs and spices for flavor. Again, add the eggs at this time to cook the scrambled eggs.
Consider cooking meat and vegetables in salsa sauce for added flavor. Pour half a cup of salsa sauce into the skillet with the rest of the ingredients
Part 3 of 3: Wrapping Burritos
Step 1. Lay out the tortilla sheets
Prepare large fresh flour tortillas. Place on a clean, flat plate or cutting board as a burrito base. You can add sauces such as salsa, sour cream, and grated cheese at this point, or wait for the main ingredients to finish setting.
Consider heating the tortillas first. Bake the tortillas in the microwave for 30 seconds, or directly on the stove over medium heat. Be careful not to burn the tortilla on the stove fire. Tortillas should be warm enough, but not crunchy
Step 2. Arrange the burrito filling in the tortilla
Add eggs, vegetables, meat, rice, beans, avocado, or whatever you have prepared. Don't overfill the burrito so it can't be covered. Arrange the burrito ingredients lengthwise down the center of the tortilla. Leave at least 5 cm on both sides of the burrito, and at least 2 cm on each end.
Step 3. Add sprinkles
If you haven't added any toppings yet, put them on top of the burrito now. Sprinkle cheese over the burrito ingredients, or add salsa or sour cream sauce to the top of the array. These additional ingredients can add flavor to your burrito.
Step 4. Roll up the burrito
First, fold the wide side of the burrito inward. This fold should cover both ends of the burrito making it easier to eat.
Consider grilling a burrito. For added delicacy, try placing the burrito on a griddle or grill to burn the edges. Bake over high heat for 20-60 seconds until the tortillas have hardened and grill marks are visible
Step 5. Done
Tips
- Try serving a burrito with hash brown!
- Channel your creativity! Try a variety of ingredients that make you feel good.
- Try dicing potatoes, onions, peppers, etc. dice, and fry. When done, add the eggs. Shake and cook. Once cooked, put the eggs into the tortilla.
- Try using O'Brien frozen potatoes with onions and jalapenos.
- Add a little oregano, salsa sauce, avocado or your favorite seasoning to enhance the flavor of the dish.
Warning
- Do not add too much milk / cream because it will make the eggs difficult to cook perfectly.
