There are various types of egg cookers, including those in the form of a pot for use on the stove, electric egg cookers, microwave boilers, and there is even a place to boil eggs made of silicone bowls. Each type of boiler is used in a different way. While it may sound a little scary, using an egg boilr is actually a lot simpler than you might think.

Method 1 of 3: Using an Egg Boiler
Step 1. Heat about 1 cm of water in a saucepan
This amount of water is enough to touch the bottom of the bowl when placed in the pot. Turn the stove over to medium or high heat to bring the water to a boil.
Just turn it on to medium heat so the water doesn't overflow. If the water is bubbling, the egg whites can splatter and harden and make things messy
Step 2. Crack 1 egg into each boiling bowl
To prevent sticking, spray each bowl with oil before adding the eggs. You may need to crack the eggs into the measuring cup first to make it easier to put them in the boiling bowl.
- If you're not using the entire bowl, just fill the rest with water so the bowl doesn't burn.
- Don't let the yolks break when the eggs are poured into the bowl.
Step 3. Put the boiling bowl in the pot and cover it
Make sure the water in the pot touches the bottom of the bowl. The lid must be tight so that hot steam does not escape.
Step 4. Cook the eggs for 2-3 minutes, then remove them from the pan
Some people like to boil eggs for up to 5 minutes, but this depends on how done you want the yolks to be. Use oven mitts to remove the boiling bowl from the stove and transfer the eggs to a serving bowl or plate.
- Eggs are cooked when the outside looks pale white and the yolk looks soft.
- The longer it cooks, the more solid the yolk will be and the less runny it will be.
Method 2 of 3: Using an Electric Egg Boiler or Microwave
Step 1. Fill the egg cooker with as much water as recommended in the instructions for use
The amount of water you need to put in an electric or microwave boiler will vary. Read the instructions for use carefully to find out how much water to add to make the best hard-boiled eggs.
Microwaving eggs usually requires 1⁄2 teaspoons (2.5 ml) of water for each bowl of hard-boiled eggs
Step 2. Heat the boiler if you are using an electric one
Plug in the boiler and turn on the power button to heat it up. It will take about 5-10 minutes for the pot to get really hot.
If you're using a boiler for the microwave, just skip this step
Tip: Many electric egg cookers come with special accessories for poaching because they can also be used to cook whole boiled eggs. Check to see if your cooker has any accessories to work with.
Step 3. Coat the boiling bowls with spray cooking oil, then break 1 egg into each bowl
Spray a thin layer of cooking oil on the bowl to prevent the eggs from sticking. After that, break the eggs into another bowl first, then pour them into the boiling bowl.
Put a little water in an unused bowl
Step 4. Prick the yolks with a fork if you are using a microwave boil
The microwave temperature will explode the egg yolks if you don't poke them. For best results, do not pierce the yolk more than once.
Step 5. Cook the eggs in 30 second intervals if you are using a microwave
Pour a little water over each egg, then close the lid and place it in the microwave. Microwave on high for 30 seconds, then check to see if the eggs are done. If not, cook another 30 seconds and check again.
- Repeat the cooking process in these 30 second intervals until the eggs are white and the yolks are soft.
- This whole process will take about 3-4 minutes, depending on how baked you want the eggs to be.
Step 6. Cook the eggs for about 6 minutes if you are using an electric cooker
Close the lid and set the timer to 6 minutes. If the egg cooker already has its own timer, use it.
The eggs will be cooked when the timer goes off
Method 3 of 3: Use a Boiler from a Silicone Bowl
Step 1. Coat the inside of the bowl with oil to prevent the eggs from sticking
Use spray cooking oil or paper towels dipped in oil to coat the inside of the bowl. If you want to add flavor to the eggs, just coat the boiling bowl with a thin layer of butter.
Remember, this step is not mandatory for silicone bowls; but recommended
Step 2. Put 1 cm of water in a saucepan with a lid
Pour 1 cm of water into a saucepan and heat it on the stove over medium heat. It took about 5 minutes for the water to boil.
You don't need to cover the pot while the water is boiling. Just make sure there's a cover you can use later while the eggs are boiling
Step 3. Crack an egg into a silicone bowl and put it in a saucepan
Don't let the yolks break when you put the eggs in the bowl. Place the flat side of the bowl on top of the water so that it floats to the surface.
Don't let water get into the bowl when you put it in the pot. Although the eggs won't spoil if water gets in, the results won't be too pretty
Step 4. Boil the eggs for 4-6 minutes, then remove the silicone bowl from the water
Use a ladle or wooden tongs to lift it easily. You may have to cook the eggs for about 7 minutes, depending on how firm you want the yolks to be.
If you're having trouble getting the eggs out of the silicone bowl, run a spoon around them, then remove them
Tip: Serve the poached eggs as soon as they are finished cooking. Eggs tend to have a chewy texture if left too long.
